Every year, the ranking is almost the same.

The funny thing is that the govt doesn't seem to do anything to improve the situation.

Driving in Klang Valley is a nightmare, traffic jam is everywhere.

That's because the bus service is so infrequent, that's why the taxi drivers are non competitive and people prefer to drive their own car. Last time, I tried to wait for a bus, it took them 1 hour to arrive in KL.

The bus service from Tasik selatan bus station to KLIA2 is also very inefficient, the frequency is 1.5 hour or 1 hour each time. This forces most people to use the expensive KLIA transit.

Today by bus from USJ to KL Bukit Bintang.
2 hours including waiting for bus to Asia Jaya.
Nearly 2 hours from Pasar Seni to USJ 9pm to 11pm.. Sigh!
21st century MALAYSIA public transport for you!

BTW, SHUT DOWN THE WHOLE TAXI SERVICE!.. its a SHAM AND SHAME to the country, to tourists and everybody who read that UK news report!
Misbehaviour and malpractices have existed in this land for decades!

This afternoon I asked the taxi drivers waiting in front of Sunway Resort Hotel for a trip to Subang Airport.... RM50

So I ask the Concierge / Bell Service counter to call me a cab... 2 minutes and the boys tell me "No taxi, Sir"....

All in cohort.... pakat! And mind you this is supposedly a resort 5-start hotel with 80% foreign tourists.... shame on you Sunway!

4 LEVELS
1) Silly
2) Rediculous
3) Cancerous
4) Failed
Summing up all the silent thoughts and accusations..I can easily see the system as FAILED! It could be very true 10/10 people in this land don't have a good opinion about it if asked.

Normal taxi from my house to the airport used to be about A$40.00 but it is now about A$56.00 + another A$5.00 for luggages for no good reason.

And this is like 20 minutes ride, very very expensive indeed.

In London, from apartment to airport, a ride of 1.5 hrs only cost 36.00

Uber was only in Perth for a short period & it has captures 25% of Perth market.

Western Australia Premier welcomes Uber with open arms.

p/s........I noticed some Malaysian taxi drivers look messy and gangster-like

Yup, London taxi is relatively cheaper.

Three person and with 3 big luggage, a 40 minutes trip from hotel in Kensington to London St. Pancras train station cost just 25 and this was in the early morning 6.30am..

Paris is also not expensive. Taxi fare from Eiffel tower to Champs Elysees which is about 3km is just €6. This is cheaper than buying subway train ticket for 3 persons.. :)

The LRT extension to Subang Jaya is going to be ready in April 2016.

So it should shorten your travelling time but we still have to change trains to go to Bukit Bintang.
What a pain. Why can't they build a single system instead of so many unintegrated systems like monorail?

In London, Black Cab is very popular & cheap.

They will let you know the fare first & they will stick to it even if there is a road block somewhere & they have to do a detour

Not amazingly its roughly a 18 years wait for a very vital transport since the Kelana line started.
Roughly the same time your child from birth till finish tertiary education.
How old is Subang Jaya? Since development in 1988 concluded and USJ around 10 years later?

can consider this, more stops but maybe shorter time:
Taipan to USJ7 BRT station using MPSJ free bus
USJ7 BRT to setia jaya KTM komuter currently free
setia jaya KTM Komuter to KL Sentral
KL sentral monorail to bukit bintang

with our low quality of Taxi standard they still have the cheek to want ppl stop using Uber, such mentality

Although the Black Cab is cheaper but I found them not comfortable. The seat and the seat arrangement inside the black cab can cause motion sickness.. !!

Short distance is ok. For longer distance, I still prefer to call other cab service which use bigger continental car and MPV.

I had rather funny experience of a taxi at Shenzhen. Its RMB10 and exta each km, metered.
1) Mostly a China version of Volkswagen, that looks like a dated Volvo 740 with cheap 1980's Toyota Corona interior, still more spacious than some old Proton Saga here.
2) As usual, all speak Chinese..if you don't speak Chinese, you're buggered.
3) One taxi don't know the place, was just somewhere outskirt of SZH..like KL to Jinjang..
4) Ok lah..all use meter, and not rude and fair business practice..
This isn't definitive..was just a very brief experience.
HERE?..SHUT DOWN THE TAXI SERVICE...enough is enough!.. ITS NOT A MATTER OF THEIR SURVIVAL ISSUE anymore!.. THE REPUTE OF THE TOURISM industry is at stake..further affirming this state is COWBOY COUNTRY!

I've never taken a taxi in China, maybe someday. My experience in Thailand is also pleasant, the taxi drivers there are quite polite and help out with carrying the baggage.

I think in most other countries, the taxi drivers attitude is that the customers are the boss.

In Msia, the taxi drivers think that taxi drivers are the boss and the customers must submit to their demands. It's a failed society in a non-competitive environment.

In Msia, the taxi drivers think that they are the boss and the customers owe the taxi drivers money.

Well..its been decades of unbecoming behavior towards customers, all been said and it persist all those bad cabbies still aren't restrained or removed. People including local rakyat risk facing rude reception or buff-offs as if their services are to be "BEGGED FOR". It have all gone wrong and unfair practices still persist!. WHAT the F those taxi associations are doing? If they claim they're doing something, ITS NOT ENOUGH! PERIOD!
I've NO SYMPATHY to their demands! PERIOD!

TAXI SERVICE IS STILL A BUSINESS to provide a service in exchange for a fee!.. ALL fair business practice and etiquette is upheld like any other simple business deal!..NO BLARDI excuses the provider can't perform fairly! If this cannot be understood, then go find another wage earning job and not face customers.

True. Almost everyday they talked about things that don't benefit the average citizens.
That's why they took 18 years.

They can't afford new cars to upgrade..so blame who?.. our lousy exchange rate and high cost of new vehicles? Very difficult circumstances in this land like high operational cost, high cost of vehicles, low fare rates (but seen as expensive to lots of locals), etc etc..life gets tougher here to earn decent living? Its like as time goes by and as in any business the odds stacked against you is increasing..worse still if you're one man show..

How about starting a Uber like service among the usj forumners ? Say you want to fetch somebody to KLIA or KLIA2 you announce it in this forum and anyone that reads it may request you to pick his friends or family members back. My son was back from Perth and had a nasty experience when he bought a limousine to contain his family of three and luggage . After buying the tickets and when the taxi left the airport, he was told to pay another 100 ringgit if they use the NKVE. He rejected and insisted that the tickets show the destination. He was taken through Putrajaya , Puchong and finally Taman Sea.

Come chaps start something and let them bleed.

There are two types of taxis in KLIA, one is the govt controlled taxis and the other the free-metered taxis.

Take the free-metered taxis on another floor.

It is good to have your own regular, trust-worthy taxi when you plan to go to KLIA.

They are earning a living also. Extra RM30-50 per trip is no big deal compare to your vacation costs.

Pay a little more than market rate and I'm sure they will be at your disposal at the time convenient to you and well-mannered too.

It is not what I meant...

Everyone wants to earn more in any profession..

An extra amount is a motivation..

I agree with you. If you go to Chiangmai, the taxi there from airport to town is only around rm 15.

If you go to Bangkok, a taxi there from airport to town is around rm 45. Most of their taxi drivers are well mannered.

There's even a lrt straight from airport to town and it's much cheaper than our rm 35 exorbitant fees.

I've been to one or two countries in Europe, and I find their taxi drivers are quite well mannered.

I don't know why they start the journey from Paradigm mall instead of the Kelana Jaya LRT which should be more convenient for most people.

Anyway, the frequency is really pathetic, every hourly or every two hourly. What if you have a plane to catch?

The same type of service is available in Tasik Selatan bus station for same price but the frequency is the same ie. hourly or two hourly.

I think they want to discourage people from using the bus to KLIA.

I've been to one or two countries in Europe, and I find their taxi drivers are quite well mannered.

Its all about being civilized and that comes from upbringing along with good moral values that are upheld. I'm accusing that the tendency for greed, dishonesty and uncivilized or unbecoming behavior is probably at its worst now in this land. All the complaints about local taxi service are through and true, 99 or 100% rakyat think the industry is disreputable and a shame to the tourism industry! I worked in a hotel, and everyday there's a syndicated pirate taxi service in direct conflict with local taxis and hotel limousine service. They were very bold, parked and lined up at the hotel driveway trying to tout hotel guests walking out of the main entrance, and Never afraid of the law. It was like COWBOY STREET! That was in the 80's.
I've sat in taxis, trishaws and public transport since young and I recall all those people were very much better behaved, no-nonsense, dedicated to their job, the safety of passengers, and civilized, no matter what race or creed. Taxi cabbie is a simple business, people ARE willing to pay, traffic jams, heat, weather, sweat or tears is part and parcel of the job. If they can't handle it nor prepared for such challenge to earn a decent living, or cost of operation is intolerable, then DON'T TAKE IT OUT OUT ON CUSTOMERS!..FIND ANOTHER BLARDI JOB or INDUSTRY!!

It's not about the useless city taxi that I'm talking about. I'm talking about getting a regular, trust-worthy taxi driver and pay a bit extra for something extra that you might get from him in future..

I posted in another thread that a bakery called Cake Sense at ss15 had closed shop 3-4 months ago. I patronized this bakery as least twice a week and after a while, they know me and know what I usually bought from them.

I can call them to get ready of what I wanted to buy when I wast about to reach the roundabout infront of metropolitan college. I called them to bring the bread to my car when I was infront of the shop. This is a big convenience as the traffic at this part of ss15 is the worst in the entire usj/sj.

I paid rm25 everytime although the bill is about rm21-22.

Nothing to do with affordability. It is about how one uses a little bit more money to make the recipient happy and at the same time, he gets the convenience.
