Nothing new from this article. The writer avoids the main issue of the social re-engineering policy... ;-)
The so-called "social re-engineering" policy to address social inequality in this country has been hijacked for political agenda by the ruling gomen for decades. I think this is what everyone knows.
Unfortunately, even in state that run by the previous opposition party like Penang, social re-engineering policy is also used to strengthen political support and to enhance popularity. It has nothing to do with eradicating social inequality..
A good example (only few days ago), http://www.thesundaily.my/news/1409087
Quoted : " Bumiputra contractors were awarded RM7.81 billion worth of jobs, which is equal to 94% of the contracts given out by the Pakatan Rakyat Penang government since it came into power in 2008, chief minister Lim Guan Eng said "
- Tell me only 6% of non-bumi contractors in Penang are qualified to be awarded contract..
- Tell me only 6% of non-bumi contractors in Penang are interested to get state gomen contract..
- and tell me also, the population of non-bumi in Penang is 6% !!
I think you should not simply write on subjects you do not understand nor have a firm grasp on..... it makes you look clever but its dangerous to misinform...
Read first what is social engineering here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_engineering_(political_science)
Let me share a proverb with you: "Its better to keep the big mouth shut and be thought stupid than to open it and remove all doubts..."

You can ignore my post. I think others may have less problem than you reading my posts.
There is no need to share any proverb with me. Keep it to yourself before I share mine with you..
Btw, your proverb " Its better to keep the big mouth shut and be thought stupid than to open it and remove all doubts " fit perfectly of what you know about diesel trade...
...I just received a quotation for PETRONAS Diesel Euro 2-M at RM597 per MT plus 6% GST.... so at 100,000MT the total shipment will be RM59,700,000 FOB ex Tanjung Bin. GST at 6% = RM3,582,000 for product to be shipped to Tanjung Priok, Indonesia?

Its because I know there is no GST for diesel export that I posted this, can't you understand simple English? Or what the sign "?" stands for? Waste my time trying to explain simple English to people like you....
Anyway, the point of my posting was to tell you not to simply bluff every now and then, just stick to facts....

....Talking about gasoil (diesel as we commonly know), I was told by my collegues that gasoil price is around USD550 per metric ton in Malaysia. ;) They normally quote the market price minus USD10-15 as per Singapore MOPS.
Yesterday (Monday, 27 April 2015 Singapore time), Platts price for gasoil (Euro2) is USD565. The traders and refinery in Singapore will add USD10-15 for premium.
p/s : MOPS is mean of Platts
Maybe you are special... as you can get Petronas to quote you RM597/MT.. !! :heheheh:

I didn't say I got a quotation from PETRONAS.... I said I have received a quote for PETRONAS diesel... read again.....
And I quote this particular case because of two things: imposing GST when it shouldn't and the high price....
So you got all the facts wrong and yet you want to continue to argue and look smart....
I got the deal signed off the next day at USD520 so who look stupid now?
No wonder always end up quarrelling with forumers here, does not comprehend the language well....

I am actually quite tired with these tirades
But some of our readers want to see some 'interesting' posts and for this time I shall tolerate this 'usual' confrontation between Sentinel and Greenwich simply on the grounds of entertainment
It is OK if some of you (with the relevant business knowledge) wish to clarify on the prices and rates mentioned for our education. Education is always a good thing

[QUOTE=Naka;592966]I feel very sad Malaysia economy is in bad shape due to global low crude prices which is beyond her control.
But it is made worst by half-past six economist who can’t differentiate between RM & USD.
It is interesting to see people who talk loud and big with pea-size brain.
Ya, me too. Like you I also cannot understand some of these half past six economists persistently and constantly wanting to tell the world how BIG a deal their job entails. Perhaps, like you mentioned they are trying to make up for the brain size (or the missing bit?). I do think one need to understand the type of readers they are targeting or those around, no point always shooting for the moon.

For me some things are best kept simple and humble.
Maybe for one thing, its very possible people simply forget this is an OPEN forum, and thats what forums are for. I reckon, most here are already familiar with each other's style, language and what's already expressed in the past, present and the future. No-one is always agreeable to each other's points, facts or bluffs. Most of all everyone is entitled to write what they want as long as it doesn't break forum rules which include personal insult and being condescending to hurt another in one way or other. Everyone got their own ego here, that's no doubt. No need to loose sleep when someone impress by their own ego which may be perceived as pernicious or condescending. Just like everyone have their own definition of fun...so was that Mara scholar who thought what he did was fun, the aftermath is not everyone agree to giving a 2nd chance...

[QUOTE=bslee;592972]
As Mr Chang mentioned, someone with business knowledge in this field should share.
Greenwich has correctly pointed the diesel price should be around USD 550 as per Singapore MOPS .
The distorted problem is someone was caught pant down and wanted to twist and turn
The only person twisting and turning is you. You got involved and barged into the argument by calling me pea-brained and half-past-six... for someone who cannot even name apple strudel properly and called it apple studio... you obviously do not even have a good command of the language.
I mistyped RM in place of USD and you labelled that as twist and turn. The real twist and turn is lying about what social re-engineering is and when I pointed that out, someone threw a spanner and brought up my error in using RM instead of USD.
Then you got involved to bang me to vent your frustration and anger which has been inside you for years.... from the time you tried several times to get me banana'ed and banned until now...
It is obvious that you referred to my error as an economic disaster even comparing it to an economic situation.... it shows Naka... it shows... and do not even try to hide it....
And trying to show how Aussie you are by trying to say "mate" means intimate friend? Sorry lah.... you are not the only one who has been or lived in Australia....
I have traded diesel for years and I have not even mentioned it until recently... do not even try to think I am that pea-brained as you to trade for years with such stupidity.... I would have been a pauper... come and debate me direct if I am stupid... just start a thread on any topic... but no apple studio please, I don't know what that is you had for breakfast....

In 12 monthly shipments, GST will come to RM42,984,00! wow!
Any GST experts here can offer comments?
From what little I know about GST, exports are exempted.... and I did a double-check with a freight forwarder friend, an accountant in PJ and a CFO in a MNC trading company.... somebody trying to do a quick one to my Indonesian partner hahaha....

Yes Sir! Whatever you say sir.... and since you come from the backwaters of east coast Sabah and residing for sometimes in Perth, could you care to explain what "mate" means in everyday Aussie conversation?
I used the term "mate" not to indicate you are my friend - never..... don't even hope for it.... I use it like what every Aussie uses everyday - as a colloquial everyday expression... from your earlier postings where you spent nights to try to get me banned from this forum years ago, you have never been a friend. Even those who had white coffee and roti bakar with you for breakfast also told me that you also badmouthed me even outside this forum - and frankly, we have never even met...
Yes, you too keep your distance...

APPLE STUDIO:-
Today, I want to comment on this 'Apple Studio' spelling which I have never touched on despite the fact you took the opportunity to ridicule me on 3 or 4 other occasions over a span of a few years.
Yes, a long time ago,I did make a simple typo error on the spelling of Apple Studio instead of Apple Strudel and you jumped on it & continue to ridicule me on the first available opportunity.

Perhaps, like you mentioned they are trying to make up for the brain size (or the missing bit?). I do think one need to understand the type of readers they are targeting or those around, no point always shooting for the moon.
I got a self make neighbor, from driving taxis to now owning many blocks of apartments. Nice guy but each and every time he meets some one he talks about how much taxes he pays, shares he holds and money he makes. Being new initially I just put up with him, also out of respect since he is much older. Not owning any pet, he occasionally take his tenant's dog to the park and was kind enough to introduced me to his fellow dog owning mates whom I thought were his real good buddies. One fine evening, I saw him being garlanded with a big sign by his mates and being curious I walked over to see what it was. What they garlanded him was a deserving BIG golden plastic $ sign.....sadly that was the last I ever saw him in the park again.
For me some things are best kept simple and humble.
I think I may have some explanation for this..
It has something to do with upbringing. Allow me to share my observations of such people that I have encountered.
- They don't have a complete family during their childhood. Maybe due to unforeseen reasons, they grew up in a family without one of the parents and lack of proper guidance because the remaining single parent would be too occupied to put bread on the table and also no time for every children
- They don't have children. We often hear - "children are the angels, they teach the adults ". From raising up the kids, we realize our own shortcomings and improve from there. Those who don't have children may not have someone in the house to discover their characters shortcoming.
I am not generalizing that people from single family or people without children are definitely those who like to yell loud to show off and brag. No, this is not what I mean.
I am sharing my observations of such people I met and I feel sad for such people. They are very disturbed people and they have no inner peace irrespective of whatever material possession that they brag to people..
That's why they always talk loud about their material possesion and influence to camouflage their inferiority complex...

My BIL is doing Uber in Melbourne - can clock in AUD300 and in a very good day AUD500 (12 hours driving). No punishment if decide don't want to drive that day. I guess it is not easy to do in Malaysia due to the lack of enforcement here. Malaysia boleh!
I am surprised cab driver is allowed to work for such long hours in Melbourne !!

Because it is not related as you advised me before to stay on topic.
You can always start a new thread to share what you know and what your friends told you about Melbourne. I thought you don't need me to tell you this as you always move my posts and other's posts to a new thread when you think the posts are not related
If you are not happy with the word 'brag', you can remove it from my post. It's Ok for me.

Most people brag occasionally, and I don’t see anything wrong with it. Some people brag a lot, there is at least one or two people here want to brag big time and trying to do it subtly but most of the time failed. The fact that all these braggers are hiding behind the keyboard, allows them to have the privilege of making a fool of themselves and still don’t have to face the consequence. There is a difference between all these faceless braggers and some real people in this forum. The real people are usually more responsible, more polite but….. less interesting.
There is no harm having a few obnoxious clowns in any party to keep everyone entertained. Sit back have some popcorn and enjoy the show. Throw in a few punches every now and then if you feel like it. The best part is you can logout stay away from this circus anytime you like and nothing in the real word would change……. And our moderator will make sure, while these braggers are bragging each other to death, no one breaks the Law.
P/S: if you want some inspirational conversation or some useful real life information such as “GST and you” this is not the right thread. There is a good reason the moderator moved these posts here and not deleting them, and of course there is no need to send any of these braggers to the banana plantation. Have a kit kat.

Some people brag occasionally to tell people they are different. Some people brag a lot to tell people they are holier than thou whenever opportunity arises. There is at least one or two people here who enjoy bragging big time this way and trying to do it discretely but most of the time they failed.
There is good fun of having a few " saints" in a forum to keep people alert of the existence of such people. Just grab a Godiva chocolate and a glass of Mumm champagne to accompany the fun.
