If a person is still in a company and wants to remain, will he bad mouth the company? Unless if you are on the way out, you will not normally bring out all the dirty linen in public ... that's human nature. Say for example, if you are presently employed in your company, will you openly criticize your boss? Do that and you're getting the boot!

From the link you provided, The Edge explicitly mentioned the word “rumour” that he may be leaving. As a responsible journalist, the writter did not say he is leaving, just based on market rumour that he may be on his way out. But you did not, you specifically said “ He is on the way out. “

However, I can be wrong. Maybe you know him very well and that's why I asked a few questions in post #5.

If you don't know him, it is good you don't make sweeping allegation.

In my previous corp life, the company GM hated my guts and I found out later in a top management meeting, he had slandered and branded me a 'Maverick' and wanted me to be sacked (for not following certain idiotic personal emo decisions he made). But the MD countered 'Yang Berkhidmat TIU tupai is productive Maverick and makes money for the co...":heheheh:

I then face-off the GM and said this: "joe limahai, you and I are working for a very established 100yr old american gray monolitic company named XXXX, I dont work for a joe limahhai trading sole proprietor enterprise!! :mad:We are both professional employees and you just happened to be the GM. And he gave me the biggest increment plus a co car, maybe just so to prevent me form leaving after outlasting that joey limahai....apa lagi maverick mahu?:p

Ok good for you! I stand corrected.:) In the place where I work everyone hates the GM (a Datin). If you bad mouthed her, you're curtains, which was what one guy did. Your GM is made of different stuff for sure.

Chang, I don’t think you need to ban Mercure. I guess he has the right to get to the bottom of a rumour and nothing wrong to question if it is in doubt of a statement made by someone.

The ban on mecure is only temporary - for him to cool off
The basic problem here is that mecure is up to his old habits again when he was Rhiga.
He tend to take things into his own hands and decide to "moderate" the thread
This lead to arguments and people getting angry for being chastised or accused of doing something as observed by mecure

In the past, I used to just give banana but I feel it is more effective with temporary ban

But if anyone things they feel strongly about posts done by another member, just report to me
instead of doing my job of moderating

How to report - just click on the warning triangle (triangle with the exclaimation mark "!" inside) found at the bottom gray border of the particular post

Just as in this case i do not see anything wrong with the comment by besitai2007...he only forgot to emphasis that it was possibly a rumor but the linked article already said so. Furthermore, besitai2007 only said he believes the CEO is on his way out because of besitai2007's observation that only someone on the way out is brave enough to stand up and oppose the boss

I do not see why mecure was so angry about that...it is either simply being nit-picking or mecure dislike comments by besitai2007 (as was in a previous encounter)

My way of moderation is pretty simple

Basically it is to moderate on arguments
Anyone who starts a fight will have to face the consequences

in a public forum, we always agree to disagree
that is, to respect the other person's view
you may oppose but learn to do it without confrontation or getting personal such as accusing the other party of spreading rumors or lying
let the admin do the job of reprimanding a wrong-doer ... don't try to do the mod's role here
