Phone for parents? That's a difficult one... Have they been using one? If not, all the functions can be intimidating.. I'm using Note3... Great phone but the size is a problem for some but not an issue for me...

And a friend commented the Note3 screen is good for his 'lou fah', previously using S3 and Iphone4s but have to hold phone far far from face to see who's calling, but not with the Note 3.... 'Lou Fah' friendly...

No need the latest smartphone IMO.....

Just a Samsung S3 will do. A senior citizen would get by on a daily basis with this model without much fuss and exasperation. I can be considered a senior citizen and I am using a S3 courtesy of wifey!

Learn the features in S3 and you will get by. You planning on data plan for them...? Just becareful about unintended usage...! Mine just use wifi and SMS if out of wifi range.

Some notable features is the driving mode...whereby sms or phone calls coming in can be voice-activated. Cool for senior citizens who gets excited and fumbles when a phone call rings....relax let the smartphone do its work!

Another feature is taking photos and sharing photos via NFC....good when children, in-laws and grandchildren visits...catch up on happenings! Check out some great android social apps like whatsapp, facebook etc..

Don't have to fork out few thousands for it.....save for a rainy day..! Get it from a legit Samsung outlet though for reliable service...

Cheers!

'Lou Fah' friendly...Speaking of 'lou-far' friendly, do check the brand new Nokia Lumia 1520. It has got a big bigger biggest screen ever! No need reading glasses also can see one! :p

First determine if size is a problem

if screen is too small to be read (old age long-sightedness) the get the large screens which are more than 5 inches such as the Samsung S3 or Note or HTC One max
forget the iPhones if you prefer large screens because I feel the iPhones have the smallest screen of the 3 you picked

Then do you want ease of use?

The iPhones are the easiest to learn. So this is the best choice because Android phones can be a real challenge for non-tech savvy folks.

Do you want good apps?

iPhones are better here because technologically speaking, they have better looking apps and probably better functions.
iTunes have strict controls of iPhone apps and they are less likely to contain malwares and spywares... I understand that there are less controls for Android apps.

Oh...one more thing I forgot....

Forgive my asking....does your parents have an email account...? Because to activate a new phone nowadays requires an email address...
And when you download apps required from the respective apps (Android, Apple or Windows) store, an email address is required for identification. Bear in mind that you need not necessary to have the same password for this login process even though the user id is your email address....so you need to teach your parents to remember all the passwords for all future accounts on the new phone...! And also get to know the two-factor authenticator sms thingy....

Welcome to the new smartphone world!

Cheers!

i think it is up to you. cz these 3 phones have different aspect to support..Iphone 5s is more stylish, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is more to corporate or business bcz it comes with the Galaxy Gear Watch and HTC one Max is more to entertainment because of better sound effect..so what do you think?

If wanna buy for parent i will suggest u buy the HTC One Max..
Actually the screen of HTC is bigger than the Note 3, so for parent with "lou fa" is very good
And the HTC One Max got better battery life, forgot to charge (old ppl always does) also can standby so long...
