CASSA CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLIC EXECUTION OF CANNY ONG’S MURDERER!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Consumers Association of Subang and Shah Alam Selangor (CASSA) today urged the government to have a public execution of those found guilty of rape and murder to check the rapid rise in such violent crimes in the country!

The present legal process is outdated and abused , archaic and has not acted as a deterrent which is clearly obvious to policymakers, legal intelligentsia and the civil society!

Instead, the rather long legal procedure and appeal process is abused by those who have indulged in serious violent crimes against individuals and the society at large and who during the process are seen laughing and joking and even having the audacity to plead not guilty to chargers when the evidence gathered is overwhelming and where confessions have already been voluntarily given!

As the result the families of the victims are made to suffer humiliation, physical and mental agony and relive the brutality of the crime committed against their loved one!

The irony in all these is the entire proceedings is at the public costs!

Have the families of such brutalized victims not suffered enough?

CASSA compliments the police for the professional manner in which they have apprehended the culprit and pleads that this fine action continued with a fast track legal procedure followed by a public execution of the suspect at Merdeka Square!

djg's outburst may be forgiven if he was not a public figure so to say.

if he's a member of the bar his call will not go well with the bar council. neither will suhakam appreciate his mince words.

boo to u djg 4 using the name of cassa (even if cassa is u???) as the umbrella to express such violence.

perhaps u should now submit yr application papers to pas. or hv they already made a resolution to make u a honorary life member?

We are all angry at what happened and grief together with the parents of Canny Ong but I still think every country has its law and it should be allowed to be used in the manner it was designed to be. I am not very good with words but I think a public figure should not let his emotions get the better of him no matter how he feels about a situation. A public execution will bring us back many years?

It’s tempting to shout “cut off his head” but the question is, where will we go from there? We can summarily execute this murderer today and a few drug pushers tomorrow but such vigilante action tends to escalate. Remember the People’s Revolution in China? The French Revolution? The mobs at Ancient Rome? The McCarthy witch-hunts in the US? When people bow to mob rule, the result is wholesale murder.

As I understand it, the law is there to dispense blind justice. We have a process that allows us to examine the facts, weigh them and then take action according to rules that have been developed over the years. If we throw away this institution and bring back mob rule, who do you think will we see being fed to the crowds at Merdeka Square next week? People who don’t wear “the right” clothes, people who “don’t look right” or *gasp* people who set up consumer associations? All of us would be at the mercy of our neighbours - not a pleasant idea at all.

The thirst for revenge is a basic human trait. We can give into it if we want to, but in my opinion we are better people when we rise above it. Oh, and bring back trails by jury please!

All Forgotten?

All forgotten? Has Canny died in vain? What happened to all the promises and pledges made by politicians and various authorities about making basement carparks more secured? What happened to other proposals of security measures to make our streets more secured? Have we actually start the recruitment of more police officers? What happened to us? I put myself in this category as well. What happened to us? Can we do something? My basement carparks posting received one reply. Can we share more information to help each other? Please?

Or are we now saying, 'let's move on with life'? Meanwhile, if you read the papers, almost daily, there are rape cases going on. And there are still so many unsolved 'cold' cases.

I will go round to a few more carparks this weekend and report information back on this forum.

Thank you.

A CASSA Update:
----------------------

Thank you Cool Hand Luke - Fair Comment!

Let us make Subang Jaya the 'pilot project' by looking at the conditions of car parks at various areas - supermarkets/hypermarkets/neighborhood etc - here - lighted not lighted/ with security/without security, highlighting specific problems of each - we would appreciate all the help in this matter.

Photographs will be good!

CASSA will consolidate the infor/data and submit with a covering letter to the office of the incoming premier, Minister of Housing & local Govt, Selangor State Government etc.

Those interested to asist please call us at CASSA HOTLINE: 016-3122442.

We appreciate your support in this matter!

God Bless

Please Help

Help needed. Would somebody be able to take a look at the basement carpark of Holiday Villa or Subang Parade? With all due respect to CASSA, and excuse me if I am wrong, but we do not need consolidation or compilation here. We need a few good people to just post their observations here - to be shared with our friends (whether they be members of this community or not) and our loved ones.

Personally, I am not interested in submitting this to any authority. I am not interested to make this into a 'political thing'. That, would be unkind to the memory of Canny Ong. Security measures and safety are also in our own hands and I am trying to do my part. It does not matter even if help is not forthcoming. I should be able to cover most of the carparks in a week or two and if people read about them on this forum, then that is good enough.

Thank you.
