After so many years of exorbitant rates, why reduce it just before election time ?

And after election, will there be another few rounds of increase ?

All erection gimmick. They have made their money many times over and are squeezing the rakyat for every drop. Comes an erection they have to unsqueeze a bit so they expect us to be thankful???

Kesas is another example of daylight robbery...

The distance from the 1st toll and 2nd toll (KL bound) is shorter than the distance from the exit at Summit (Klang bound) until the toll at Port Klang..

Shorter distance with MUCH higher traffic volume.... but road users are slapped with 2 tolls !!

There is no free lunch. The Gomen will either have to compensate the highway concessionaire in cash or give them an extension to the contract. Either way we pay, lah.

How come I don't get such sweetheart deals?

Yup, that must be the highest toll rate in the whole country.

And how's dat the LDP ( Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong ) is a highway where I got to pay Rm1.60 just to go from Bandar Sri Damansara to 1Utama where it is just 3 kilometres away and choked with peanuts butter jam traffic at the booth and on the way?

Patrick Teoh wrote this in his FB status box. Just sharing.

The operators of the Kesas Highway make RM19,668,000 every month. That's RM236,016,000 every year. The highway has been collecting toll since 1996. So that's 16 years. Ok allowing for gradual toll rate increases, traffic volume etc. let's say they collect RM200,000,000 a year. That means they have collected perhaps RM3,200,000,000.

From tomorrow they are giving you and me a 20 sen discount. So come on everybody, get down on your knees and say thank you. B++ta+ds!

It may not be much to us but it is a huge loss to 'them'. How many million cars pass through everyday.

For years I've tried my very very best to avoid this highway. I'll choose the time or period to bypass this highway to some destination which evidently shorter distance by this highway.
I REFUSE to pay ridiculous toll rates! if me handing out that fee and I immediately feel as the Blardi FOOL!

No lah, there is no loss. The Gomen will pay the difference to them with taxpayers' money.

And if one decides NOT to go to KL but diverts to Sunway ( 1 km from that KESAS toll ) you kena ZAPPED with the LDP toll instead... another RM1.60 poooff !! :(

Put it this way..We rakyat have all been shortchanged and forced to pay for progress, and a high price at that!. I drive a near junk car Rm1.60, some drive a Rm300,000 car, also 1.60. I suppose thats fair huh? Everybody becomes poorer living in Klang Valley as time goes by, if one's income is somewhat stagnated. Teh tarik at warong oso RM1.80 now.
For a transformation, reduce all tolls by 70% across the board or demolish many toll plazas..then I think about a show of appreciation, if not I'll continue to avoid tolled roads.

They would rather commit hara-kiri than do that... on the other hand. they would rather see YOU commit hara-kiri before they do that...

Has anyone ever wondered one repeated policy in ALL these "tolled" highways.... if "they" cannot make money, the Gomen would almost always 'buy-back*' the project from the company.... at a HUGE "bail-out" price, instead of letting the useless company die off..

( and to ass a slap and salt into the wound - almost all operators also had those damned toll highways built on loans and guarantees... FROM OUR BELOVED GOMEN, IN THE FIRST PLACE... !!)

I heard that when PAS took over Trengganu, tolls were abolished right the very next day. Is that correct? That'l be great. And yea....KESAS is a real killer. I try to avoid it too. Very sakit lah for return trip to Cheras area using this road.

Patrick, remember we spoke about Sulawesi, Indonesia? Can you guess how much the Indonesian governemtn spent building the entire coastal road surrounding the entire island? It took me 7 days going around the road on an old Honda ST1100 for half the entire island.... and its TOLL FREE all the way!

Last time before NPE, I got no choice…

To avoid Federal highway, have to pay the blardy rm2.20 x 2 x 2 (two ways ) per every f#kxx weekday. This is almost rm200 per every f#kxx month and rm2400 every f#kxx year..

With NPE now, I paid lesser but is still a blardy rm1.6 x 2 x 2 per day… rm150 per month., rm1800per year..

I can't use Federal highway during morning and everning rush hour... my blood vessel can't stand it.. :(

In average, we paid about 45%-55% of the car price to gomen as blardy taxes...

For people who drive a car with price tag of rm300k, they have paid easily rm150k blardy taxes to the 1gomen..

For a car of rm40k, the taxes is about rm15k…

Wow, there is 10 times diffrences in taxes paid to the 1gomen..

Give chance to those who drive a little bit better car la... Don't whack them for a higher toll rate just because the car is a little bit betetr..;)

Like I said before, I don't mind paying taxes (like I can escape that) but wtf they do with the money is a sore point.

Bantuan Gomen would be helping gladly to tax everything from road tolls to toilet rolls & spring rolls. Gua tolong U mah , U tolong Gua lah. GST - Gomen Sekarang Tax

[I]The operators of the Kesas Highway make RM19,668,000 every month.

It's RM655600/day, RM27317/hour, RM455/min, RM7.50/sec. So every 2 seconds, 7 cars pass through Kesas toll booths. I shall pass this information to the booth collectors. But I guess they can't do much anyway. ;)
