May I know do you welcome a kindergarten in your neigbourhood if your taman is successfully collected money to build fence, guard house etc which turned into guarded neighbourhood?

Do we as residents have the rights to say No to kindergarten?

Let me share what went on in my little corner of a taman with regard to a kindergarten operating here.

Towards the end of last year, the residents found out a kindergarten will be operating in a newly renovated corner lot. Now, for a kindergarten to operate in a residential area, it only has to get signed approval from its immediate neighbours, ie. houses to the left, right, front & back & then proceed to get whatever licensing that are required.

Knowing the additional noise, traffic & parking problems it will bring to the neighbourhood, a signature drive + meetings with the adun, councillor & MPSJ were initiated. MPSJ rejected their application & the kindergarten brought the case to an appeal court & was granted the rights to go ahead.

How they can get the ok is puzzling when :

1) Kindergarten had 3 signatures from immediate neighbours (2 of them rented property) but there were 20 signatures against it. There could be more but we were told 20 signatures were enough. Those rejecting the presence are the neighbours mostly affected and we are not talking about those staying 2 or 3 roads away!

2) There is already a secondary school and a church with numerous activities just down the road (50m away) that are already contributing to increased traffic here

3) There is already 1 kindergarten & a child care centre in this area & which is already sufficient to cater to residents within this taman.

So, your answer of, "Do we as residents have the rights to say No to kindergarten?", it is obviously NO. Anyway, goodluck to you & yr neighbours. mum3, I'll have a pm for you.

If you're talking about TP1 area, yes it's definitely NOT conducive 1. the Kesas highway is next to the neighbourhood. Therefore, it is very noisy to have an education centre. 2. Residents are paying for security guards, so it's not wise/unfair to have outsiders dropping off kids at the kindergarten. I would suggest that MPSJ does something for the community (instead of making profits) i.e. refurbish the park, include a basketball court with a roof (did you know that basketball in famous among kids in USJ).

"What do you think?"
