If I stay in Penang island I would just get a Suzuki Swift Sport 1.6L or the Ford Fiesta 1.6L. So easy to park on the old narrow streets.

... when this first came out, we still have the regular spins at Batu3...glorious time and even then, I was truly impressed by this lil fella... and they also invited some lucky folks to be racing in their exclusive suzuki Swift Class too :heheheh: of course, all invited drivers must be certified racers and carry a legit AAM (min.) issued racing license.
I would also luv 1of this spirited rocket...

Yes, that's what I'm thinking... but let me run this Golf GTI down first... I would say it will make a great runaround car in Penang and it is pretty quick too... economical and going up the ramp at Gurney Plaza is a swift (pun intended)... BTW this yellow beauty you show here is a 2.0 litre right?

Err...no, it is only a 1.6L but comes with a 6 speed manual gearbox. It is the latest model but I have not seen it on local roads yet. :)
Is your Golf GTi the MK6 or MK5? VW have just launch the MK7.

Mine is MK5... dark navy blue WKS 555 on AST full body kit and exhaust system from AST (4 tail pipes built-in the bodyworks) and gives a loud popping sound each time you flip the paddle shift.... 19-inch rim... bought in 2008 when I was still working for a commercial bakery... still love it a lot... but honestly can't beat the STI S204 I had... both at 320hp though...
I have never missed a car I have sold as much as I miss the S204...

I wouldn't touch this brand again after my unhappy and brief flirtation
----snipped--------
Yup!..I've never had any affection for this make anyhow...just happened to look through. There were other makes there, including the new Prius C Hybrid. RM97k... BALODDY EXPENSIVE!
I've absolutely NO INTENTION to pay any more duties than I should to this regime!

..While the Toyota Altis is a boring car to drive it is bloody reliable. I have one which is coming to eleven years old. ;-)I can attest to that…
It is a VERY reliable car.
The sterling wheel is so light and smooth that you need time to "adapt" to it especially if you are also driving a continental car..!!
Altis is a fantistic car for city-driving.
But, it is not nice to drive on highway because it is high and light, relative to other 1.8 models ...

We had a maroon Altis year 2002 which was robbed at the open car park at Subang Parade, parked outside the Parkson Grand entrance... just 6 months old...

Which is why I love Chartis's Agreed Value car insurance policy whereby they will pay exactly what your car is insured for...even if it has gone into the next year. Usually it is based on market value. The catch is, the agreed value is usually about RM10K above the market value so the premium is higher. My Camry is insured RM12K more than what I paid for so if it is stolen, they will pay me the full insured sum. That means, I can make RM12K if my Camry is stolen.:D

But I am sure the premium payable is also calculated based on the insured value so you are paying an annual premium more than others are paying for their Camrys, right?

I do not know much about the current Accord but the current Camry is sold based on Toyota's name and Camry's past glory. Many people are disappointed with the lack of advanced features or technology. Imagine, it is still using a 4-speed gearbox when others have 7. Personally, I will consider other cars, like a used Mercedes, either a E or C class.

I have owned both - a Honda Accord 3.0 V6 in Brunei in 2005 and the present Camry... for comfort and smoothness it has got to be the Camry... for quick acceleration, its Accord, must be the vTec.... but both equally reliable and have a good second hand resale...
