Guys,

I need a solution to integrate all my media hardware together. Here's the list of stuff I have and need to integrate :

a) 3 Samsung SMART TV (one in bedroom, one in guestroom and one in living room hall) and one old flat screen LG (in kitchen)
b) AC Ryan Media Player
c) UNIFI
d) ASTRO decoder

What else do I need and the TVs have a LAN cable coming out from the walls already. How to integrate ???

And what u mean by "integrate"? Output (b) (c) and (d) to all of (a) or some of (a) selectively?
Maybe you can share the solution wif us here, after you solved your problem.. ?;)

Maybe he wants ONE switchable AV multi junction box for all the source output cables and one single output to TV. Actually HDMI cabling is supposed to relieve that to some degree. I suppose could have at Low Yat...have to go Walkawagon and shop around loh!
AC Ryan is a Dutch brand of Media player products. I own one.
Google www.acryan.com.

Okay, I see you have 3 sources and 4 TVs with lan available at each TV.

One solution on the LYN forum: Sarowin http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1836682. This will give you remote controlled wireless distribution from up to 4 sources. Add a 5 port gigabit ethernet switch and some Sarowin HDMI via UTP Cat5e/6 extenders, you can distribute to 4 TVs in 1080p using the Lan cables.

Do you want each TV to be able to watch a different source independently? Then this system isn't good enough.

BTW I have no connection with Sarowin. I was just browsing about their equipment the past couple of days. It's quite costly (but then it's only money.....). I might try some of those HDMI/Cat5e extenders myself, since I had already wired up my whole house with Cat5e those days when Wi Fi 802.11b was still very expensive.

...defining "integration"...
Hahah, Finetuned understood what vsat meant. With so much wireless technology lying around, it is already starting to appeal to people to get multiple electronic objects to work together ... and the first things that get "integrated" would be audio-visual stuff in your house. For example you can only play your favourite music in the CD/DVD player you have in your bedroom but you need to be moving around the house like making breakfast, taking a shower, reading your papers in the living room ... and you do not want to be holed up in your bedroom just because the music player is there. If the other AV equipment around your house like the 4 TV sets allover the place can be connected, then you can stream music to all of them and you hear your favourite music in all the rooms where the TVs are found. Getit? Same for videos too.

I'd like that too... if someone can tell me what good, reliable and cheap controller I can get to wirelessly stream the AV to other devices in my house. I'd like watch Astro in alternative locations and also select channels without me being in the same room as the Astro decoder and I'd like to do this wirelessly. The old parallel cable system in my house for Astro no longer works... and like some houses, it only connects the decoder in the living room to the bedroom

Sometimes, I wonder whether technology is helping people to have more time to relax, or to take away their time and stress time with the “advancement”....;)

I think the best is wait for a while until technology can allow a small “implant” into the brain, and you just switch whatever audio/video you can imagine with your brain.

Don’t need to spend money and split hair for all the acronym devices now.... ;)

Bro,

I think we are on the SAME WAVELENGTH here ... I just concentrate all my "entertainment" appliances in the living room. I encourage my kids to go out and play rather than stay indoors and likewise for myself !!

I think society is about to get "over-stimulated" by technology until you cannot even eat dinner without seeing some kids playing/watching an IPad ... WALAU !!

My kids know that I will never buy them an IPad, smartphone, etc ... I always remind them, there is a proper place, a proper time and a reason for doing certain things .... ubiquitious connectivity is not one of them !! :p In case, you have not noticed, I usually (90%) of the time DO NOT USE THE INTERNET (hence "sembang" here in the forum :p ) on weekends unless there is a REAL NEED !

Now, I know why we aren't able to keep our expenses within our budgets. Oops! No, I mean technology has created demand for new devices, now we need to catchup with new technology and more newer devices to keep us on the race...
Sounds familair? But then, if we dun do that we cannot advance mah... and the cycle will be repeated till kingdom come - well that's life nowadays, no.. not just nowadays... it's been like that before and still is. No, I'm not against the development and advancement... just the thot of it.:p

I've had a share of my own predicament too... When wifey says she want t TV at the kitchen, I scratched my head, there is no antenna outlet at the kitchen, so how? And, she doesn't want to see wires running around to the kitchen, and I dun want to hack the walls too.

So, soon we need a common device that will interact with all our 'smart' devices in our homes... and we call our homes 'smart' homes just like the 'smart' phones we now have. :p

On the Astro bit, I thought that's easy Chang!? Just get a channel changer with a receiver that sits on top of your tv. When you use the Astro remote, it will allow you to change channels remotely. Then what you need is a video transmitter from your Astro decoder to transmit the signal to your TV ! Hence, you would be able to watch your Astro program even though your decoder is located in another room. Is that what you wish for? :D

I thought kwchang mentioned he had already got that system, but it no longer works? Mine also died more than 6 years ago. So I went back to the old sneaker net system. :D

Anyways, sometimes technology is fun, other times it can be a pain in the *ss. It depends on the individual lah.
