Yes, I can testify to that. I have been practising that for the last almost 1 year and these days I hardly ever get up from my sleep to go to the toilet; at most once. Otherwise, I used to go about twice each night and that tend to spoil my sleep.
My friend's back problem which he had endured for years, has gone after I shared with him this therapy.
So, if it worked for us, I believe it should work for most of you too.

Patrick,
Glad you and your friend are harnessing the health benefits from this traditional method..
This Lajin method was introduced by my relatives during CNY gathering and to be frank, I was very skeptical of this method. They continued to bombard me with their self-experience and my sister-in law even courier the Lajin bench, sandbag, book and the DVD to me !
I started the Lajin strech for 5 minutes for each leg everyday. In the beginning, I really felt like given up as the pain during the stretch is like tearing me apart !!
Now, I stretch the legs for 15 minutes, 3-4 times a week.
As a summary, you guys can just treat Lajin as Chinese Yoga and I don’t think there is a need to elaborate the health benefits of practising Yoga.
Cheers

This Lajin thing and pai da (tepuk tepuk) are really good. But for beginners, it's really painful. I tried for 1 week and it's really effective. This thread reminds me to start Lajin and pai da again.

Yes, the Pai da is also very good. Wifey does it everyday.
As for the La Jin, I try to do it everyday with 10 minutes for each leg. Btw, try not to do at night. If you are like me, I had problem sleeping once when I did it at night. Now I always do it either in the morning or afternoon before meal.

Didn't want to be accused of self-promoting. In fact I had posted once in Sabah Snake Grass topic, which I have a write -up:

good guy, i
it would also be good, if you could share how much it had help you in daily life, and from your experience with others. Stories as such would help motivating others to try as well. thanks.

Hi Veejay,
I think when a person reaches a "critical" age, he/she will be very mindful of health issues. Of course there are those who will live life as if there is no end. I belong to the former. So I try my best to do what I "preach". So far I am as healthy as a 60-year old should be. If you go through my articles, you will not find enough time in a day to follow through all the wellness regimes that I wrote. So do I. Some exercises, I follow daily. While for others, I try my best to do them regularly. In the end, we need to be moderate in whatever we do. Each person is different with respect to time, preference, ability, discipline, and what have you. Most important; to be relaxed, happy and free from any form of negative thoughts and behaviour.
The three foundations to good health : proper nutrition, regular exercise, and positive mental happiness.
With these 3 foundations, one's immune system will be at its peak, and the risk of getting sick is reduced to the minimum.
It's all common sense. :D

From the last words " common sense"...You certainly know how to harmonize yourself with food, surroundings and emotions.. :)
Simplicity and simple life is always the key..

Can anyone share where to get a lajin bench, a good but not too costly one?
Also, the paida stick

Is this in effect similar to touching your toes ie to stretch the hamstrings? I don't quite understand how this works although I know that in XingYi Chuan they have a stretching exercise whereby you are given 100 days to touch your chin to your toes(seated). This supposedly develops your internal power or chi. Exactly how or why it works I haven't got a clue. I brought up this exercise because we are looking at extreme stretching of the hamstrings here.
Anyone in here with a grounding in TCM principles could maybe enlighten us.

Flexibility exercise like Lajin, ideally alternating with weight and cardio exercise. Anyway, it is the former exercise that has always been neglected by people from all walks of life. Many thought the nature of their jobs involve enough exercise; but usually still lack in this aspect of exercise ie to stretch our joint capsules/ligaments/tendons/muscles adequately and regularly
