If not mistaken only watch shops stock these rarer batteries. These are special purpose batteries and not found in supermarkets or DIY places.
Just have to bow to the prices they happen to demand.
SR batteries are Silver Oxide types and last much longer than LR types more commercially available.
My digital Vernier caliper uses LR44, a very common type but SR44 is more suited, and rarely found. Last time Daiso got them, but very limited stock.
Long ago, my Tissot watch cost me Rm25 at Wata Time to replace the battery, standard charge for this type. Now use winding type watches...battery free :grin2:

I know Daiso has such watch batteries but cant remember exactly the models. It's either a pack of 1 or 2 pieces for RM5. Good luck !

From past observation, Daiso got those bigger and somewhat more common ones and most of them are not for watches. Watch batteries are quite tiny compared to these popular ones.
Got some "undersized ones" which I know aren't exactly popular ones, example, Common one = LR44, they seem to have more LR43. which is slightly slimmer. Always to acquire the exact replacement type to replace the original type used. The other common one is 2032, used in PC mobo backup battery, but they seem to have more of the slimmer model which is used in some pocket calculators and portable thingys.
I suppose their sourcing dept have the faintest idea whats common and easily saleable in this land. Different market, different approach and audience.

They do have the smaller batteries such as SR616 and SR626. The other models....I cant recall now though I was there just about a week ago.

The price is within that range and not that expensive. Don't go for cheapo brands as you may regret it when they leak and damage your watch. I changed the battery for my Longine watch at a small watch shop at SS15 costing RM15..same row as the Bah kut teh restaurants, facing the housing area and not the main road. I forgot its address..ask the shopkeepers there. There is another one facing the main road but his prices are higher and the boss is now snobbish and won't do minor repairs or fix unbranded watches.

Got stock up quite a few model of these Maxell silver oxide batteries from Jalan Pasar at about rm2-rm5 a piece. Jalan pasar always evoke feelings of substandard 'water' product...but they do have excellent quality as well. Have been changing these for family members from branded watches to rm5 pasar malam model. You must have steady fingers and a rig up of some tools if you are to attempt to do the changes . Never for the faint heart or shaky hands...
Yearly usage of about 5 to 10 pieces. sr626 , 721 ,927 ,527 etc.

Hmmmm....too bad that sr521 isn't in my collection now...

Watch out for palsu batteries,if your battery watch last less than one yr,most probably it a fake baterry.I have experience twice before a friend before. If your watch is a precious one, better go back to the franchiee.

It may not be a fake ... It may be an expired battery ...one that is on the shelve until nobody knows how long it has been there.....
Have yet to see a battery manufacturer put a shelf life on their packaging.

CCY, which shop in Pasar you buy these batteries? And do they sell a mixture of models in one pack or only by individual model only ? I have so many watches that need battery replacement every so often. Now that you mention Jln Pasar has Maxell, maybe I should go there and get them too !

The only shop I know which seem to have specialized industry batteries is a shop called Nasamas S.B.,Jalan Pasar, middle lot directly opposite a proposed multistorey building site. This is further up where some banks are located.

That shop stocks quite a wide range of silver oxide batteries . Can't point out exactly which shop is it . Maybe , on the next trip I will note down the details for diy's enthusiast's benefit.

Sound's familiar...but can't confirm. If not mistaken ...it is a shop somewhere in the row near the market where there are a lot of 5-foot way peddlers.

Actually a lot of shops in that area stock lots of common ones and lots of FAKES to be found with a keen eye!
You just have to waltz in n out of each one and ask. I've noticed the price do vary from shop to shop.
I used to buy 2032's, LR44's and that 12V one commonly used in autogate or car security remote. One corner lot shop just after the traffic light there seems to have the fairest price of all.
Trouble is I loath going to Jalan Pasar from Subang. KTM & Star LRT to reach there from Subang. Wait till the Putra LRT is in full swing, still 2 LRT's to get there. Still better than driving there and parking IS a problem during working hours.

Ok thanks CCY & BS! Mr DIY in Summit also sells quite a bit of such batteries but unfortunately mostly if not all from China. So quality becomes questionable. Btw, Mr DIY's prices are extremely competitive for DIY enthusiasts. Check it out!

Sure will my friend! Tried the mee rebus couple of months back...same place but for some weird reason, didn't taste very good. Nasi Padang at Capital kopitiam opposite Sogo would be a better choice, lunch before gallavanting around at Jln Pasar...nothing really good to eat at that area. Just don't know when will be my next trip. Go there only for some quantity purchases, certainly not for 1-2 nitty gritty barang.
MrDIY?..aiyoh.. a lot of stuff there are of poorest quality lah.. typical of things seemingly very cheap and very short term usage.

True, true but certain things I dont need quality mah! eg. napthalene balls which I use quite a lot. Get them whenever I go movies....much cheaper ! Also stuff like nunchaku that I got for my sifu! Other stuff I get there like compression bags for pillows and such! Quality not essential !! ;-)

Wah lau....I bought the Maxell battery CR2032 at only RM3 in Taipei !! I thought it was very cheap. Would have bought all my watch batteries if I had brought along the battery specs. Thought I should share it with you guys ! Wonder if it's cheaper in Laos and/or Thailand.

Aiyoh bruder, Maxell is real battery lah. Anyway, it's not a watch battery but for other use. The point is to share with forumers on how cheap such button battery is in Taiwan.

CR2032 is such a common part used in millions of desktop PC motherboards for so long now. Common GP brand at Jalan Pasar is couple of bucks..RM2.50 I think..
Daiso got imported button batteries but cost FIVE bucks. Not exactly cheap either...plastic container for fiver is better value.

I bought some CR2032 in Bangkok some years back for RM3 each and I thought that was cheap until I saw them in Tesco (Malaysia) - 2 for RM2 or RM2.50! The latest discovery - 6 x CR2032 for less than RM3!!! It being sold by IKEA in Malaysia and you can get FREE car park worth RM2!

Go and see Ho the watch repairer in SS14 where the LRT Station is in progress. His half shoplet is shared with a laundry - next to 7-11.

Oh yeah? So it's not so cheap after all in Taiwan. Anyway, I bought them there as I happen to need them, but Maxell is a good brand. Dont know about those mentioned here. But batteries from I isnt so good. Some of the 3A batteries bought from them leak whilst in use. A bit disappointed.
