I have a friend is trying to find out how to change his election voting area.
He has registered using his old address (in Pahang) but now staying in Subang. Is it possible to change that since his new IC already has Subang address? If it is possible, how to do so?
Thanks!

You can ask your friend to go to Subang Post office to change the voting area.

Had JB address when i register for voting in Bangsar... Long time ago.
I thought one had to change the ic as well. Can we just change the voting area without changing the ic?

Nope, the voting area will follow the IC address. I already checked with EC.
So, need to change IC first ....
If do it now probably still have to vote at the old address if they call for an early election or your change might be lost halfway and you end up not being able to vote here or there. Better not take the risk. I understand that it takes at least 3 months for the change to be in effect. BTW where can change the IC? Only in the nrd or can do in post office?

Only at NRD, I am afraid, I also asked but not bothered to change yet ... fastest I heard is in Putrajaya or Shah Alam on weekends morning ... Putrajaya is super-fast, after all, who on earth wants to travel there ..... :p
I am also thinking along the same line as you, wait until the next GE is over before I change my IC .... SAFER to ensure I vote for CHANGE !!

Sorry, I am a bit confused. I used to stay in Taman Tun and have always voted there. I moved to SJ and my Mykad has Subang Jaya address. I now live in Kota Kemuning but the Mykad still has Subang Jaya address. So, where to I vote? I thought I should be going back to Taman Tun. No? Follow the IC?

My friend just did it at post office. Took less than 5 minutes. Yes, have to first update IC address.
I have been encouraging many hometown friends to register or update their voting areas as many are now working in KL, Penang and few in Johor and Malacca.
No more reason not to vote because of the need to travel too far.
Every vote counts.
To update have to change ic first. Then one would have to go to the nrd. Unless the post office are online how would they accept any change of address. Just a little confused.

If you didn't inform them of change, then they follow taman tun.
check in www.spr.gov.my
mykad and election dept are separate and not integrated.
