Myanmar political landscape change drastically recently ; mass release political prisoner, sign ceasefire deal with rebel groups, allow opposition party to participate in election, etc, all these leading to sanction lifting, and open up Burma to the whole world, after been locked up for more than 60 years.

Burma is a resource rich country; reserve with oil & gas, stone gem, etc, to gather cheap labour force of 60 millions population , which makes many multinational companies eying on this opportunities.

Any body see any opportunity and effect on us ? I manage to talk a Burmese recently , he told me , they monitoring the development and prepare to leave Malaysia back home as early as next month Feb. There many Burmese here, you can find them in wet market, construction site, factory etc.

I still remember, when Vietnam sanction was lifted, foreign fund flood in to tap on cheap labour for manufacturing, economic growth leap and bounce. So how do you foresee Burma now ? any miner exploring there ?

Past 3yrs, bolehland only lost out in terms of FDI to VN, Indon and some of SEAsia lah...BUT in terms of development as in existing infrastructures, living cond, lifestyle dll senangsenang goyang kakis, we are a helluva lot better than most of the underdeveloped asean countries lah.

So, while there will definitely be opportunities in new growth countries/areas, dont be too happy that the burmese here will, at a snap of a finger, pack their bags and heading home to make money lah!

With a popn so big, it cannot sustain itself until it have a proven & very stable govt and uninterrupted growth of minimum 6-8%GDP YoY...

So, no worries lah. We dont have to work so hard yet lah...
The burmese men will cont to serve dimsum, pour beer, do blur collar manual work lah. Dittto the thais, pilipino, viet, cambodians, laotian and indon....the ladies will cont to be hsemaids, cleaners, waitresses, masseuses, karaoke lounge hostesses...heck! even countries with 8-10%GDP growth export their people to work in bolehland lah...

But back to the question: Of course there are bizz opportunity there. Ditto bizz opp in bolehland. They are everywhere lah. Its just a question of quantum, investment size, perseverance and stomach how hungry...In fact, I was asked by an army connection (up to the military junta top) on 'What business you msians want to do here? We are open to any suggestions"...

So, as proven in ALL developing countries, ideas & money rojak with ruling power connection, can be a very profitable & potent mix. Any1?

Aiyoh...google lah...so many peep aledy brooched on this subject there. In Nov 2011, the junta put on some new orders but in a nut shell....like most underdev countries, foreigners cannot own landed property lah...only bolehland that pendatangs after along while, can have limited freehold land. *subject to rules & conditions*:p
But u must not blieve everything penned here & there lah...

methink, buy the new & coming on board condo there could be a potential winner...but u wnna be there to hawk it? It same same when HCM & hanoi opened up...boomtown charlies they all!
