Had anyone tried buying anything from the Groupons website?
Is it reliable?
Eg. If we buy some restaurant bookings, and their conditions are you have to use them at certain time and certain days, with limited Groupons booking per day, will there be occasions when the goods bought cannot be redeemed?

So far my experience with Groupons is good and they are reliable. Just need to look out for the expiry date of the deals purchased esp when u r a deals junkie like I am with a lot of vouchers in hand. I find its quite worthy some of the deals but provided we really use it.

Referring to your example given, I suggest u give a call to the restaurant and try to make a booking if possible (at the point of purchasing the deal). Some restaurants allow you to make a 'soft' booking and then follow up with the voucher no. once you have received it.

So far so good. Enjoy using the service.
Pro - I get really good discount
Pro - I get to try something new with lower price

Con - May bought something that i don't actually need
Con - The advertised 'normal price' is quite misleading. Therefore it showing those exceptionally high discount rate
Con - There is a time-limit.

My suggestion is to check the "comment" at the bottom of the deal. Quite useful.

Anyone has any misadventure with Groupon?
I just received an e-mail from them today, 25 Oct 2011 (dated on the mail as well), was interested in one of the item, ie. i Robot roomba.
When I locked on, it showed that the deal ended on 24 Oct

About the i Robot deal...
e-mail Groupon for clarification
the girl there said they have to take of the deal because of some complication with the merchant.
Still wondering what she meant by that.. hmmm.
Wonder how honest this Groupon website is , or the merchants involved..
Sad days for people who still hold ethical conducts as a principle of life! :(

Groupons are handy for me when i want to get bday presents for my friends in KL. I log in.. purchase it, then wait for them to email the coupon to me, and i forward it to my friends so they can enjoy it. Just bought 3 for friends to go makan together-gather since i cant treat them in person. Soooo handy and rather good deals too. I see it as a good way to check out new restaurants without spending too much. Always read the fine-print tho. There may be some catches there.

Apart from Groupon, you can also try www.everyday.com ... they are offering similar good deals, so you widen your options and choices :)

Yeah, as somebody said... good food need no advertisement.

How do you get good price if you have to pay for advertisement as well?

I found most of the restaurants offering these deals are around Sri Hartmas... not the are I frequented.

Ever had the experience when you bought a coupon and you couldn't use it during the time you want, and the coupon just lapsed?
I had such experience... Regent Club,, couldn't use the free room vouchers for most of the dates we are free, and only 2 rooms available each day for members...Yuk!!!
