Well we have to find out what really happened dont we? There may be more to it. Are there anything which probihits a 19 year old from tendering for jobs? If there has been any abuse of procedure or powers then action should be taken against them irrespective if they are pakatan or barisan. Apparently the job seems to have have been completed.

Either the job was completed with A or F, doesnt matter. It is the general rule of the thumb that whatever contract given should not go beyond reasonable doubt how it was given. I mean - given to a college student who is moonshining with 1 million ringgit contract?
I oredi been given a lecture by the Plantation Manager that I have given too much political bashing to the ruling govt. This is another examplary why I post this ( not the first) . Without fears or favours. BN or PR if they are abusing the power, how is the rakyat gonna to work towards nation building? Any political imbalance can be manifestion of social ills.
From who's first to who's last , heck I am working hard without be paid to get answer as a social activist without seeking favours. Satisfaction guaranteed with clear consciene where my Alma Mater of St Michael Institution Ipoh would be proud of me

Yup i totally agree that we the rakyat will only whack those who do wrong irrespective if they are bn or pr or amanah or kita and we always will allow the accused parties to explain themselves.

Just look one example: the Shah Alam Hospital... MULTI MILLION contract but abandoned... how come MCA never raise hell.... ello' selective yelling izzit? Suddenly championing for the Chinese contractors?

This BUMI kid has a CLASS D (http://pkk.kkr.gov.my/kelas) contractor qualification (up to 2 Million) and the project (looking at the picture) was completed (which shud be commended!)- SO WHAT IS THE ISSUE? Funny thing is that when Bumi contractors are NOT given contracts - UMNO bising... contracts given - MCA bising... Guess this happens when empty vessels are banged - hollow noises are made...

The explaination by DAP that projects below RM200K is reserved for qualified AND competent bumi contractors with Class F speaks volumes... not like a lot UMNO/BN projects - all given to cronies that would only know how to SUBCON instead... Btw... why MCA never highlight those abandoned projects (http://www.hba.org.my/help/abandoned/ap_list_AB.htm) many of which are PPR and Public Housing projects which are done by BUMI contractors & Bumi connected contractors... eh?

I still remembered 25 years ago we were stopped by the Discilpine Officer right at the gate of IPK Ipoh and questioned the Police Inspector why he was driving a brand new Volvo.

Is age an issue like race? How about gender? We are too stereotyped in our perception of things. The important thing is that the guy completed the project. There are contractors who are older who cannot complete what they were meant to do..the Shah Alam Hospital Project is a case in point. Thus, green or blue, short tall, what does it matter if the job is done and done well? Being young he has no "baggage" to impede him.

It would be interesting to know what the gomen is charged for the textbooks. I wouldnt be surprised if a 10 ringgit textbook is charged at 20 or 30 ringgit. If they decide to quickly 'resolve' this issue in the 'interest' of the workers you can bet your last ringgit that there is a lot of things that they would rather not blow up. Or it could be just that the new fella has friends that he would like to take care of and what better thing to do but the kick the previous guy out. This is all part of parcel of how our system works. It sucks!!

Age is not the BE-all AND end-all specification for maturity or qualification. Give it to some incompetent old fox and he manages to make it into an abandoned project, what's the point? From what I see he managed to complete the project and hence he should be commended! There are alot of high-rise skysores around, USJ 19, Klang old jusco.. where is the MCA to pressure these to be completed? :p

In the 1st place to be fair to the kid - he might just be one of the directors in the company which probably might be his father's. The MCA goons should know that minimum there must be 2 directors in the company so why HARP on the kid.

If indeed the company belongs to him and have a good track record so what MCA if he is given a contract?????

Past 50 years - hanya tahu angkat tangan sokong, no need to think!!!!!! Now bising - where were MCA when million was spent on Disneyland trip, multi million contracts given to Alam Flora..... the list goes on and on....

First it was the yumno who said that he was discriminating against the malays, now it is the ymca who said that he had been discriminating against the chinese, next it will be ymic turn to condemn him for not helping the indians. At least he say say that the najib administration is helping him and by helping him personally najib is helping all indians who now have another fella to look up to. And maybe next year ymic will erect a bill board of najib taller than batu caves as a gesture of their appreciation of him, something which maybe can be seen from the moon??

It is amazed to see people react to incidents, but chose to ignore the fundamental...

Sure, the intention of MCA to harp on issue like this is low class,… but the fact remain – what have the Pakatan state government done to create a fair chance for all the contractors to participate in the state government tender ??

MCA picked on such minor tender issue is a clear sign that they are really lack of political capital to score any point.. we can bash MCA all day and night, no problem.. They will be totally irrelevant after the next GE.

But the more fundamental question is – why award the contract to someone without track record. Don’t tell me a 19 years old has a better track record than hundreds of other contractors in Penang ??

Class F contract only for bumi is the Federal policy, not the Penang state government policy. The issue here is Pakatan chose to play safe – at least in this context to avoid being challenge further by the criticism that they are marginalize the bumi.

I understand this is politics – you make a political decision, not the fair or right decision. It is the same with the case of Chinese road sign in Penang. It scored huge points from Chinese community and at the same time won’t generate much opportunities for the opposition in Penang to sensationalize the issue.

Fair enough... but she jumped the gun "without checking the facts first". Which made everyone else jump too... In fact, the teenager and the father and the mother has clarified the story - and best part, we learn that the teenager is 'actually' being exposed/taught/trained "HANDS ON" by his father and not as what was said about him.

Imagine you working hard, learning the ropes and here comes one "keh-poh aunty" with a claim that totally destroys your credibility!! I would be mad as heck!!

Penang Gov seem not even bother to response to some of the allegations by all the BNs... they continue to do their job and seem confident all these will eventually reveal itself in time...

That is good point. Unless and proven by record, it is deemed unfair where contract is not based on merits. To award a contract, it must be transparent and seen fair in respect of pricing, track records and awarded without fears and favours. Above all, no elements of corruption as seen and alleged by the previous adminstration. Because of the abuses, projects monies are diverted for political or personal gains. Contracts are given with the upon expectations , works are carried out and completed within time frame. Otherwise, what is the use of contracts?

It is the Bolehwonder how govt contracts from Bank Bumi to Stadium can collasped, how public hospitals to civil housings can be incompleted! Even a multi year simple contract of printing text book company can go busted and expected a bail out!

BTW, it makes fact where black or white cat catches the mouse, is deemed as a good cat but how good is that cat if it is just 19 days' old, when the size of the rat is bigger than the cat?

Instead of blaming it on the Auntie MCA, I would blame it on the STAR which published it without double checking all facts. It has the people and resources at its resources but it is bad journalism reporting for printing it black and white for the readers. Where is the crediblity?

Nevertheless, I would suggest the Fitnah parties to sue them as it damaging to the image with facts and factors. Ring a bell?

BTW, I was supposely given a major contract to supply food lately, but kenot afford and dun wanna to be part of the scheme especially when I was asked to make contribution first to secure the CON -tract. I myself like to sue but it was not in black and white. Dun wanna to report it too as I was afraid of being thrown out in the window. :p

I consider them as a single entity... :D :p

but I disagree in blaming the STAR on this... similar case on Aunty Ros Ring... so all alternative media (MI etc) is wrong for not double checking the hard facts b4 publishing it??? and they hav plenty on similar reporting without double checking hard facts...
here STAR is only reporting on statement by MCA...

Also I think we should stop harping on the transparency/fairness of this contract...
THE CONTRACT WAS NOT AWARDED TO A 19 YEARS OLD...

Millions are made out of misreporting by the mainstream media from Mirror UK to NY Post. And If I am bersih as the reports are misquoted and printed in black and white, I would sue for million from the STAR. It was glaring to report a 1million RM project from an actual 500K RM contract.
From a Mean Chef to a Wannabe Plantiff of a misCONstructed case. :D
