My neighbor is doing an extension to his house. He extended his front porch. His extension includes the common wall we share. There is a kink in the wall on my side now. It comes in about 20mm over an area approximately 1 meter. The common short wall is now about 10 meters high..that kink is as high as the wall!!!

His new car porch also pours water into my house when it rains..He says he will add a gutter but that would mean it's going to be in my property.

What can I do. Please advice...

I am not sure if it's legal or not. But he did have some MBSJ forms that allows some renovation.

They will probably ask you to settle it amongst yourselves. The problem with people like that is that they would assume that you would not make the case big because of this neighbourliness factor. But these type of people forget that the other side can be bigger idiots than them if they want to. For instance if you call mbsj to tear down their renovations they wuould hold it against you and not blame themselves. I had a neighbour who fitted an air con compressor unit to blow close to my front door. Their contention is it is only air ? Cannot see also!! But they forget that the air is hot and the compressor is noisy. I did not want to talk with people like that so i built a wall against his compressor so the air effectlively blew back to his house. You know what , they finally relocated their air con because it was not cold since the compressor did not have sufficient air to circulate. These people are simply too much i tell you.

Make a complaint to MPSJ about the violation and tell them you didn't consent to the extension, take picture of the violation, get a lawyer to sue them!

How to take picture of a plain wall?? I have tried that nice guy approach. I really do not want to turn things sour but then....

Pictures will come on Wednesday. Where is that dusty camera of mine. Let me charge the batteries tonight.

Wah so drastic meh? Neighbour woh... Why not ask the neighbour a question, "Next time when I want to make some renovation on my side of the wall, how ar??" Let the neighbour tell u (Firefly) how it can be done, in good terms... then decide how to respond lor! That way, still goodie neighbours.

Nice Guy? It doesnt work here, bro, The love thy neighbour is not being praticed here especially your neighbour who build things without any consideration at all! Cant ignore it either as it is affecting you and your home. Protect your rights and demand from one from the authority and get a lawyer to sue for indemnity. ;)

This is a picture of the intrusion.

I have marked out the area with the red arrows. That intrusion stretched all the way up to the top of the 1st floor.

This is the gutter violation..

The water gush out of that pipe and into my driveway..that gutter is over 20mm into my premises.

If i am not wrong he has built a wall that is taking up his space only and not intruding into your side . That means the wall is on his side. Why he did not build up the common wall on your side also is beyond me. Maybe he does not want to do it for you but he could have simply asked you if you mind and if he is paying for it I am pretty sure that you would not mind! As for the gutter it is also resting on his side as far as I can see.what he has done is build the wall on his half of the common wall. Technically speaking he can get away with it but for neighbourly relationship they could have asked . As for the pipe water you will have to tell him to rectify it. If not it is very easily rectified. Get a piece of zinc. Wrap it round the part which juts out and slip the whole piece back into his gutter. Problem solved unless he does not want you to touch his gutter since it is on his side of the wall!! I think your neighbour very calculative and a little weird.

I have a cousin who wanted to build a common wall with his neighbour and asked the neighbour to share the costs since the land was quite big, huge bungalow lot. The neighbour said no need and dont want to pay anything. My cousin who also very kwai lan build the whole wall on his side of the land and left the other side unplastered!! There goes the neighbourbood. Since the wall was entirely on his side , the other fella could not say anything!!.

I think the over extrusion of the wall was due to the bad
workmanship of the contractor workers.
If you look at the wall of most USJ houses, they are all wavy.

I think you can discuss with your neighbor and inform him
that because the line is not consistent, it does not look nice.
Perhaps, the contractor can sand off some of it and make
the line straight, especially at the bottom portion.

IMO, as for a slight 20mm over, it is not significant if you bear with it.
Other than the unsightly inconsistent line, the extrusion
is not going to have any negative impact.
But if you really cannot tahan it, then you can asked the neighbor
to replaster the wall, else you report to MPSJ.
Replastering the wall may manifest ugly cracks later from the joints between the new and old cements. (not sure of this).
Perhaps you could check with MPSJ first to find out where you
stand before talking to the neighbor.

As for the pipe, the neighbor must correct it to ensure
the rain water do not pour onto your side.

I can't see anything wrong with the 1st picture, what "intrusion" you referingt to?

The 2nd picture, you should ask them to fix it, water leaking to your side is a definitely no no.
