I saw something today on the road in USJ 1 that made me really sad. And so I'm doing something about it now as I felt so helpless then. I would be prepared for the next time.

If we see an animal in distress ie accident or mishap and if we need assistance urgently to help it/them, who can we call? Anyone?

Last year I saw a hit-and-run...speeding satria ran over a stray doggy and the poor fella unconscious for a while and then started whining...Put the fella into my car and drove to the vet...luckily no internal injuries but a broken front leg which needed an operation...Cost RM2K but the vet kind enuf to give some discount since not my doggy :D The fella took some months to heal and I have since passed him to a kind old couple for adoption..

A poor beaten up cat wondered into my kitchen area one day two years ago. I gave him some food and he didnt' want to leave. Been staying with us every since. Look at him now:

Yes, Raikonen. You've a place in heaven, I'm pretty sure. Definitely gomen agencies were furthest from my mind. Was thinking of private organisations like Paws etc but even they can't respond immediately.

I do what I can usually and have helped dogs, cats and even birds from the time I was young, much to the chagrin of mom of course, but this time I was helpless as I had little kids with me and a tight schedule to keep. Otherwise, I really don't mind being inconvenienced for an animal in need. A stray dog in pain and fear can retaliate quite badly. I'm not brave enough to go back much later to see what had happened to the poor thing.

The image of a dog shot but still alive at the porch of a church in Ipoh with the gomen shooter lurking around still haunts me. Was walking to school then. I was trying to make it get up and run, not realising it was dying.

It's not easy to help any animal that has trauma, cats or dogs could bite you badly if you try to help, evenif you are the owner they could attack.

You could carry a thick blanket in the car, if you can wrap the animal to avoid getting clawed or bitten then you could drive the animal to the nearest vet.
I learnt this as a child, saw a neighour do it it, but i have to say she did it very quickly with confidence so the dog had no time to react.

I know how you feel...dont beat yrself over it...And yes a dog in pain can be really a handful..I remembered the time after the operation where the dog just lay down there for weeks!!! Without moving!! Had to put wee wee pad under him and turn him around every now and then to avoid his muscle degenerate and also sores...And he was in pain and can really bite...Bit off a chunk of the 4x6 wood i use to let him bite so that i could turn him over...

Didnt think he would survived but he's a really happy fella now from what i know...

And i think everyone would do the same thing if one were to see such a sight and cant possibly allowed the suffering..oh no except the recent johor council people who murdered the stray dog mercilessly...
