Hi Guys,

Just wanted to share something I saw in thestar online:

http://thestar.com.my/archives/2011/3/29/central/m_01colourful.jpg

The story mentioned this:

Welfare dept bent on eradicating KL of beggars (http://thestar.com.my/metro/story.asp?file=/2011/3/29/central/8360525&sec=central)

My question is, are our authorities over-zealous in doing their job, that this street perfomers are labelled as "colorful" beggars?

My opinion is those guys probably took so much effort to buy the paint, paint themselves with matching clothes & shoes. In foreign countries, aren't these performers highlights at public parks?

Share your comments guys.

selective prosecution as its best.
Typical bolehlander's underhand tactic.

i hv seen these BBintang colourful buskers at 'work'... they stand still and let mainly blur sotongtourists taking pix nxt 2 'em...then they hopefully get paid according to the tourists' whims...of course, many peep will stand a bit away and snap for free lah...

In the land of madu, projet, angkasacawan dll...such busking passivity is not classified a 'work'...begging for rent seeking projet is 'work'.

I saw a guy painted up like in the pictures on a beca in marina sands and people were giving him tips to have their pictures taken with him. It was in the building itself meaning that the person could be working for marina sands. But that is spore. The fellas here would not even know it if a truck hit them in the head.

some people they sell their skills like singing, being a 'statue' and etc just to earn some money... what about other beggers.... like today, i was at Masjid Jamek LRT, there were beggers on the staircases..why arent they taking any action and DBKL building is just a stone throw away...

and even at pasar malam, those handicapp (i have nothing against them) why are they there? even at my housing area, how do they get there? syndicate??

Anything not in their range of "kebudayaan" tak boleh terima! Budaya barat, budaya kuning! Blardy myopic gomen Lil Napeoleons! Just wait, they are gonna ban Michael Learns To Rock!

just go to Jln Tuanku Abdul Rahman (near Globe Silk Store) and Masjid India and you would see a few blind musicians "playing" their portable keyboards with off-keyed tunes...

I am not against these fellas but if they are 'entertaining' and being 'paid' for it... I guess other street performers should also be allowed to 'entertain' too... at least they are "earning" a living....

not like some people I know - like being appointed as "advisors" and whatnots... God only know what advise these clowns dishes out... These are the leeches that ought to be arrested instead...

Why don't they get rid of these that roam the night markets?

They should round up all the beggars and send them home. They should give our street performers a chance to earn a bit of money because our gomen is more concerned with all their etps, kps, mrt and what nots.
