There's a circulating rumour that Maths and Science will be reverted to BM again, by 2012.

The rumours seem to come from publishing houses who has published text books for Form 1 and Form 4 next year to be distributed to SMKs, and they are all in Malay.

Anyone can verify?

I had tot that it was initially BM, then changed to English.

I had tot it stayed as English for those even caught in "mid-stream".

My daughter was first batch doing Math/Science in English since Form 1. She's now in Form 3, still being taught Math/Science in BM.

With rumor, I'm told that her entire class of Form 4 (next year) will be taught Math/Science in Malay (after 3 years of foundation in English, and reverting back to BM for Form 4 and 5?!!!).

My understanding is that she will not be affected, and will Maths/Science curriculum being taught in English for Form 4 (2012) and Form 5 (2013). But with recent "rumors", it seems that this is not the case.

She is extremely frustrated with the "rumours".

No man, they came up with a "WISE" decision of kick starting the malay as the teaching language for form 4 and std 4, instead of starting from std 1!..why...i dont think, even GOD wouldnt know?!

The irony of it.
When it was changed from BM to English, the supporters didn't think how difficult it was for those " that have difficulty with the english language" can pass their exam or not.

C'mon, if you have to pass BM, than you better be able to do Science and Maths in BM too. How difficult is that ?

If your kids learned science and math in English, be grateful that that they were given the exposure for even a brief period. If they have a good grasp in the English language, they are definitely not at the losing end.
Just brush up in BM ( it's compulsory anyway)
If they study in the national schools, the change would be seamless.

Worst than that; I read from the newspaper, std 1 science lessons will be reduced from 5 lessons a week to 2 lessons a week.

what to do - (a lot of ) teachers probably have no time to teach in classes since they moonlight as tuition teachers.... ironic isn't it.

don't believe? just go and peek during your kids' classes and see how many teachers are actually teaching and how many are asking your kids to "buat buku kerja".... without proper explanations.

....And who provides these teachers with the supply of students and demand for tuition teachers....parents themselves.Parents also don't sent their kids to just any tuition teachers. These teachers are suppose to be good...yes ?
Yes, ironic..
Why these teachers can give tuition and why do they have the time to do so ?
Why even bother to give tuition ? Holding one job not enough is it ?
Perhaps, a school teacher cum tuition teacher is in a better position to explain, than us speculating.
