New structure for traffic offences
The more you delay, the more you pay – this is the principle that has been approved by the Cabinet in the restructuring and streamlining of fines issued for traffic offences that are deemed less serious.

Makes good sense rather than the discount and lelong!!
The whole concept of these fines is wrong, very wrong. It is supposed to act as a deterrent for people to commit offences and not as a source of revenue for the government. This is to prevent accidents from happening. What is happening now is that those who can pay would carry on speeding because they can pay and they can still go on driving their fancy cars. It should act as a deterrent and those who constantly break the laws should be made to pay more and even have their licenses revoked and if they are caught driving still, they should be jailed. Like what is happening in some european countries where the amount of fines is determined by a persons income and some guys were fined a few hundred thousand for speeding. Enforcement is the issue and irrespective of who is driving the law should be equally enforced but then again this is 1malaysia. Got money can settle everything.

You've nailed it !
That is why almost every Singaporean plate you see on the NSE - will overtake you with their headlights blazing... what is RM300 after you convert your SIN$... :p
Others ( Msians ) who can afford the fines, will continue to flout the law or the usual "who you know" to settle the summonses...

With legal representation costs going up inevitably, you offenders want to contest a Rm300 fine in court?... Best you avoid getting samaned..thats the only way for anyone. YOU'RE ALL NAILED this time through and through!.. So if any authority wants to frame you up?. you're nailed! Right or wrong, the onus is on you to prove you're right..otherwise just happily compound the saman lor!

Is saman ekor now valid ??? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLQ_BA96hhY&feature=player_embedded#at=83)
Watch this and wonder out aloud !! Ask any lawyer if the law can be backdated.... no wonder the darn police and Hishamuddin had been harping to the general public.... to clear as many outstanding summonses...
And especially the subject of privatisation of speeding enforcement.... doesn't it makes the subject of ENTRAPMENT very obvious!
