Anyone has the experience of going to Immigration Department of Malaysia, Damansara Branch on Saturday & Sunday?
I just want to make sure that whether their website stated that open counter service for renewal passport on Saturday & Sunday is true or not ...
Please help ....

Thanks Veejay... and he got the cheek to write in big bold red! How selfish these people are, can't even call the Immigration dept or google their website or call 103 to get the dept's number, expect other forumers to do the googling and the checking for them... really got me pissed on a Sunday afternoon!

they closed subang t3 office, it is a tough one for find this kelana jaya branch.
you go thru the stadium and enter glomac and go under a tunnel like structure, you reach it, it is beside the entrance to NKVE. from subang you cannot get in from the highway.
very small office............suzuki cup spoiled our plans to renew our passports.
they closed subang t3 office
I renewed my passport Oct 2010 at Subang T3 office. Was the closure after the date?

Come one, the guy was obviously just looking for some confirmation from people who have had first hand experience with the situation. There's no harm in asking. This is after all a public forum. If you know the answer and you feel like helping, then just post a reply. Who knows, your helping this time might even be beneficial for someone else who might be interested in the same question.
There's no need to be sarcastic and bombard the poor guy. This kind of bullying response is what's driving people away from asking valid and innocent questions in this forum.

If you're just doing normal renewal and your old passport is the chip-based type, it's actually pretty convenient to just use the renewal kiosk. I did mine recently at the Shah Alam branch in Kompleks PKNS. Reached there at 10am, submitted the application through the kiosk within 5 minutes and collected my new passport at 11.45am. Read this for more info

There are always kind people in this world and one of them wrote this guideline from the link given (May 2009) :
Then, assuming you are driving to the Immigation office in Pusat Bandar Damansara, here’s the idiot guide:
1. enter using the Giant Supermarket side. This is behind McDonalds for those who don’t visit this area regularly.
2. Giant will be on your left. Proceed to the parking entrance – take a ticket.
3. The Immigration Department will be on your right as you pass the ticket booths. It’s located in Block I (“I” for Immigration, geddit?). Look for a KIPPAS sign after the crowd of people – that’s the one you want to enter.
4. Go into the underground parking on the right about 10 metres after entering the parking ticket booths. Proceed straight to Level 4 or below, all other higher levels are reserved parking only.
5. Park car. Adjust makeup. Lock car.
6. Climb up the stairs to Level 1 (there’s no level G in Pusat Bandar Damansara, the architect must have trained in the US). Level 1 = ground floor.
7. Proceed straight to the KIPPAS room you saw earlier on your way in.
8. As you enter the KIPPAS room, take an envelope to the left on the table. It’s only a small envelope, just nice to put your passport inside.
9. Proceed to any available kiosk, preferably one that is working. You may think I am joking, but machines are quite often “down” – which makes one wonder why don’t they just sack the company providing these machines and appoint a new one?
10. Press the touch screen to begin. It’s like operating a cheque deposit machine, detailed and precise instructions are provided on the screen. If you are unsure where you are supposed to stick your old passport or IC or cash or the envelope, check on the screen – the area which is supposed to abused will be flashing.
11. Choose renewal, then place your passport in the slot provided on the bottom left side of machine. Machine will read it. If it can’t read it, you’re screwed – you have to do things the manual way, which is very painful. More painful than a wisdom tooth extraction without anaesthetic.
12. Place your IC when prompted in the slot on the bottom left side of machine, below where you placed your old passport. Make sure you stick the IC facing up, with the chip side in first. Do not take out your passport yet. Machine will now scan your IC. If it can’t read it, you’re screwed – you have to do things the manual way, which is very painful. More painful than an amputation without anaesthetic. Because now you have to proceed to the Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) mini office door to do something to make your IC machine readable, otherwise even the manual method won’t even work. Be prepared for raised tempers and murderous feelings towards anyone in the close vicinity of you.
13. Place right or left thumb on thumbprint reader on the right side. Machine will now read your thumbprint. I had to press on the scanner really hard, close to breaking point of the glass, but that’s another story. If machine fails to read your thumbprint, you’re screwed, and you have to proceed to applying the manual method, fighting with grannies, grandpas, aunties and uncles and their pets. Good luck.
14. When thumbprint is verified, you will be prompted to remove the old passport and IC. You will then be asked for payment. The machine only accepts RM50 and RM100 notes. Bring more cash than necessary – the machine is sometimes known to be very very picky. No torn or stapled notes, no cellphaned notes. Put notes in one by one, don’t stuff the entire RM300 in. Once done, machine will prompt you to take your old passport, one photograph and a photocopy of your MyKAD/IC, and place all of them in the envelope you collected in step 8 above. Write your name, IC number as well as contact number (handphone preferred, so if you plan to wait while your passport is renewed, they can at least call you if they encounter a problem in processing).
15. Stuff passport into the “bin” – the slot is at the bottom right side of the machine. The machine will now print a receipt (see picture) which you will use to claim your brand spanking new passport later.
16. After two hours, proceed to Block I, Level 2 using the escalator (the main entrance is to the left of the KIPPAS room as you exit), proceed straight to counter 16 and hand over the receipt. You will be given a queue number for collection.
17. Exercise patience while waiting. If the “system is down” (a frequent occurence in the Immigration Office), be prepared to wait, for how long, I can’t tell. When I collected mine, I had to wait for around 45 minutes. The excuse given was the system “upstairs” was down although the machine “downstairs” was working fine when I used it. Maybe they should buy some Viagra for their machines so that they remain “up” always.
18. Collect your new passport by showing them your MyKAD/IC and placing your thumbprint in the reader. So, you cannot authorise someone to collect for you, unless you are a VIP (in which case I think the Immigration DG may personally deliver your passport to your house/office), unless you plan on handing over your IC (simple), and also cutting off your thumb (easy, but painful) and passing it to the person whom you want to collect the passport on your behalf.

Exactly! He is skeptical (given how our govt depts operate) about them operating during the weekend, thus he just wants confirmation from someone who has done it before. Simple and straightforward. Did that warrant a sarcastic remark?

Good thing i made full use of it before it closed. But Glomac isn't too far so it's not too bad. No idea about the parking there though.

Refer to my posting on Cari Makan at:
http://www.usj.com.my/bulletin/upload/showthread.php?t=31142&highlight=long+table
Although this was a posting on the Long Table Restaurant, the direction and map is applicable as the new Immigration Office is actually one floor below on the next block attached, so I was told. Maybe whilst you are there you may want to check out the restaurant! (Sorry, Long Table is not halal.)
Just did my daughter's Passport renewal today at PKNS, Shah Alam.
Arrived at 2.15. Took photos there[you can also Photocopy IC and buy your pen from a nice old lady :D ]
Decided not to use Kiosk as there wasn't much of a crowd. Got a new Passport for her, had a tea break while waiting and was on the highway back to SJ by 3.45.
Pretty efficient, and surprisingly friendly and jovial staff there.:D

Thanks for sharing your experience with us Kuma. Need to renew my passport soon and PKNS one will be it.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us Kuma. Need to renew my passport soon and PKNS one will be it.
You are welcome :D
Couple of useful tips for your trip there:
> I prefer to go in the afternoon because everyone else will usually do this in the morning. Try to time yourself to arrive just after 2pm....parking will be easier as the lunch crowd leave the complex.
> Go on a weekday, should equate with less crowd.
> Best to take Photo there [RM10 for 4 pcs] - your photo is sure to be approved :D...you also need 1 copy of your IC, front and back on same side of A4.
> Check the crowd, if lots of people, try the Kiosk [there are 2]
> Otherwise, pick up Form, fill up and return to counter, get a number, wait to be called and Form and other stuff verified, then wait to be called to Pay, then you will be informed to collect after 1 hour.
> Lots of Cafes on Grd Flr to choose from while you wait, but if you're the type that gets 'queasy' easily, I suggest sticking to McD or the Kebab joints :D
> BTW, Good idea to visit your loo at home before you go
> You would have been told to return after 1 hr to collect your Passport...however, unless you saw a big crowd waiting there, you can try your luck to pick faster. I dropped my receipt in the collection box after 40 mins and collected Passport 10 mins later.
Immigration is on 2nd Flr....take the lift at far end [near Bank, CIMB?? or is it Affin, not sure]....out of lift, Kiosk is on right...turn left, walk 10 meters for Passport office which is on Left [ if doing Maid Visa, its the office on Right]
Stroll around....though the PKNS building is kind of run down....lots of 'nick-nacks' to buy, and if you choose to cycle there, not to worry as there is a bicycle repair shop out at the back...Have Fun :)

Thanks for your useful tips. Is birth cert required? :)
If renewing passport for adults, its faster to do it through the kiosk. Of course you need to have all relevant photos/documents ready first. I did mine in Terminal 2 last November. I had posted about it before. Its incredibly fast. And Kuma is right, after lunch about 2pm is the best time.

I was not asked for it, though the guidelines on Immigration website says that it is required.
Probably if you are applying for your very 1st Passport, then it may be required.

Went to Immigration at Glomac at SS7 (Kelana Jaya) this morning. In and out within 1 hours for renewal of passport.
I went to passport office today at damansara.
I came at 1 pm and waited until 3:30 pm after getting my number. And there are still 200 people ahead of me waiting to submit their form.
I finally went back without submitting as it close at 5 pm. I counted it took 10 minutes just to submit one form.
What happened to the 2 hours rule ?
Anywhere I can submit faster during this festive season ?

I went to passport office today at damansara....
If you were at Damansara Heights, you should have gone to the kiosk section - get yr documents checked and queue up at the kiosk to pay and submit. Then you probably come back the next working day to collect the passport - no need to wait for hours like what you did there.
Other quick place is in Putrajaya.

The kiosk machines section is closed. The machines are semi-automatic and needs people which has a severe shortage on hari raya days.

hello kawan kawan - for your information, you can renew your passports ONLINE (https://eservices.imi.gov.my/myimms/myPassport)
just upload your picture (as per format ) and follow the instructions... that easy!
Payment via CREDIT CARD and you can specify your "fav" collection office... :p

FYI ~ since we're mentioning about ONLINE SERVICES, you can also get your MYKAD replaced ONLINE (http://mykadganti.jpn.gov.my/), pay by creditcard (SSL) and then "choose" where to pick it up...

I went to the immigration dept in Plaza Glomac last month to renew my passport via the kiosk machine. Reach there at 2pm & collected my passport about 3.15pm. Very fast & efficient.
