View Full Version : Leadership By Example??

Today I had parked my car somewhere in front of Baskin Robbin in Taipan. At about 12.20pm when I came out of the bank, I found a car had double parked and was blocking me. On the dashboard were two properly printed and laminated signs that read (see below):

'AHLI MAJLIS MPSJ' and

'SORRY I AM NEARBY PLEASE CALL 019 2223348'

Along came an MPSJ enforcement officer who promptly issued a summon and placed a yellow tag on the side mirror. SYABAS!!

Isnt it sad for an AHLI MAJLIS MPSJ to commit such an offence? And from evidence of the pre-printed and laminated card, isnt it sadder that a Councillor had premeditated intention to commit such an offence?

Cerdiknya Sang Kancil ini with computer printed number and message but without showing of his name and title.
Somehow, the enforcer are either brave like a lion to summon or stupid like a donkey to ignore it.
If I were the officer, I would have the time and balls to reply with a handwritten message - I am MPSJ officer on my round and found you are not near your car. Cant call you as it is not approved by the MPSJ to make call to your celphone. Kindly approve it at the next MPSJ meeting. Thank you your attention and sorry for the saman.

Signed,
Mean MPSJ officer who mean business by the book to book.

Great job, Pat.
I bet the Councillor knows what he doing & he's sure to get a waiver claiming he's on official duty. Whatever, it's bad image for Ahli-ahli Majlis !!!
How about emailing the photo to the Star and you could win RM 50-00 :-

or better still, Patrick can email the pix and send a note to the MB
"Tan Sri Khalid" <khalid@selangor.gov.my>,
on this supposedly councillor (certainly NOT gua punya SJ local elected leader) showing leadership by example tutup1mata style.

Amaran sudah kasi.

If he is really an MPSJ Councillor, he should resign because he broke the law and bring shame to the council itself. He also showed his stupidty anyway. Anyone know who the heck is this fella? Paste his photo here and shame him and remember his face should MPSJ be the first to conduct local elections....

Whether he is really Ahli Majlis MPSJ is still questionable... so, let's give them benefits of doubts. Maybe someone here can verify with MPSJ councillors if the car owner belongs to Ahli Majlis MPSJ?

Isn't all this typical, from one camp or another, there'll always be flers who think they're above the law and think they're perks that come with authority or position. Sadly this land is diseased or thrives with corruption, abuse, deceit, dishonesty, cheats, unethical or unbecoming behavoir. AND YOU GARMEN INSIST THE RAKYAT TO BE EXEMPALARY and LAW ABIDING citizens? Sickening! String these flers up!

Mr Robert SC Tan, shame on you! If you have the conscience, apologise publicly and stop throwing your weight around Subang Jaya or USJ. Otherwise RESIGN and take responsibility...

I hope MPSJ enforcement is reading this threat and hope they will enforce the laws, irrespective of Ahli Majlis or not..

I also wish they check those hardware shops and car accessories shops in SS14 who hogged the parking slots from early morning till they close shops. If they had rented a parking lot, I would be OK with it but most do not and some even hogged 2 parking lots. This is one of reasons there is a lack of parking lots in SS14.

MPSJ official vehicles are seen flouting double parking or park just about anywhere convenient. They MUST also find suitable parking if they're on duty doing some enforcement or whatever. It could likely be that they're not "just there" for a minute or so. If its said that "NO-ONE is above the law"..then it appropriately applies to all. But ironically who's going to police the police?
Welcome to bolehwood!

Kudos to Patrick on this topic!.. Candidate for among the best topic for 2011?

just for the record, this Ahli called me the other night to apologise.

I can accept that the man in the street who leaves his contact number on the car, has at least shown some consideration. But the fact remains that as a so called community leader, committing such an offence is unacceptable. And what message is one trying to communicate when one leaves such a placard on the car announcing one's position as an Ahli Majlis? That I am above the law? Or that I can double park?

Anyway, an apology has been extended; let's close this subject and hope this doesnt happen again.

Let's all look forward to a better year ahead.

Out of curiosity - I am wondering if the fella had paid the summons or got it waived... if I am not mistaken, getting a MPSJ saman equals to a hefty RM80 ( or RM40, if on appeal.... which is eqv to 10 bowls of Prawn Mee...!)

If he paid - then it is FAIR la... but if he got it waived, then I oso wanna be MPSJ kuncu.... can ah? :p

Anyway, I think he won't tell you, nor dare to meyampuk into this forum topic. :D

Patrick, you are such a nice guy, accepting his private apology. I would still think this guy needs to apologize publicly for making a mockery of his councillorship... he should offer his resignation at best!

A forumer called it a mistake, one time is a mistake but to have it laminated isn't a one-time thing, it is a constant abuse! As a councillor, he is supposed to help with the traffic management improvement of haphazard Taipan but instead he added on by double-parking and summore got the cheek to display his "POWER"! How can we make motorists park at the multi-level parking lots if a councillor openly displays disdain for the multi-level car park? This councillor must explain to the forum why he did what he did, no two way about it!

Only readers of this forum may know about this incident, and hundreds of thousands of others not know it. Probably he think a private apology is adequate and nothing to loose sleep about. But thats NOT the point nor the way. Its a serious matter if viewed seriously and whow knows how long its been going on and maybe there's others who maybe doing the same, just they're fortunate not to be spotted. In this land, rakyat expect leaders and people of authority to be exampalary. Perhaps the matter should be forwarded to SELCAT? Whether they take action or not is another story.
Sentinel is absolutely spot on. Drone and instill people to do the right thing with the use of the law or regulations, yet personally flout the same exact issue.

Luckily, I have known Patrick, so I gonna to defend him FOC as a wannabe counsel attorney. But then Patrick would likely to shake off dust after a offer handshake of apology from the other party as a gentleman would be.
Last but not least, He was brave enough to be the Lion to post in full color. Therefore, I rest my case. ( though I might be freaking mad why he didnt kick his opponent butt .) :D ;) :D
