If your kid tells you that this coming Monday and Tuesday are school holidays, you better believe them though you read in the papers that only schools in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur are the only ones affected. This is in view of the NAM Summit. But I am scratching my head how are our schools in our community can be affected by what is going on in the city centre. These two days will have to be replaced using Saturdays and this will create another set of problem to many. The Education Dept has issued a circular saying all schools in the Petaling District are affected. Hopefully, your kid are being well informed by the school and I am also telling you this or else you will just routinely drop them at the school come Monday morning and just drive on to your office. For kindergarten, you have to check with them. If you are working in KL, you better get yourself an MC and spend quality time with your school going children. Many roads will be closed on Mon and you wouldn't want to go thru the same nightmare as what happened on last Monday, would you?

Ai Yoo Yoo, How can we teach our children? Take MC and spend quality time with our children. We should be applying for leave and spend quality time with our children. Please don't cheat pur children or else they will cheat us one day because of our doing.

Surprsingly, I received quite a number of emails and phone calls on this announcement of mine. All of them are in the dark. But nobody asked me how to obtain a MC!! I was quite puzzle why a simple dissemination of information varies from school to school and guess what I found out.

The Education minister talks and is still talking so much about equipping their Science and Mathematic tachers with very canggih notebooks and LCD projectors while its hundreds of Education Departments at district level is still without email facilities.

This is how they communicate in the age of ICT and MSC. At the Petaling District Education Dept in Shah Alam are pigeon holes for all the schools under its jurisdiction for its one way communication. Thus, when they issued a circular about the NAM holidays, they merely placed these circulars in the respective schools' pigeon hole. The onus is on the schools to collect these circulars. I understand from at least 4 schools in SJ/USJ that they send their office boys to do so ranging from once to thrice a week. Nobody does it everyday. So, that explains why some of you still have not being officially informed. Maybe the office boy is on MC so no collection totally. I know of a school after having being bombarded with numerous phone calls forced themself to check their mailbox two days ago. Guess what happens next? They called for a special assembly on Thurs morning just to make the announcement. They don't intend to hand out the notice. So how do we as parents authenticate this message?

Hey excuse me for a moment, my Std 1 kid just came back from her school and is trying to say something to me. Let's hear what she has to tell papa.

"What! @#&!%# What do you mean Monday to next Tuesday no school ........... Sure or not. Don't bluff ah. Ah yo yo. How to take one week leave lah. Must go and see Dr. MC Quek again....."

U mean these 'smart schools' and 'sekolah wawasan' are not even connected to the net to have simple things such as e-mail correspondence with the education department? No wonder they are called such,... they have smart and vision, but no action...

Anyway, so is it confirmed that monday and tuesday are school holidays in sj/usj?
