Again I just recommended what I think it's good and worth to be shared...no other intention and let you all comment it once you have tried it.Thanks for the recommendation, Andy. Don't worry about some comments about you being having a vested interest, its free world anyway. There are others who have been busy promoting their food and themselve all this while, no whats the diff?

Yep, I am been promoting myself as the Mean Chef who meant what he said. The heavy promotionj with links from American Cancer Society to MSGtruth.com, from American Hearth Assoication to Consumer of Penang where they have been warned from KFC to Maggi Mee, MacD to Coke of unhealthy processed food and artificial contents.
But the heaviest promotions were carried out from the threads started and number of replies are promoting awaqreness on politics without fears or favors. Buttheading the PR or showing butt to the BN have had been the signature of the mean chef as the chef is not a cook with political afflliation to get favours from the state govt or national govt to get a piece of action or land. No hidden agendas here but merely promoting awareness. heck, I dont even have dual nicks but just one nick that stand up like a sore thumb to those who do not like my postings. ;) ;)
BTW, somebody did dedicate a song - starry starry night song that reflected on to a stupid mean chef who thinks like Van Gohr. Both of them were passionate about cooking and painting instead of making monies of thier trade.
That about cooking and this about posting is just the mean chef of saying - money is not the main consideration though important. But the passion is - especially it is healthy, yet tasty enough to be apprecaited by many. :)

Alwin, I respect your stand. You are what we call an eccentric... a good chef who just wants to cook great dishes... you don't care about the commercial part.

In fact I told Tupai that night... you are like Vincent van Gogh (Starry, starry night... painted pictures blue & grey...) only want to paint beautiful pictures and make sure people love it and do not care about selling these pictures at all...

So, let me share these lyrics from the song Vincent with you, it should make sense:

But I could have told you Vincent
This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you

Heck, I was called eccentric! http://www.usj.com.my/bulletin/upload/showthread.php?t=28372 :D ;) :D
But seriously, posting in usj.com really have some great advices and recomendations as reflected in the above link

I invited a usj.com.my forumer to dinner, at the SJ one&only famous MSG Free and the self-proclaimed 'infamous & mean' chef Alwin's restaurant, last nite.

As per my previous 4 visits, my choice is 'Surprise Ala Carte' meaning, that whatever this-not-so-mean-(actually very chatty & friendly)-chef dish out, I will eat it. Anything except animal 'internal & spare parts', half cooked chicken, exotic/wild meat

anyway...We had the starter that looks like a 'giant popiah'. A generous portion of a few kind of vege, shrimp, meat etc wrapped in kinda tortilla skin. The name? Dunno #1

The soup is a light kinda tomota soup with a hint of cabbage and dunno whatkinda spices. The name? Dunno #2

The mini-main course is a chuck of scallop (melts in your mouth) sitting onto a piece of baked baquette, garnished with some kinda dunno what...
The name? Dunno #4

The other mini-main course, is a piece of very tender beef with a slice of potato, sandwiched in between. Juicy, tender and very tasty indeed. The name? Dunno #5.

The dessert is bread puddingish kinda cake accompanied by chocolate ice cream at the side. A good Wrap up. teh name/ Dunno #6.

The chaser? One of the finest scottish single malt. We cleaned out 2 X 1/3 filled bottles...and had loadsa laughs while at it.

The Overall 4+hr experience?
-The ambiance is 4.5*
-The service is 5*
-The food is 5*
-The chef's company is 5*
-The price is very malu affordable...another 5*.

U gotta try this 'Surprise ala carte'.

Yang Banyak kenyang latotupai

p/s ... the other forumer (a gourmet himself) asked the Chef to open a similar but 'higher class' outlet (read as more expensive) in Mont Kiara /Solaris/Dmasara Hts and can make a killing there! That i believe is his testimonial/review of the food last nite...
. :) :)

People make mistakes, I withdraw my remarks... I was wrongly informed you were not commercially motivated but I guess I was wrong. Thats why being gracious I repeated what I was told, it was a stupid mistake on my part. You are not the Vincent van Goh type...

But Andy2007 and others should be allowed freely to come and share with us the good food joints where food are really good and superb service, no? Not everyone has arestaurant or has vested interest...

Patrick used to promote places where there are good food, and I have always searched for those places when I was staying in USJ... this is a free forum, this is a free world, we should allow people to introduce other good food joints....

All of us should be allowed freedom to do what we want, even if we choose not to participate in some charity programs if we choose not to. We don't have to be called names, reminded we were born with nothing and will leave with nothing, what freaking right has others to dictate what the others should do?

Cool it again folks.

You guys forget that I allow for the promotion of food outlets. If not, I would have taken them out a long time ago. The reason we have to allow such promotions is because we have a Cari Makan section run by Patrick. He also writes editorials on good food places in this website.

The people who promote their own food actually do so with a double-edged sword in their hands. The customers cannot be hood-winked. If the food is not good, the visit will be their last. This is also a forum ... customers can also provide negative feedback here.

And by the way, I believe people can see through the hype ... so self advertisements actually back-fire because readers generally go for 3rd-party comments rather than believe the chef or the restaurant owner !! :D

To be fair, you are not wrong as many came and saw and see it fit to even accused me of being eccentric or probably worse..... I was accused of being a money launderer by Tupai himself!

As I have said, money is important for I like to drive a red Ferrari instead of red Sagalari. However, I place passion and pride in my creation or cooking up a good meals with the agenda to rediscover good old value meals with herbs and spices. Equally important , how the food is being prepare without artificial flavor, colorings or some unhealthy pratice with recycle oil or even plastic straws to make chicken crispy. And with its USP, hopefully I can prevail to set up from here to PJ, Ipoh to Penang, Asia to America.

I am truly sad sometimes forumers would pick and bicker over this and that out of misunderstanding or out of context. Actually, it was a non issue especially when it comes to charity. Whatmore, if somebody wanna to advertise thier shop as a owner or not. :o

I took the potshot where just like clfoo who couldnt resist the temptation of the aptly name of big mouth. Even Franky asked - self advetisement. I dont usually comment on other restaurants unless it is MCD or KFC because in many ways I do advertise as my signature with Zinglcious is here and there. The real intention is to tell the owner if he is self advertising, comes up front and clean for it would bring more goodwills and business for him. ;)

Finally, for those who misunderstood my intention, kindly accept my apology if you are offended. I am a mean Chef who means what I have cooked and said. :)

Meanwhile, I still believe the critics at usj.com are the meanest and could be hell to those who post here because they did it without fears or favors:eek:

Yes, I agree, I am sad too. Unfortunately it was you and Jan Tomaswaki who started all these bickerings and nobody else. Just because people don't want to participate, you guys make silly and public comments in this forum. Ask yourself, who the **** are you to criticise people's decision PUBLICLY?

Yes, I am so pissed with the two of you - one afternoon of charity work and you run down some forumers especially me. Ayam telor sebiji, riuh sekampong!

You mean you can slap someone and then say the thing is over? Just like that? People have to listen to your instructions? Your wishes? Your orders?

If you don't want to harp on it, then you and your tonto should just stop insinuating.

Just because you say so, every body has to shuddup, is it?

I am sad and pissed that my reply got vanished in thin air. Maybe the plantation manager deemed it as offensive where I see it as a challenge to prove I am lackey or tonto.
And dont think I am being making silly comments. I have asked myself I am the *** chef who just meant to cook some decent meals for the old folks , orphange and single mums whereas you are here to cook up some silly french fries to satisfy your ego. Please ask yourself and kindly paste comment with the threads to show that I have make one comment to start bickering or criticise people for not donating. All the while I am just thank people for donating without publicity like the anoymous forumers who given monies and toys and some have donated the whole family time to washed dishes like Xin rong, Jan Ironman, Mwong X woman and frien who cleared dishes and serving the kids.
Wonder why you are so pissed at us for doing something for charity which took weeks of TT with the forumers where Tupai to Jan, mwong to Sylnx and also many others and had make these 3 days of events to bring some smiles to kids and toothless old folks.

BTW, If any fellow forumners who feel offended that the charity eat for fund is a sham, Then I take up the responsiblity to apologise on behalf of those who had made these events a successful smiles to the old folks and orphanges as we are accused of being doing one afternoon of charity work - Ayam telor sebiji, riuh sekampong by the lone cockerel.
As I have said - no offense - it is just for charity and there are Jan who didnt wanna to print his company logo on the banner which bores other donors company logo though out of his own expenses , monies, gifts, and the whole family time and effort to help clearing dishes. BTW, I did get to drink a glass from the whole carton of wine he donated for all these 3 consective events but nothing beats the rousing thank you from the kids and a personal handshake from each old folks. :) :)

I am just an ordinary man like anybody in the street.Though not rich like alot of ppl but i am willing to start something for the benefit of the not-so-"happy" ppl.Should any forumers feel my earlier comments offend any of you all ,pls feel to comment and put in record,be it negative or positive.I will repond to you publicity in the forum or PM.Pls do it. ;)
The way Zing Rest. operate in this charity event ,he is not any making money, indeed my 2 restoran friends comment on him toward this noble act.My makan friends said "this crazy fellow for i pay this amount i get wine, beer and food just keep coming even it is 10.30pm,-he is wasting his time.
BTW the homes were from RUMAH CHARIS,and held in 2 weekends,1 for children, road sweepers, single mums (54pax) on Nov 14 and on 28Nov 25 old folks were serve 7course sit down lunch.
