Hi All,

I am looking for a good Chinese nanny/babysitter for my baby after my maternity leaves end in mid Mar 2011 onwards.

Preferably minding 3 or less children, 5 days/week (if possible including overnights).
Preferred location: USJ4, 6, 11, OR SS14, 15, 17, 18

Any recommendation and advice are highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Janice

Do you work at night? If not you should take care of your own baby at nights. This is best for bonding with your child.

Hi Janice

I have heard that there's a Chinese baby sitter in SS12 but not sure of the house. There's an Indian/Christian babysitter in SS12 whom parents have given good credits to the babysitter. She's currently taking care of 1 child 11 months old, 3 older children for now. If interested, let me know. Meanwhile I'll try to get more info on the Chinese b/sitter.

Hi LMei,
I am not working on night shifts, however both my husband and I finish work pretty late. By the time we return to SJ, it maybe already 8-9pm. I believe babies may be sleeping by then and I wouldn't hope to interrupt the baby's sleeping pattern. Furthermore, I am concern that some nannies may charge extra for the 'OTs'. Anyhow, overnight is not my 1st priority, as long as she is a good, caring and hygenic nanny and not taking care of >3 children at one time.

Hi Zico,
Preferably Chinese nanny. Christian is even better :). Anyhow, please let me know both the contacts if you have gotten more info.

Many thanks.

Janice

Talk to the babysitter on your requirements. Some are willing to take care until that time but with extra charge. It's still better for you to bring the baby home. Just set a bedtime routine for your baby.

As a working mother, i truly understand why Janice considers leaving her baby with nanny overnight...although this is not something a working mum prefers.

Imagine leaving office at 7+pm, going through traffic for an hour plus, reaching home bout 8+pm with an empty stomach...by the time you reach the nanny's place, the baby may be sound asleep or you will be struggling to stay awake for night feeding, changing diapers before waking up around 7 am for work the next morning! (worse if you dont have domestic helper which means apart from the baby, you still need to attend to simple house chores at night). I went through all that and I could tell you it's tough !

If you do think of leaving the baby with nanny overnight, please try to talk to the nanny to see if it's ok for you to come by to play with the baby everynight (for abt 10-15 min). Also, make it a point to babysit him/her yourself when the baby is not feeling well...

Ultimately, it all depend on how you much you can cope and manage your own stress. If you think you could cope with the night calls, of course, the most ideal is to bring home the baby every night. If not, try leaving him/her with nanny for night until he/she turns 1 - at least that was what i did.

Just sharing my experience.
