" In a world full of misinformation about nutrition, somehow most people now mistakenly think that the egg yolk is the worst part of the egg, when in fact, the YOLK IS THE HEALTHIEST PART OF THE EGG!

Yolks contain more than 90% of the calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, thiamin, B6, folate, and B12, and panthothenic acid of the egg. In addition, the yolks contain ALL of the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K in the egg, as well as ALL of the essential fatty acids (EFAs)."

Someone sent me this:

10 Health Benefits of Eggs :
1. Eggs are great for the eyes. According to one study, an egg a day may prevent mascular degeneraton due to the carotenoidcontent, specifically lutein and eaxanthin. Both nutrients are morereadily available to our bodies from eggs than from other sources.

2. In another study, esearchers found that people who eat eggs everyday ower their risk of developing cataracts, also because of the luteinand zeaxanthin in eggs.

3. One egg contains 6 grams of high-quality protein and all 9 essential amino acids.

4. According to a study by the Harvard School of Public Health, thereis no significant link between egg consumptio n and heart disease. Infact, ccording to one study, regular consumption of eggs may help prevent blood clots, stroke, and heart attacks.

5. They are a good source of choline. One egg yolk has about 300micrograms of choline. Choline is an important nutrient that helpsregulate the brain, nervous system, and cardiovascular system.

6. They contain the right kind of fat. One egg contains just 5 grams of fat and only 1.5 grams of that is saturated fat.

7. New research shows that, contrary to previous belief, moderate consumption of eggs does not have a negative impact on cholesterol. Infact, recent studies have shown that regular consumption of two eggsper day does not affect a person's lipid profile and may, in fact, improve it.

Research suggests that it is saturated fat that raises cholesterol rather than dietary cholesterol.

8. Eggs are one of the only foods that contain naturally occurring vitamin D.

9. Eggs may prevent breast cancer. In one study, women who consumed atleast 6 eggs per week lowered their ris k of breast cancer by 44%.

10. Eggs promote healthy hair and nails because of their high sulphurcontent and wide array of vitamins and minerals. Many people find their hair growing faster after adding eggs to their diet, especially if theywere previously deficient in foods containing sulphur or B12.

Aiyoh! Eat anything in moderation. Today they can tell you that this is bad; but tomorrow they'll tell you this is ok and that is bad. I eat the whole egg. I drink coffee, I take char koay teow, hokkien mee, bak kut teh, etc. All in moderation. I exercise, I do qigong, yoga , gardening, etc.

I am 60 years old. Be happy don't worry. And don't be a health freak, and neither be a foolish glutton. Do everything in moderation. :D :D :D

i have a colleague, who is into body building, eats 7 eggs a day (yes you read that right, 7 eggs) but then again, he only takes the white and throws away the yolk. i think i should highlight this to him.

I have a colleague who stirs a raw egg into his pure honey, then drink it up. He said it cures internal injury. :D

When I have my eggs, I eat 3 large ones in one go. Anything less, no shiok. I know a doctor friend who swears that eggs are good and he consumes eggs happily all the time. Throwing away the egg yolks is a waste.

Cskok8, I heard about eggshells too. They are apparently made up of calcium and 26 other elements, very similar in content to your bones and teeth. So how can we ‘eat’ them? Here is what I was told:
- Wash some empty eggshells in warm water and let them dry
- Break them into small pieces and grind them to into a fine powder. Coffee grinders work best but a blender or even a pestle and mortar will do. Store the powder in an airtight jar.
- Mix 1/2 teaspoon of powdered eggshell with the juice of half a freshly squeezed lemon. The solution will start to bubble and foam.
- Leave at room temperature for 6-12 hours and that's it! It's ready to take.
Half a teaspoon of eggshell gives you about 400mgs or calcium citrate, which is the recommended amount you should take each day.
Has anyone heard about this and tried it yet?

Nothing to do with eggs. Apology for side tracking. Just curious whether you are the same "Serendipity Hopeful"? The word serendipity is a very seldom used word. You would know "Good Guy" if you are the same person.

Eating one a day should not be a problem. We are aware that eggs have Vit A. Lately I had an eye check and result was excellent. Optometrist said you have been taking Vit A. Yes, I said..carrots and eggs. Well I still believe wearing UV protect sunglasses are important too. Also regular exercises will improve the strength of our eyes. Meditation helps as well.

The entire range of the 22 amino acids are in the yolk,
but the white contains histamine, which an allergic person
like me tries to avoid.
