Assuming old man age = a
Assuming niece age = b
a = 4b
a-5 = 5(b-5)
4b-5 = 5b - 25

of course i do agree shouting should not be condoned on the forum but i would think for this thread, it's in the spirit of merriment and fun rather than being rude. can't see how and why you would take offence at that.

I went for a birthday lunch today but my mood was entirely spoiled. I shall always remember my xxxth birthday as the day Mr Chang chose to give me that stinger.....*smile*...some birthday present.

Hiya ... come , come next puzzle please :D - don't blame Chang lah, he is supposed to administer the forum dispassionately and robotic in implementing the Rules .... and based on the Rules, it is classified as shouting, even though I understand it is within the context of game in Chatterbox, but Chang cannot be seen or act differently in different sub-forums .... you see? The one who solved the problem and the one who gave the BINGO thingy both have this adrenalin rush. The tall one carries shortie and puts him on shortie's own footprints further back. then shortie carries tall and walk over his own footprints. Since shortie walks on his heels, I supposed there is no difference in footprints whether he walks backwards or forwards. ( :D tembak only)

He slipped the shoes in his hands and crawled back. The second print of
shoes are made, hence looked like tall guy made shorter strides.

There is no tricks but logical design considerations when manhole covers were first designed:
1) Safety - don't fall back into hole accidentally on the workers, a circular object with a diameter larger that a hole's diameter, will not fall though in any angle.
2) Mobility - damn thing is heavy, so just roll it ... :D

No, I don't think they use it anymore but the math concepts are still applied, maybe in a different syllabus. I wonder if they teach sets theory in school ... or in the undergraduate years? I know it was mentioned when I was doing post-grad statistics before the turn of the century :D

Basically, the Mr and Mrs have 9 each so the total is 18. But 12 are children to both (mixed from current and past marriages). The overlap will be children from their union - hence 18-12=6

Of course, the poem did not say which direction the man with his 7 wives were going ...
It was assumed that if we met another party, they must be going in the opposite direction ;) but let's say we were on the same train, then we would all be going to the same direction isn't it? ... so this riddle had a big flaw - the flaw of assumption. A very basic problem in effective communications ... the lack of information and the reference to assumptions. :D

The reason I asked about comic art is...you should develop on your Superhero Water Guy story. Make it into a comic strip. Who knows? Hollywood might come knocking on your door to make a movie out of it. I thought it was creative. Fancy in Bolehland, we have Cicakman now Waterman.
