VP should not take the bet.
Naka would pick up the bowl,
drink the double scotch, and
pay VP RM1 for the drink.
VP actually paid more than RM1
for the drink so it'll be a loss.

Madame Alpha swerved as she skidded over the broken glass strewn over Jalan Kaca. Two of her tyres blew. When her car finally stopped, the door was yanked open and a masked man demanded for cash. After removing her cash and everything valuable, the man ran off into the jungle. Madame Alpha walked towards a petrol station up ahead in the distance. Upon arrival she found Bijani fast asleep in his chair. Waking him up, Madame Alpha said, "Please help me mister. I've just been robbed and I have a couple of flat tyres." Bijani yawned and replied; "Ma'am, I just sell petrol but my cousin Sirek owns a service station further up." He got up and shuffled to the phone returning moments later to say Sirek was on his way with the new tyre. They arrived at her car just as Sirek was installing the new tyre Bijani had requested. Madame Alpha paid Sirek with her credit card and drove to the police station to have someone arrested for robbery. Who? And why?

While mixing sand, gravel and cement for the foundation of his garden shed, Baldrick noticed a baby yellow bird hopping along the top of the foundation wall. The bird misjudged a hop and fell down one of the holes between the blocks. It was down too far for anyone to reach it. Pip suggested using two sticks to reach down into the hole and pull the bird out. Merry argued that this might injure the fragile little bird. What would be the easiest way to get the bird out of the hole without injuring it?

Use a fishing line with a worm on it and send it down together with a bucket using a pulley. Once the baby bird sees the worm it will come to eat it and then you can scoop the bird into the bucket and pull it out.

... except that ...
if the hole is big enough for the bucket, it is big enough for a man's hand or any other object to go in and retrieve the poor bird.
sending down the bucket may hurt the bird

Oh....narrow hole - so fill it with sand, it will reach birdie's level eventually. Put in some worms to entice it to come out from where it is stuck and then add sand slowly until it reaches ground level...birdie will come out easy

The answer is 5050:
first no. + last no., second no. + 2nd last no., and so on...
1+100 =101, 2+99=101.....50+51=101
So, we have 50 sets of 101 = 50 x 101 = 5050

1 liter = 4 cups
milk jug (M) = 1/4TM + 1M
tia maria (TM) = 3/4TM + (1/4TM+1M)/4
milk jug (M) = 1/4TM + 1M - (1/4TM+1M)/4
amount of tia maria in milk is 1/4TM- 1/16TM = 3/16TM

Two ways to solve this puzzle but it is often tackled using mathematical formulas.
The same?
After putting 250ml of TM into 1L milk, it is 20% TM and 80% milk.
Taking 250ml of the mixture - 50ml is TM, 200ml is milk -
add to 750ml of TM that is balanced in the jar = 800ml TM and 200ml milk

Since there is once again a full liter
of each liquid whatever amount of TM
removed will be replaced with the same
amount of milk. The key to this puzzle
is realizing that we are still left with
two - one liter containers of liquid.

Baldrick and Edmund were driving along a quiet country road from the town of Kentucky to the town of Nandos. It wasn't until they came to a multiple fork in the road that they faced a problem. The sign post had been knocked down and they were faced with choosing one of four different directions. Since they did not have a map and there was no one around to ask, how could Baldrick and Edmund find their way to Nandos?

Assuming the sign post is still there on the ground and the signages are intact, then simply determine where it points to Kentucky (where they are coming from) and work out the direction of Nandos.

The music stopped. Inspector Apamacam and his wife watched horrified as the blindfolded man fell to his death in the tent. The crowd quickly dispersed. The man was murdered. How?

It was in a circus. The blindfolded man was walking on the tightrope and when the music stopped, he thought he was at the end of the rope and jumped off to his death. The murderer was the person who stopped the music..

Baldrick and Edmund were trying to steal a few Kensington mangoes from Naka's mango grove but found them to be out of reach. Since Baldrick stands six feet and Edmund stands five feet, Baldrick invited Edmund to stand on his shoulders in order to reach the biggest 700g mango. Edmund climbed up on Baldrick's shoulders, but even then the mango was just beyond Edmund's grasp. Would it make any difference in reach if Baldrick was to stand on Edmund's shoulders?

It would make a difference because Baldrick can now use all of his height plus longer hand limbs to reach further. When he is standing on the ground, the height of his hand limbs cannot be used to the full.

Have been teaching the kids maths...ratio recently...so I got the idea from there.
1/3 x 6a = 3 ............ first equation
a = 3/2
1/2 x 20a = 1/2 x 20 x 3/2 = 15 ............. by substituting in second equation.

Fifteen. The answer is worded to make it confusing. Instead of considering how three can be a third of six, simply figure out what three is one third of, which is nine. By using the same sort of reasoning you know that half of twenty is ten and therefore ten is one third of thirty. Consequently, if three is one third of six, fifteen must be half of twenty.

I know the reasoning sounds complicated when put in words but it is actually faster to figure it out that way. We are left-brain thinkers, Jeyanthy. That is why we resort to algebra to solve this problem.
The true genius is in solving the puzzle without using any formula. I have met a couple of such characters and it is truly amazing to see their minds at work..

The International Centre for Genetic Engineering organized a world fair for geneticist to showcase their research. At the fair were cross-breeds of various animal species including farm animals. Featured in the exhibit were several over-sized prize chi-hua-huas. One rainy afternoon during the show, a thin man walked up to the exhibit, shot the chi-hua-huas and then ran out of the building. Although he was known to a number of people, nobody made any attempt to stop him. Why?

Daun Daud waited until Guni Ganesan left the office of novelist, Quarty Quince. Daud slipped on a pair of white gloves, took a pistol from his desk and crossed the hall to Quince's office. As Quince glanced up to see the intruder, Daud took aim and shot. Daud dropped the gun on the floor, picked up the telephone on Quince's desk and called the police. He then went back across the hall to his own office and hid the gloves. Inspector Apamacam arrived moments later and Daud recounted the event. "I was working at my desk when I heard a shot. I ran to the hall and saw a man fitting the description of Guni Ganesan running from Quince's office. I went to Quince's office and found him sprawled on the floor dead. I immediately picked up the phone on Quince's desk and called the police." Several hours later, Inspector Apamacam ordered Daun Daud arrested for murder. Why?
He was wearing gloves when dialing the phone, so no finger prints found.

Edmund Blackadder climbed the castle stairs to his private bathroom. The windowless room was constructed of concrete blocks and stone. As Edmund closed the large wooden door he heard the outside wooden latch fall shut, locking him in. Without considering the possibilities, Edmund turned on the taps to take a bath and ponder his escape. When the bathtub was full, Edmund went to turn the water off, but both taps were stripped and broken. Edmund was not only locked in, but he could not turn the water off. Since the room was water tight, and the water was beginning to cover the floor, how would Edmund keep from drowning?
