The irony of this betting licence is that for once umno and the malay politicians are saying that the chinese should have the right to gamble.

This include TDM . What if any of the opposition party, NGO or MCA said we should have a licence prior to vt's anouncement. It would have created uproar., like this unislamic, malays will be attracted, etc.

So chaps for the first time, the malay politician are fighting for the chinese.
When all agrees to a common pocket, it is not racial or evil anymore. That is the message that I read.

Raikonen, LoL.. i was just being sarcastic there.. and i do not agree with you on legalization of prostitution and when i meant drug i was looking at heroin, ganja and all.. LoL

seriously, legalising these trades will be more moral hazzard than good.. it kindda implies that the govt is ok with it.. bad for society if you ask me... let it remain illegal.. as long as it is illegal, it would be difficult to be widespread, right?.. and to give excuse that 'oh, it is already rampant. so, let's legalise it' is pure stupidity! the reason it is rampant is simply that not enough effort has been placed on it.. if you place enuf police looking over this, i believe it can be reduced drastically..

just my 2 cents..

Actually, I am having a LOT OF FUN reading about how the Govt politicians (BN ones) are all suddenly so supportive and praising something (sports betting & gambling) that is clearly BAD, ANTI-SOCIAL, FORBIDDEN by all religions and teachings and downright UNDEFENSIBLE ... :D :D :D

I love seeing how they wriggle, squirm and "rolling like pigs in mud" in trying to paint a POSITIVE side and pix of sports betting .... so far, all I have read is that THERE IS A LOT OF MONEY INVOLVED .... right now, it is ILLEGAL ... so, if we LEGALISED it, we can curb and reduce the ILLEGAL activities (oxymoron logic coz it is all down to the odds given - if you given 2 to 1 at legal outlet and 100 to 1 at the Uground network, for the same RM1-00 - guess where the bet will go? ) ... we can TAX them ... opppss ... Maximum space in print media is allotted to highlight illegal gambling and betting syndicates. They are not giving up. They will continue to spin and in the end someone is gonna get his licence.

The way I look at it, the rakyat is powerless and cannot do anything... please don't tell me about GE13... it ain't gonna happen when the number of voters registered in USJ/SJ is only 1/2 of the number of households.... ok...ok... many are registered in their hometowns but did they go home to vote? Will they go home come the next election because fuel will be RM2.40 per litre for RON95 and toll as much as a RM100 to go home to vote?

Now, you know why I say it ain't gonna happen?

However, I must admit that their spin that gambling is not forbidden for non-Muslim since it is not haram to them and so, as good UMNO politicans and Govt - we CANNOT deny them their rights to sin - brilliant spin BUT what a dman INSULT to non-Muslims who don't gamble or abhors gambling as a vice !!!! If you want to do it, just do it, don't use other people as an excuse to cover your GREED for MONEY .... esp IF IT IS MORALLY WRONG .... then again, I am a happy go-lucky punter - so more fun !! :D :D

Since when that they care for the chinese?

This is just to show that a few chinese is in control of money , white or black.
Come to think of it, let it be legalised. After all the chinese have strong culture dated back 5000 years ago and we shall prevail.

They champion the betting like it is the party’s family business, echoed umno’s ministers views that gambling is Chinese culture…blah, blah, blah.

Thx for the link.

As far as I know, most malaysians employed in this sector overseas are mostly phone operators who are able to communicate in multiple languages/chinese dialects. Only a handful of Malaysians are those experienced traders or analysts...half of 100 employees, maybe mainly those `reject' from the Singaporeon owned operations in the Philippines.

Haha The spokeman cited the example of Hong Kong Jockey Club in creating jobs. Ouui we have Turf clubs in Sg Besi, Ipoh & Penang too, How many jobs & positive impact have been provided for our society out of that?
