View Full Version : Saving costs and Earth at public SAFETY expense?

For the last few trips that I have made to a well-known (well, some say - infamous ;) ) foreign hypermarket in SS16, I noticed that only half or sometimes less than half of the lights in the public car park is on, resulting in a few sections of the car park in a state of total darkness and pitch black ....

After the last incident there suffered by one of our forum member - Robertec, who actually made news with it online at via SJAlert ... there was a marked improvement in terms of safety measures, lighting etc but since last month or so, this is starting to happen. Initially, I thought it was part of their renovation plan etc ... but after a month or so, does not seem to be so ...

So, are they waiting for someone to get mugged and raped in their car park .... ? or for us to start another round of "discussion" on them ... :p ?

Being a "lau-hero", it does not bother me per say :D , but I do see that some of the ladies shopping were quite jittery and easily spooked as they move around the half-darkened car park.

Just mentioning it here, in case, there are ladies here who also shop there to stay ALERT ....

It's a sad thing that maintenance & monitoring can be so poor that you have to make noise to make a difference.

You'd think a company with a name like that would "care for" the safety of their customers.

I will see what can be done to get these guys to wake up again.

But honestly, I don't shop there anymore.

I don't shop there since Robert's incident, but I did go recently as I was passing by and needed something quick. That place is also very very stinky, besides being dark. I was at the basement 1...you can see those unhygienic liquid flowing out from the rubbish chamber ..and the smell is everywhere at basement 1, the moment we got out of the car.

HELLO ROBERT,

IT WAS SOME WEEKS AGO I DID MENTION TO THE SECURITY AROUND THAT THE PLACE WAS IN TOTAL DARKNESS & HE REPLIED THAT THE "BOSS" HAS GIVEN THEM INSTRUCTIONS TO SWITCH OFF ALL THE LIGHTS & IT HAS A TIMER & WHAT TIME IT WILL COME ON & "BOSS" SAID TO SAVE ON THE ENERGY BILLS ,,

SO ITS YOUR GUESS THAT THIS CURRENT "BOSS" NEEDS TO BE BRIEFED ON THE PREVIOUS SITUATION & "SAFETY" ABOVE ALL COME FIRST & NOT ENERGY SAVING FOR THE COMPANY

ITS TIME FOR YOU TO HAVE A CHAT WITH "BOSS" ,, SO NOW SHOW HIM WHO'S "THE BOSS"

THANK YOU ,, I REST MY CASE
MAGG

I think that the residents should show him who the Bosses are by not shopping with them. - Robert

The problem is somefolks want free parking. These folks park their cars wholeday at carrefour to take trains. Similarly some folks want free security services at their residential area. Never pay one for the gated security services they enjoy....So I think the same thrifty people (malay saying : Tahi hidung masin")park their cars at Carrefour whole day to take train to work and do business in KL or Shah Alam. I support Careffour not to light the Multi storey parking.

Roslan, what has that got to do with not lighting up and providing security at the car park for their customers? - Robert

Hi ,

Simple solution to the problems All subang Jaya shopper needs to stop going to the outlet for a week and the operation manager will have to answer to the sales.

Cheers,

Tan

Friends,
This super market has now become a low cost hyper market where shopping is not a pleasant experience but an unpleasant experience and is a disgrace to the Global standards( Sorry I speak based on my experience of hypermarkets in most of Europe, USA, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan).
I support my statements with the following facts (humbled and apologoies if your experience is different from mine).
1) The aisles are overcroweded, criteria for overcrowding , 2 trolleys not ables to pass each other. Have to repeat the sentence "Excuse me, sorry". "Excuse Me Sorry" several times. Goods all over the place.
2) They are not managing their suppliers who are still off loading from the road between Parade and Carrefour.
3) Their bar codes have problem being read, many a time(20-30% approx) the cashiers have to key in the code.
4) 80% of the cashiers conveyer belt are not working. I even saw tape being used to hold the belt together.
5) 80 % of their trolleys are damaged or should have been rejected many years ago. If u have back problems or leg problems you will not be able to push a half full trolley without straining your legs or your back.
6) Their lift is the crapiest in town. Meant for the handicap but no signages and nobody cares as ****. Lift being used for loading and unloading. It is also the slowest lift in town.
7) They are using every inch of space and I blame MPSJ for this. How can u have eateries facing major roads. What is happening is patrons are parking on Jln Kemajuan, on the Taxi lots and anywhere where there is space available.
8) Carparks are a potential for crime. Did not see adequate lighting or security.
9) In the mornings on week days the que is very long as there are inadequate cashiers. Our senior citizen may have time on their hands but it does not mean they have to spend it queing to pay for goods. Check this out.
10) There is nothing that is handicap friendly. Zero. We need this as the population of Subang Jaya are baby boomers and are in their 50's,60's and 70's.

Appreciate of this email can be forwarded to Carrefour local mgmt and French team as well.

Warmest Regards
AS Gill

Dear Robert

I don't normally join in to say anything, but in this case I have made three complaints at the Customer Service Counter (once to the security personnel on duty) about the unlit lights at the car park. They promised to light up the place, but yesterday when I was there it is dark again.

Even told them I will write to the press to give them more publicity. Obviously it is more important for Carrefour to save money than care about their customers' safety and wellbeing. Am really disappointed.

Can anyone do something about this please? Thanks very much.

Waisee

Thanks Waisee, Just wanted you to know that we do have members of the Press who are on the SJ Alert mailing list, I am sure they will pick up on this. - Robert

Dear Robert

I can confirm that this is the case. I thought one of the Carrefour officers is signed into SJAlert. I hope (s)he is taking note of the comments and will respond appropriately.

What is disgusting is what they dont do it in France or other countries, they do it here.
I have highlighted it many times in the forum from Carefoul to Pestco. Complaint made , they respond for awhile and back to the same old tricks. Just went to Selayang Pestco, and they have a corner where the fishery products are sold at reduced price but still fit for human consumptions, meh? But dont be surprised that certain food caterers would snap them out and spice with up with heavy gravies.
Back to Carefoul, was given a yellow card when the fellow forumer had his car ransacked months ago.Doing my bit while I was there, I asked the security officer 3 days after the incident- where is your men do rounding? He said they even have men at the entrance. Unfortunately, for him - he was talking to the meanest Chef and patron where the Carefoul foreign manager would try to avoid and even say hello -or allez vous. I shop here either I am busy or nothing to do. And I was there 3 times and yet dont see any jaga hantu doing rounding and at the entrance. Either he is not doing his job, or his men or the Frenchie Manager. :p
Afterwhich, it was seen done until just for a couple of weeks. Then back to the same old again like what happened to Pesco.
Maybe the foreign market has to adapt to be very Malaysian - Tutup mata aje.
