Dear All,

I plan to buy a piano for my daughter.

Can someone please recommend me a reliable and trustworthy outlet?

I would recommend electronic piano and its acceptable for exams currently. I got mine from Yamaha. Its easy for the kids as they have self learning stroke lights for them to follow and the notes can be downloaded using thump drive to the piano. Its also service free as there is no requirement to perform fine tuning periodacially

We practice piano with the objective to play music thru piano, not for exam.

The ” high and low “ of music cannot be expressed by the electronic piano, only can be expressed by the different fingers’ strength when playing piano.

p/s. ms. Low, I have posted in another thread regarding a piano outlet which I found good in term of product knowledge and product varieties.

I have visited a number of shops in Subang and PJ area, they all have wide range of pianos, old and new ones. I don't think it is possible to walk into one particular piano shop and find all piano in the shop are good unless they are all new! It may be good for a 40 years old piano but not good compare to a 20 years old piano, or a ten year old piano! The safest bet would be a branded new one. They are many things to evaluate when buying a second hand piano, like the range of the sound, how solid is the sound, are the sound on the piano even, if the player is at higher grade, you may even need to check if the voice is too soft, too loud, for the kind of song he or she is playing. There is also physical aspect of it, like the parts, are they in good condition, the string - is it 'dead' already, etc.

you may check the age of a yamaha piano from the web through its serial number.
