I have a budget of btw RM3K to RM3.5K for a TV - preferably 42". To be used mainly to watch dvds and astro. Any recommendation or advice would be much appreciated.
If a similar thread had been recently started on this, my apologies. I would appreciate being given the link then. I tried a search but nothing except a debate on the merits of owning a LCD vs plasma and LED.
Thanks.

i recommend Sony LCD TV (model :KLV-40BX400).

It's full HD and c/w USB. Retail price is $2699 and you will get lower price at appliance chain shop like Best Denki.

The size is 40" and not 42".

I will recommend Toshiba Regza lcd tv 42" ZV600 model for RM3150, they come with 14 bits video processing compare to conventional 10 bits video processing as well as 200hz, best thing is it come with highly polished glass front.

Check out for great offers at Harvey Norman.
I recently took a great offer. How does 56% off RRP sound?
Unsure if the offer still valid now but do check it out and ASK THE sales person about it. Don't depend on the price or promo tags there.
Model: 42LD650 (top model for 42", 2010 model, next up are LED TV models)
200hz trumotion, (u don't get this often at this offer price)
2 USB ports, play mkv, avi, mp3's and can support external HDD for media playback.
IPS panel, Energy saving mode, Netcast network, online firmware update.
Best of all is LAN or wireless network play(proprietry optional dongle needed) for Youtube, Facebook, Picasa, Weather. (more features with online firmware upgrade).
Further info at LG Malaysia website.
Their website email support is VERY PROMPT! trust me, tried and tested on a number of ad-hoc support questions.
ONLY for people who appreciate Korean models...I know some shun these brands. Unfortunate but best bang for the buck!
I'm biased against Sony TV's simply because of price, nothing else.
