View Full Version : How to trace if an email address provided is fake?
I need to find a way to trace if a "new" email address given to me belongs to the same one person. Or can I at least trace if it comes from the same computer? Any one can help pls?

You can report to Bukit Aman and they will trace for your, provided it is an unlawful act.
If you have some friends in the ISP you are using, it will help.
Else, use another email address or new password, or both.

No threat lah. Just that I am suspicious that this guy is trying to pull a fast one on me and trying to be two diff persons by using two diff emails. What raised a red flag was the similarities in writing styles n spelling mistakes.

If this is free email like yahoo, ymail, gmail... I don't think you can trace it since one can simply register by putting false info.

You still can if using yahoo... once a person trying to phish Tmnet info from my wife about 9 years ago.... I complained to my friend in TMnet and fwd the source email to him.... He traced with Telekom's help to a form4 kid in pahang .... then the Bt Aman Comm Crime people paid them a visit. The kid was brilliant using java and pulled all the logo and stuff from TMnet website. However, his mistake using a yahoo account. :D
The email got info like where u sent from and time... via which ip address.... thats enough.

Yes... you can trace the cyber cafe but you cannot trace who is the sender.

you can use outlook express or microsoft outlook to look the header details, then it will show their origin ip where sent the email.
if both is same, then sure that people spam u or cheat already :P

I use either thunderbird or Safari mail. How do I check the header details then? Thanks
