When I watch both our former players's advertisement, I can't help but cherish the memories of those days where Malaysia was among the best in Asian Football.

However, I must say that times have changed. In those days the players were patrotic as some of the following are relevant :-

a) There was no race divide
b) Religion was never a problem
c) Even with the nep, there was no public outcry.
d) 1 Malaysia no need to be implemented as we are Malaysian.
e) All selection of players to represent the country was based on merits.

Malaysia's football like the economy, education (primary, secondary and tertiary), etc etc ... STAGNATED (stuck in the 1960s-70s) while the rest of the world has moved on ... that's why we are getting worse and worse .... :( - we only see progress in mega-projects and buildings - human capital wise - NIL !!

I reckon most senior forumers here will remember them well, amongst other players of their peer (I think some have passed on, RIP) and what patriotism they displayed for the country. Its likely unfortunate the current generation have little idea or know of them or who were they, neither did they become seriously wealthy or earned a fat packet. Just like dedicated government officers of post merdeka and up to the 70's who sacrificed their lives to build up this country. They should be well remembered for their services.

in the rush to re-engineer the society, the gomen has to make it a Bolehtis&Bolehtat. By the Bolehland standard, having a multitudes of seemingly 'high-achievers' (in bizz, sports, academic etc) will generate interest, motivate inspirations and artificially inflate their own self-esteem, to Can-do better. Nothing wrong with this.

Whats wrong is when
- Low achievers in almost ALL categories get elcheapoawardatoship and million$$ or APs or benefits/rewards
- Low graders get admitted to Univ to do professional courses
- Low Kelas leaders get appointed or worst reelected by yet kelas basement level4 rakyak...

And in the hurry to create a perception of 1st class rakyak, wth 1st class mental faculty and 1st class tis&tat, the gomen MUST provide an instant gratification, a reward of many sorts lah to further propagate the spirit of Bolehism and more importantly, amplify the advocacy of Boleh! Real or Unreal no matter lah.

Yup, society re-engineering at its best. Creating a present false sense of achievement to inspire future achievers. Boleh or not? :p

Yang Boleh juga latotupai :p

What went wrong ? Well among the changes was politicians getting involved in sports organisations. These led to Sports ToTo ,which is supposed to collect funds for sport become a full fledged public gaming organisation . This organisation become so big that it can be use to buy Mps for the ruling gomen.

Next, the same with Social Welfare Lottery , can they show an audit of their activities ?

Sadly it is the policy of TDM that accelerate the rot. Now we have bigger things , if we cannot compete ,we buy it just like LOtus, etc.

Sports Toto and Social Welfare are suppose to be what they were until it was changed to BJ Sportototo, and Pan Malaysians Poo. :(
Sport ToTo has turned Spot Tonto for Be End to churn out funds for those in the running and jumping sports in the political arena stadium :p

I reckon SuperMokh's finest goal was against a visiting Arsenal team at Stadium Merdeka. Score 2-0 to Malaysia. Peter Barnett had no chance..it was a classic run through and a fired home.
Ironically, there was a punch-up between Peter Storey and Santokh Singh at the same match.
(wikipedia writes that PS was a baddie in later life)
SuperMokh last appearance was a cameo in Osman Hafsham's movie "Mekanik".
SuperMokh was our version of Gerd Muller "Der Bomber" who killed off England in WC 1970.

Yes. Those were the days where there's no need for slogan or carrot tangling in front of them. It is only about making Malaysia proud.
Those days after we stopped everything that we do and just sit in front of our TV and watch our fellow countrymen played the mights of Korea, Thailand and Singapore.
At one of point of time, Malaysia was known to be able to play well when it rains. It seems that when every time it rains, Malaysia will win the game. We are a class above our competitors when the field is wet and sloggish. We laughed at the competitors' tripping and sliding aimlessly, and cheered our countrymen when they seems to run and hold the ball pretty well in the wet.
We once believed truly that they trained in padi fields..hahahaa..

Those were the days where there is no categorizing of one race from another. There's no bumi or non-bumi. Only Malaysia. 1Malaysia started long ago. Its our greedy and senile politicians that are breaking up the Malaysian for their self interest.
Politician Hatred comes from not being able to have what the other people have. And they are making the rakyat their pawns in this racism game.

I choose to agree with Cire, it is the politician that divide us. During Chin Aun's era everybody was fine, then came a TDM who spread racism and he is still doing it now to protect his ill gotten wealth. Wake up Malaysian and Change. We can do better without being reminded that you are malay, chinese, indians, ibans, kadazans etc.

SPORTS should be left to sportsmen and professional administrators to run - people who knows nuts about sports like politicians (none of their business) should just stay away - problem with Malaysia is this "patronage" culture that has spread to everything. If only Malaysia can be professional and every sports body get rid of their "patronage" otak udangs ... then we can see if they fail or succed on merit and efforts .... coz when they compete in international arena - your global opponents DON'T CARE IF YOU KNOW Tan Sri, Dato Seri, Dato, YB this or that ... they just BEAT THE CR*P OUT OF YOU !!!!! Simple thing like that also dunno - what lah !!!!!

Lin Dan recently "mincemeat" a MALAYSIAN DATUK you know .....  - so you think he is "wowed" by the "datukship" - and rollover and let LCW wins coz he ia Malayisan DATUK ??? :p :p

This is very clear of politicians cashing on our sportmen. During the Thomas Cup, when LCW lost and the second pair lost, all the ministers left . :D :D :D Then came the blame game.

well my first thoughts when I watched the commercials, they r looking good. God bless. There were no race divides, no datukship, no special or preferential treatments.
They bought the nations together... Now it,'s conditional with fat cheques, large entourage, special privileges etc.
Now...Very very sad scenario ..... We should bring our old champions in as consultants to impart their wisdom!
