BN says they are in the lead according to informal polls. With Najib handing out so much cash to FELDA settlers and orang asli plus government machinery working for them the scales are tipping their way. Isn't this money politics?
If they do it , it is not. If anyone else does it then it is. That my friends in the rule of law in our country now

.... that big chest (not Rosmah's ) was probably filled with the skimmings and percentages from deals and scams that MACC cannot see or don't want to see... kapish!!
.... everyday... I wake up and ask myself - is my savings, safe in Malaysia!?
Unfortunately the number of votes we are entitled to is not dependent on the amount of tax that we pay. We are in the minority yet we pay the most taxes and they are using our money to fund their extravagances and charity.

Whatever lah... as usual...Mr Kamal was virtually an unknown individual to just about most rakyat till the various media and TV mentioning his name numerous times within a day all over, TV n radio, with related publicity over 2 weeks especially on prime news.So many minutes just on this by-election.
The power of local media works again.
Wow!...the Malaysian easy way of having your name being the "hottest" most mentioned name nearly everyday! How the power of the media can play up the whole matter and amaze people's thinking for some period of time.

Kamalnathan is very wellknown to all the voters in Hulu Selangor. He would be referred first as Kamal to the Malay voters, Nathan to the Indians, and Than when he is casting fishing nets for the Chinese votes. The power of the name and dancing to the different tune  :p

Who is people voting into authority? Has this guy any experience or proven background in management? Does he have any ability to influence and lead?
He is doing a job, right? so must look at credentials ONLY.

Expected. But is this victory with pride and glory? Can they hold their heads high?
Take the FELDA settlers' problem, since 1984 - 26 long years yet could be solved in a 1-week period of by-election euphoria - somebody threw down RM17 million! Guess voters are more concerned of short-term gains than long-term concerns of progress and justice and a better climate for all.... but it was a close fight, so close even the DPM dared not turn up to the polling counting centre till the results were known, before that it was all touch and go.
Still, my 3-day stay was worth the 'fight'. Maybe its time to take a short rest before packing up for Sibu... enjoy the Foochow dishes there too!
Goodnite and goodbye for the time being Hulu Selangorians! (BTW the charbroiled char siew here (as recommended by fellow forumer Quietstorm) is really good!). So, is the apam balek tambah jagung sikit Pak Cik! also very nice.

I always say that the biggest service an MP or State Assemblyman can do for his/her constituency is to die in office  or resign. Then during the ensuing by-election, problems that could not be solved for centuries will suddenly be settled by the govt. ;)

Who [bleep!] cares.... it was WIN AT ALL COST..
Mebbe we can hope (pray?) more MPs and ADUNs would kick the bucket... (since they won't resign  ) and Malaysians would get their local problems and issues solved in a week too...

Just be cool lah, this is not so bad.
1. BN spent RM 60 million to win a traditionally 'safe BN seat'.
2. That's RM 2400 per gained voter.
3. As per BN's own statements, 6000 vote margin was the target; anything less than 3000 vote margin a failure.
(And this excludes the dirty tricks like last minute changes of poll stations in PR friendly areas, blocking of PR friendly areas, theft of ID cards; most notably those belonging to Orang Asli; and the usual busloads of phantoms).
Final tally 1725 vote margin.
So who won actually?

Would a local guy fair better than Zaid in the by-election???
As Hulu Selangor is still a rural area and those who left work in town wouldn't go back to vote as easily compare to a GE... (PKR can win only only from the voters who hav media like internet access... local media no hope...)
exp:- Factory workers that work on shift wouldn't hav a Sunday off to go back for voting...
Well some people choose to remain as beggars, prostitutes, maids and drivers and let these leaders tell that that they have to be grateful to them for allowing them to be beggars, prostitutes maids and drivers.

it is not an easy choice to make for these voters. Instant Money will solve many a problem and with that >RM60Mil amount being thrown about and more to come, it wa$ a fait accompli, when your 1pm turned $anta clau$...
Not many can be like the kelantanese...take the 'corrupted' money then voted the other way...and remain the most underdeveloped state with dirty tap water, poor and aging broken infrastructure, etcetcet but with a sense of pride to continue snubbing the bn leaders. How many can or will do that?
Heartlanders will always determine the gomen of the day. Urbanites see things differently lah. Que sera sera..until the next GE.

Its ALL THE GOODIES IN CASH, KINDS or PROJECTS that bought the voter confidence!...period! PR can never do this to this extent.
WE have OURSELVES TO BLAME with A HUGE MISTAKE in the past by constantly putting that regime in office to rule this country and by now they're rich enough with money and resources to buy voter confidence just about anytime. Can PR do the same...I never think so. Thats why we're DOOMED! I see the only way to put PR on the road to Putrajaya is with angry votes.
I think that the older generation of voters still feel that they owe them something. It was like as if nobody else will be able to provide them with a better life. That has been brainwashed into them. The use of threats and the lure of goodies once every 4/5 years has worked for them so far. The sad thing is these people are the ones who really need to feel the change so that their lives can be improved. For most of us chatting in forums like these, basically we are in a much better position than them rural folks but since its only one man one vote most of their lives will not change for the better. If they are still like that after 52 years and still think that this is the best that they can be then god help them.
there is no fair fight in msia.........

The Chinese votes did not swing to BN besides all the million dollars goodies. In fact fewer Chinese votes go to BN (28% vs 37% previously according to MalaysiaKini).
The Indian votes swing very marginally back to BN.
It is the Malay votes that contributed to BN victory.
It is no surprise. In the previous GE, BN won all the 3 ADUN seats but lost the parliamentary seat due to the unpopularity of the MIC candidate.
In a community where predominantly are conservative rural Malay, the alcohol-drinking issue is the one that sealed the result.
Actually I pity those folks. In the case of Kelantan they have been squeezing them for so long that it must be really painful for them. Terenggannu was able to resist them only for one term. I suppose the people of Kelantan are stronger and take less kindly to threats issued by the federal gov.

If I am the voter of HS, I vote for BN too (for this round)!
Why? This buy-election result simply make no different to the overall "who say" for the state and the country. BN or PR win, still Selangor belong to PR and parliment belong to BN. So, why not take the sweet and only make the different when the next GE come?

Hopefully this was the case...
For Chinese... I think they already can survive without support from the BN... so they resisted the BN goodies... (even the MCA don't support BN from the Chinese voter statistics...)
And then the "don't talk sh*t" x3 come out with this... when our PM just came out saying "Forgive us" to the Chinese???!!!

Do you realise that BN (i.e. UMNO) is whittling away at the PR's numbers with such wins and froggies so that before the next GE they have the numbers (2/3 majority) to make major law changes to ensure they can win GE13. Leave it to the BN to be very creative, they will think of something. It is a myopic view to just vote for BN between now and the next GE just because the number change at the moment does not make a difference. It will eventually -- if BN wins enough parliamentary seats by hook or by crook. By that time don't regret your action.

If you read my post carefully, I said this is what I hope and I posted to this thread after the results.
If you still don’t understand, let me tell you in two simple sentences.
I am not hoping the U. Selangor folks to take the goodies, vote the BN and then only do something later during the next GE.
I am saying hopefully (since BN has won anywhere) they take the goodies and send a message later in the next GE..
Regret my actions ?? What the H** to regret ????
I suppose one can just take their money and vote for someone else. there is no stopping someone from doing so right? Until and unless they rrealise that buying of votes in this manner wont work they will continue doing this in the hope that their conscience would not allow them to do so otherwise. Anyway whose money do you think it is ? It s your and mine. Maybe some are more principled than others but to each his own. Like I said earlier we are the ones who are and will be lesser affected than those folks and we are the ones who will be less likely to succumb to threats from the sh!t x3 fella. If they like they can stop all funding for all chinese related stuff. I think the community can still manage even without any arssistance from them.

I thought if you look at Foon Yew High School in JB, Kuen Cheng Girls School along Jalan Syed Putra, Chun Ling High School and Han Chiang High School here in Penang, they have produced the best in the world. An ex-student of Chun Ling invented the thumbdrive in Taiwan...
