Crime Scene: DAMANSARA UPTOWN
The mother of two adult children, who works with an international cosmestic company, was getting into her car when a man grabbed her from behind.

He pulled out a knife and forced into the car. The man then drove to a secluded spot in the basement car park.

There, he ripped off the victim's blouse and cut her bra with the knife.

He then tied one of her hands to the steering wheel and her other hand to the door, and reclined the car seat before raping the woman.

After robbing his victim of RM250 and her handphone, the rapist made his getaway on foot.

The victim managed to struggle free and sought the help of her colleagues who immediately alerted the building"s security personnel who then sealed off the building.

However, it was too late as the rapist had already made his getaway.

The traumatised victim, who lodged a police report at the Damansara police station, said the rapist reeked of alcohol.

Petaling Jaya police chief Datuk Sheikh Mustafa Sheikh Ahmad confirmed the case and advised women drivers to avoid parking their vehicle in secluded areas even within parking lots.

Dear Tenants/Occupants

RE: SECURITY AT THE CAR PARKS

Earlier this week, we had an incident in which a woman was robbed at knifepoint and molested at a basement car park.

This incident, the first of its kind in Uptown, is a cause for concern and the Management of the Uptown Buildings is taking several measures to beef up security to prevent a repeat of such an incident. For security reasons, these measures will not be elaborated.

Apart from these measures to ensure that the car parks in Uptown are secured, we also seek your cooperation, especially from those who work beyond 6.30 p.m. on a regular basis. Here are some ways in which you can help to make this area more secure for yourself and your colleagues:

· Report any suspicious characters you see to the security personnel stationed at your building;
· Whenever possible, go to the car park in a group;
· Avoid walking alone in deserted areas;
· If you are alone, there is already an existing security arrangement in which you can ask one of the security personnel to escort you to your car after 6.30 p.m.;
· On approaching the car park have your car key in hand;
· Visually, check the surrounding and the interior of your vehicle before you get in;
· Once inside, LOCK your vehicle immediately and leave the parking lot;

With your cooperation and the various measures that are in place, the Management is confident that the security of our car parks and our offices will not be compromised.

We view the safety of our tenants and the security of our buildings seriously, bearing in mind that the activities of undesirable elements have spread to car parks of several office and shopping complexes in the Klang Valley.

Thank you.

The Management

When serious crime happens, the party concerns always try to put it to a low profile. Konon they do not want to strike a havoc. But as a reaction, lady users of the carpark starts to request to move to the ground floor car park instead of basement, even if it means extra cost ... how sad and how bad.
