WHEN Wong Mee Yong received a letter recently from a Chinese daily asking her to collect her lost identity card in Johor Baru, she was shocked.
She had neither lost her IC nor did she visit Johor Baru recently.
Curious, the 30-year-old from Jinjang Utara, Kuala Lumpur, called Nanyang Siang Pau and asked for the IC to be posted back to the newspaper’s office in Petaling Jaya.
When she collected it, Wong found that all the particulars in the IC were hers, except for the photograph on it.
Wong, who works as a seamstress, said she had not been to Johor Baru for a long time, adding that the closest she got to the state was Pulau Tioman early this year.
She said she was surprised how her particulars and fingerprints could be reproduced on the fake IC.
She brought the issue up with Kepong MCA Public Services and Government Affairs Bureau.
