The following are a series of articles/features published at The NUT GRAPH website looking at Malaysian education and also exploring options like home schooling - most interesting, IMHO, worth a read :)

http://www.thenutgraph.com/going-private - about PRIVATE education

http://www.thenutgraph.com/chinese-medium-schools-to-the-rescue - about CHINESE medium schools

http://www.thenutgraph.com/the-home-schooling-option - about HOME SCHOOLING

One more to go ..... :)

SO far, what I can draw as a CONCLUSION is that the National School (SK) is KAPUT not due to curicullum (which the politicians always tinker with) but LACK OF DEDICATED GOOD QUALITY TEACHERS :( - sad for the country in the long run ....

Thank you, currymee for the links.
Very enlightening and at the same time saddening. Sigh !

I sympathise with kids of today, with senseless Moral Studies, Siviks, included as test subjects and a very very uninteresting Sejarah with microscopic details on Malaysian History but hardly anything on World History.

Home-schooling is catching up, esp in USJ. Still, a school environment offers a better place for young minds to mingle, I think. So, a good school with good teachers attracting good students is what we should look for. Needless to say ! :D

I am a former homeschooler under the AOP system, which follows the American curriculum and is a Christian based system.

After homeschooling to grade 11, took Ausmat in Sunway Uni, got 4A 1B, now doing ACCA at the same place.

If there's anyone who can tell you what homeschooling with a foreign syllabus is all about, just talk to me. :-)
