I did. The problem is these workshops do mostly the old BMW 320 models as their oldest work and none of them worked on the E9 model, which is circa 1970-1974. Mine is the 1974 model.

These are some nice pictures of the BMW 3.0 CSI which were mostly produced in 1971-1974:

This was supposed to be the original of the current M3 beemers. It has a manual 6-gear transmission, 3-litre 6-inline engine producing 200bhp and of course, a 2-door coupe.
Hope you can help find a good enthusiastic mechanic to help me restore the car.

Beautiful car, tried to get my mother to buy me the CSA many many years ago, of course no joy!
Do you want someone in Penang or would you consider USJ area?
Someone who knows the car and does the work himself, not someone who tells the kids what to do?

Hiliary, it would be a dream come true if the mechanic / workshop is located here in Penang. But I am currently talking to a workshop in Old Klang Road but he is working on 3 cars at the moment - a BMW 635CSI, a 728i and as usual there is always a BMW320 lurking somewhere so he might not have the time or attention. But if I have no choice, I will work with him as he helped me rebuilt a 633CSI before.
There is no problems with spare part as I have several sources in UK, Germany and Australia which I used before when I restored the 633CSI.

Am not very good at cars, but I think I came across one in ulu klang that works on these type of cars... if I ever been close there again will find out more...

I met a guy last year in USJ 1 (i think 1) who works on older RR, Bentley, Astons and Porsche, has a very clean well ordered workshop and was doing the work himself. I could go see him next week and ask.
for Penang i just wondered if there are any retired BMW mechanics from Europe who are getting bored.
A long shot, or maybe not as i met a guy at Golden Sands last year who is looking at M2H and is a Cosworth engineer.
I am in a similar position with my Lotus (it's in Manila but i hope one day it will be here!) where i have used Jaguar's shop and a guy who builds racing Porsche, but i still have the hope i will find someone who really knows Lotus cars and works with a passion

my frens in penang complained that it's difficult to find a good BMW mechanic in Penang.. Some moreit's more difficult to source for parts there...
FYI, the boss of Ultratune in Glenmarie (behind the porsche service center) drives one of these.. But then expect premium price from them...
Is the car driveable now??? What's wrong with it???

Its driveable and on the road. Its already reburbished. I just want to change some of the wires and valves and hoses which I believe has hardened over time. Yes, Steve Chong of Ultra Tune drive one of the same model in silver. Mine is lagi sikit cantik in metallic black and red leather, ahem!

Esprit S2 in yellowWow, why not check with Ron Lim at Lamborghini Malaysia (019-333 4318) on your Esprit coz I recall he has a Lambo Countach right in his workshop today and he has rebuilt several of these Countachs. I am sure he does Lotus Esprit too.
