It's my first year registering for this Balik Kampung Program. I was amazed when my neighbour called while I was still asleep on the 2nd day of CNY informing me that some policemen were seen outside my gate. Keep up the good work!

Subject: SJ Alert EMS A Big Thank you for the SJ Police "summons"

I came back from the annual balik kampong ritual this morning and was "SHOCK" to find so many "summons" from the SJ Police.

I thought maybe MPSJ was conducting arrest warrants on unpaid (not aware of) parking summons!!! After slowly reading thru the contents of the "summons" did i realise that it was a "Balik Kampung - Rumah Selamat" a joint security campaign initiated by SJ Alert with the various Residents' Associations, JKPs, Neighbourhood Watch Groups and the Subang Jaya District Police for residents of USJ/SJ/Putra Heights/Bandar Sunway.

A "BIG THANK YOU" to the SJ Police and all the Volunteers in carrying out this selfless duties for the balik kampung folks.

Regards,

Chris Low

Dear all,

Thank you to SJ Alert and Police for the initiative to improve the safety of SJ/USJ residents.

I take this oppurtunity to urge ALL residents of SJ/USJ to join Voluntary Patrol Unit to patrol by giving 2 hours of your time to ensure SJ/USJ a even safer place for ALL.

Police statistics have proven that continuous patrol and increasing presence of patrolling car is effective to deter crime.

Now everyone can patrol. It's only 2 hours.

To volunteer, contact Mak mcmak64@hotmail.com or sms 102 383 6508

It was indeed a value added services rendered by SJ Police. Well done. Just a note to add... as this has happened for the 2nd time. I registered for the entire week but had a last minute plan changed, I actually came back earlier and a policeman on motobike visited my house in the morning at about 11 plus. He talked to me for a while. I gave him ang pow and mandarin oranges and he went off. He never bother to check my identity to confirm if I am the owner of the house or at least check my IC to see if I am the owner who registered for this Balik Kampung service. What if I am a robber who has successfully entered the house and 'act' as the owner of the house?

You must remember that a burglar may not be so cool and calm when they see a policeman. However, times are changing and criminals are becoming smarter by the day, so we need to be one step ahead of them.

I will bring this matter up to the OCS of the various Balais.

Thanks for the feedback.

However professional these robbers/thieves are, there has got to be some telltales signs. :p. Lack of eye contact? Coming straight out of the house wearing a pair of shoes complete with socks (instead of slippers)? Dog on leash is barking away despite the "owner's" presence? Ok, I may have watched too many detective movies from Hollywood ! :p :D. Haha. A smart cop should be able to detect such signs and act accordingly. :)
