I don't see the need for this arrogant stance. You are being personal by making those statements. Proper etiquette should prevail. Wouldn't it be easier (and nicer) to just make an invitation to a drink? Furthermore, if it is a friendly invite, it could be done via PM. The post is obviously a dare with intention for a confrontation . That is in violation of our rules which forbid instigations for an arguement. Have a banana for the CNY

ROTFLMAO! :D How did a thread about the topic of submarines turn into this?

Back to the topic...defects do happen, and submarines are tempermental compared to navy frigates and coastal patrol boats. They have to have very specific checks carried out and be 110% before they can dive.

A few years ago the Canadian Navy also bought used submarines (from Britain in this case) that also could not dive initially...

An incident happend when one of the subs was being brought back to Canada on the surface. Tragically, a wave crashed over the sail which led to a water leak, which led to a short circuit, which led to a fire which killed 2 crew members.

The issue here is that the Navy and Ministry of Defence do not want to pay for fixing the defect, they claim it is under warranty and it is Boustead Heavy Industries responsibility to pay.

That is the risk I took to make a quick on-the-spot decision because I was actually in a corporate meeting. I stole some time to make a quick mod decision and it took me just a few minutes using my Ipod Touch on the office wireless system. I had no time to read into the 'threat' nor to spend more time to think it over. To be safe the first move is a banana.

Now I am out of the meeting I have a chance to check this again and the ban have been imposed.

pPps: back to the thread: submariners will tell u that they rather sail the waters than be *ping*ping*ping* underneath it. The fresh sea air, glorious sunrise and stunning sunset are a sight to behold. Also they can do some pancing and sunbathing. So a non-submissible sub is actually not a bad idea. Deploying 'em at Sipadan area will discourage them 'abu sayyaf fellas from doing harm to us. :p
