The Government Transformation Programme (GTP) that Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak introduced when he became Prime Minister in April last year has already yielded early results -- street crimes are down by 6.7% between the second and fourth quarters of 2009. Quoted from The Sun Newspaper 29Jan2010

I still hear of snatch thieves and Kidnapping cases. No one being caught so has it really reduced. Not really sure how they measured it.

Its NOT just snatch, kidnap, or sexual related that are crimes. What about those run amok case, kill/murder own family, wife relatives whack unfaithful husband, towing ATM machine outta bank, house break in just about everyday anywhere till GnG is now the preventive, criminal assasination with firearm...and many unthinkable or never happened rampantly before crimes..
I can only think the figures are NOT really true nor does it reflect actual situation.

KPI 1 - No of report increase/decrease
Increase - GOOD. Public have higher confidence in police in solving crime

KPI 2 - No of report increase/decrease
Reduce - GOOD. Less crime is being committed.

There was a report on the Crime Index for Selangor and in particular for Subang Jaya.

http://www.usj.com.my/bulletin/upload/showthread.php?t=28902

Take special note of the last sentence :

"In the meantime, Dato' Khalid has made a request to all residents who are victims of crime to make Polis Reports, this is to help Polis monitor crime trends and to take appropriate actions i.e. in the deployment of Polis resources. "

If everyone did that we would not be guessing right?

Yes we all do make reports...but who is there to check whether these reports are accurately consolidated or compiled without manipulation?

Read today that Jala says no to external auditors to verify the GTP report...But use auditor-general...

Quoted "We will be using our own people to do an audit of our work,

Wahaahhaaaaaaaaaaaa :p Semuanya OK dan 100 markah!!!!!

Actually, if you are able to walk into the Conference room of any Balai Polis, you will find a chart of the Crime Stats.

A clerical staff is tasked to update this Chart regularly, so that when the Balai have their morning breifings they can make reference to these charts.

I doubt that anyone would tell the clerical staff to doctor the chart.

But then again my experience is only limited to the Balais in Subang Jaya and I can only keep telling everyone that they are different.

well to be fair to pdrm, i do notice a considerable increase in the presence of police. Used to be that I don't see any patrol cars when I drive, but of late, I see about 2-3 of them and sometimes I even see a patrol car stopping another car, which was rare last time...

Tell that to Kugan's family.
