Since early 2009, the Penang Hospice Society has been in dire straits. Due to shortage of funds, it has not been able to take in more terminally-ill cancer patients and it has been facing lots of difficulties operating the centre. Do read this article published in April 2009 in THE STAR. (http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/4/29/nation/3795470&sec=nation)

In the spirit of this coming CNY, may I appeal that you consider making the Penang Hospice Society your choice to make your festive donations to?

If you wish to help, do send your crossed cheque to:

Penang Hospice Society
250A Jalan Air Itam
10460 Penang

Do write your name and address behind the cheque & and the society will send you an official receipt which also acts as a tax-exempt certificate which you can submit with your annual tax returns.

Thank you all in advance!

Thanks for your kind prayers but it best not to expect anything in return for any donation made - not even the receipts for tax exemption purpose. :) :)

why not list all medical disposables they use and I'll send them over so that they wont need to buy that anymore. I'll tell you which one I can afford to donate.

Thanks Jokee. The main medical disposables they require a lot of are adult diapers, cotton gauge and disposable syringes and anything that a normal place with terminal patients require that you can send is much appreciated.

Donors could also send items like oats, Milo, milk powder, detergents, toiletries as well but it might be not possible to issue a tax-exempt receipt but just acknowledgement receipts as value of donations would be difficult to ascertain.

Maybe it is more scary that you might give him cancer. :D  :D Anyway, perhaps Hospice in KL may also need help and assistance? BTW, does the hospice gets any allocation from the govt?
