I took my family lastnight to the famous crab outlet , opposite Pangkor fish head in Taman Megah. It was packed and we ordered 3 katis of crabs, one small portion of fried rice ( for two) , half a dozen of chicken wings , 10 sticks of satay and 3 bottles of Tiger Beer,. The bill came up to Rm248-00.

upon inquring, the waiter said the Beer cost Rm 15 per bottle ,after taxs it cost Rm 18 per bottle. the satay is ,70cents each. Wah lau, I asked why the beer cost so much . he replied that it is their price. That means it is more expensive than the normal coffeeshop. Remember it is not airconditioned and we ended up like after coming out of a gym.

I always think crab is always an expensive delicacy and there's no telling if any shop are going to cheat on the weighed amount. Sorry, but me and family have never consumed crab meat.

For less than RM200, a moderator took his friends and had a six course dinner with two lobsters and a chicken in six courses dinner last night from American VIP drink, soup, salads, breads, and desserts .
Well, he looked happy with the banarama desserts after he sat in the Chef room.:D :) :D

By the way, how would you know you had been served the correct amount in weight? I had a bitter experience in Bali at the Jimbaran sea food restaurant near the sea-side. The place is noted for fresh live sea food. I chose 2 live garoupas ( kerapu ) at 850gms and 800gms and paid for them. I asked for asam pedas style. I got a shock when I was served. The fish were much smaller than the ones I picked and paid for and the taste was definetely not fresh fish. I suspect I was served frozen fish instead, which costs about half the cost of live fish.

I complained to the owner and he insists that was the fish I ordered, and the fish shranked since it has been cooked. There was nothing I could do since money had been paid. I suspect our Kijang driver who drove us there has a part in this scam, since he hurriedly went into the restaurant immediately after parking the vehicle. He came out and told us he knew the owner and the owner agreed to give us an offer.

So, forummers watch out for such scams in our bolehland too!!

Jan, the original includes bread, towels , two soft drinks, service and sales tax. However, the crabs are tiny mini and nothing to brat about the taste.
So may I suggest, that the next time ,buy the crabs at Rm28 per kilo and cook yourselves and thats exactly what I will do.

If one katty (600gms) is RM40,then it's a rip off.Even Devil crab in Taipan sell at RM38-40 per kilo.

Between Pantai Seafood and the Taman Megah place I will go to Pantai Seafood anytime! At least the service is much better and don't have to eat fried rice with no veges

You could get it in Klang around RM14-18/kg. Normally I buy and cook at him...finger lickingly satisfied! :D
