Wow, the glass roof of a newly completed Bus and Taxi Terminal in kuala berang collapsed injuring 4 workers in Trengganu. This is hardly 6 months after the stadium roof collapsed. Imagine if the terminal is open to the public, the casualty would be terrible.

So next time you walk to any building , better to look before you go. Today's SMI is so competative that contractors have no conscience to earn a profit regardless of public's safety. I hope that they get to the bottom of it and penalised the consultants .

Not just today, but since the condo collapsed at UK - Ulu Kelang where nobody seemed to be prosecuted, people just take advantage and as greedy as well. If only we have law enforcement like in China where they shot dead the directors of the tainted milk scandal, the contractor, consultants, and the conmans would not dare to chant the Semi Value mantra of Act of God. :p

My God, what else is new in Malaysia? This kind of thing happen all the time here, all the main contractors, sub contractors just want to earn the biggest profit possible without having the heart to build quality work. Malaysia is really going down the drain, always dog eats dog, make all the money and not building the country they live in. Sick indeed. :(

Do you know about Damansara Intan building...next to Tropicana Mall. There is a notice stick on the wall saying BE CAREFUL OF FALLING TILES. It had been there for a few months. This is how a lousy building management sound like.

Does the word "Park at your own risk" entitle them to no liability? Next time, police should just put up signage saying "Walk at your own risk" or might as well "Be here in Msia at your own risk"

Wallah...this is getting jucier by the day. Another roof collapse. Better buy hard hat whenever walking in Terengganu Mall or newly minted building there. Better safe than never. ;)

Wah.......express bus/taxi terminal in interior of Terengganu costs RM4.2m! Perhaps it has VIP lounges with gold plating fittings and free 5 star accomodation for travellers who have to stay overnight waiting for buses, I wonder how many express bus companies really make use of the terminal. But then, this is Trengganu boasting of its OIL ROYALTY>

Let me see.. Act of God?, shoddy workmanship?, corners cut?, cheap skate materials?, poor design and implementation?, typical 3rd world (likely 4-5th) work construction throughout from drawing board to its opening?, the people involved?... this is Malaysia for you... things can crumble and crash down just about anytime..we don't really need earthquakes and volcanoes to do that. Or maybe the termites just had a party there!. Hey! its new 21st century boleh phenomenon for all Malaysians?... bah!

Latest from NTv 7 - Contractor will pay for collapsed roof . They haven't learn don't they ?. So the precedent goes, no body at fault , losses compensated by contractor and semua-nya o.k.

Consultants and owner happy. no barring from future tenders and it will goes on and on until disaster strike. Oh Malaysia what have you become after the British left.

Oh Malaysia what have you become after the British left.

ITS ALL BECAUSE MAJOR PROJECTS ARE LINKED WITH CRONYS, POLITICIANS, NEPOTISM, YOU NAME IT, MALAYSIA HAVE IT ALL! Education and certificates are mere formalities but after that anything goes, AND CAN GET AWAY WITH MOREOVER! Best engineers, best planners, but include 3rd world labor into the equation. You think those workers are bothered if anything falls tomorrow?, They'd still happily carryon working till contract over, they send money home, and they offer their blessings for you FOR FREE, if you ask for it.

Disaster after disaster that's rarely heard of, and this land reap the whirlwind! I suppose the Brits would have benefitted by good riddance, less headache and less tension. Malaysia wasn't a jewel in the crown anyhow. There was even some minister who told everyone recently, its a wierd culture (http://niamah.blogspot.com/2009/11/fantastic-facts-and-fancies.html) to speak English Language.. so?..

Hey Nick, maybe the profit margin is so good the contractor can even afford to pay it again if it ever collapses again one more time!

Open bidding is the way to go for projects in Bolehland... when Lim Guan Eng announced that a week after capturing the state of Penang, the Mamaks went on the street and staged a demonstration... what a spectacle!

Open bidding !! Here is what bolehland will save if open bidding.

a) Maltrade -original budget 130m. after 4years 280m- saving 150m
b) MRR2 repairs only - 5m after semi value -20m - saving 15m
c) SPN ampang - 45m after abandoned new contractor gets 25m when balance left is 12m - saving 13m
d) Inventjaya - after spending 500m. building left to rot after inventor chabut.
e) PKFZ - ???
f) Bakun Dam- ???

Interestingly, IJM , one of our biggest infrastructure company ,well known in India and Dubai have to settled for sub -contractor to a bumi company to do malaysian contract.

Which contractor are you talking about? The main (crony) contractor or the sub, sub-sub, sub-sub-sub or sub-sub-sub-sub contractor who actually did the work? The guy probably got 20-30% of what the govt paid for it.
