On a limited budget, lol!Depends on what "limited budget" means... we have 3, 4 and 5 star beach hotels plus we also have budget hotels. You can check out Tunes Hotel located right in Georgetown for budget and there are a few here in Batu Ferringhi and Tanjung Bungah. Check out Tanjung Bungah Hotel as its quite reasonable. December is peak season for Penang hotels and even 4-star hotels like Golden Sands and Holiday Inn are charging at least RM400++ per night...

PM me if you need recommendations and I can give you more tips.

Sounds great but too tired to drive leh.Chia, there are 4 returning flights each day by Firefly plying between Subang Airport to Penang. From Penang Airport, jump on the many luxury MPVs provided by the beach hotels you're booked in - door-to-door service free brader (if you're booked into their hotels)! There is a hourly shuttle that visits every beach hotel and takes the people downtown or to the foot of Penang Hill, Kek Lok Si temple, Snake Temple, the Sleeping Buddha and of course Gurney Drive.

There is no need to drive. Just hop onto to Firefly. Visit http://www.fireflyz.com.my for flight details and bookings...

You can have the mermaids guide you to the beach front at Bayview Resort. If you run out of oxygen in the tank due to the long dive (and swim) they can also give you a kiss-of-live underwater... this Jazz in The Island is one big event, don't miss it!

This is the biggest Jazz Festival we can handle this year. Next year's program will even be bigger and we plan to bring in Wynton Marsalis and his friends and maybe Michael Veerapan - our own Jazz hero and his band incl Lewis Pragasam on the drum and the Sudiros from Indonesia / Malaysia... that will cost a bomb but hey, the sponsor is Mercedes Benz lah... and if this year's festival goes well, then next year it will be known as the Penang Island International Jazz Festival and runs for a week long... get your single-malt and coronas ready!

We have to promote Penang. Big Daddy in Putrajaya plus their mainstream media isn't extending any help nor resources to us so we have to fend for ourself. Even charitable organisations are feeling the heat of reduced funding as well. We have to work doubly hard.

Yes, that's why the state govt needs to work closely with the private sectors for sponsorships and projects to revive Penang. Penang has its uniqueness which is different from Malacca.

Bro, big credit to you for promoting Penang to bring in more revenue to Penangites..

I was there last month, stayed pretty close to your house – a rebranded hotel, formerly called Casuarina, now labeled with a lot of hard stone

I liked the service but a bit pricey – food & beverage, room and the café downstairs.

The life band inside the Café is good…plus the young poeple

Xmas and year end is near the corner….will run away from SJ to breath different air..

Come Sagamihara-san, do come and pls help spread the news on the Jazz Festival. I will forward the program for 1st Quarter next year which includes the Dragon Boat Race (early indication is Hong Kong is sending 4 teams incl one made up of just expat women and Australia will return to defend their title) which will be held most likely at the Telok Bahang Reservoir / Dam site again coz Gurney Drive is undergoing reclamation and massive cleaning up.

For info of the durian lovers, the season is just starting out. As you know, Penang (Balek Pulau) is known as the best place for exotic durian varieties(about 14 exotic varieties incl Ang Hay, Musang King, Hor Lor, Lin Fong Chia (aka Mrs Jackie Chan) etc) and if anyone interested in getting a write-up with pictures and description of each of these varieties, pls just PM me with your email address....even if you don't get to eat them, at least you get to know each varierty, their taste profile and salivate like hell just looking at the pictures....

I go to Penang few times a year, and normally is short trip about 1-2 nights per trip.

I like Penang food regardless of hawker food or restaurant food.

I am crazy of the “end of the world” restaurant, not so much of the sea foods there but for the meaning of the restaurant name in mandarin…

Talking about jazz, during my 2 trips this year which I stayed at g hotel….there was a lady jazz singer…OMG, must be my jazz appreciation level is still not up to par yet….she really bring the jazz music to a different level.

There was a demonstration in front of the Penang State Assembly yesterday by members of the UMNO youth as well as Gerakan and MIC members. The protesters voiced their frustration against an “inefficient and indecisive” PR government which they said had failed to resolve the people’s problems and fulfill pre-election promises. They burnt LGE's picture.

Guess this won't damper the Jazz festival as Guan Eng had said that the Pakatan government was not against people exercising their right to express their disapproval against his administration. :p The Penang police had exercised so much restraint and tolerance for the demosntration that no one was tear-gased or had been doused by water canons. So, on with with festival. No problems.

There is no problem with the Penang Island Jazz Festival... life goes on and we continue to work and struggle to help this island state survive...

The demonstration? Its a bunch of sore losers who claimed they represent all Penangites (what?)... UMNO Youth and Gerakan Youth members. They said before that street demonstration are not their way of life... ha ha ha! And where are the men in blue? Not to be seen within a mile...

One thing strange... Gerakan Youth is in the same team of people who once tored down the portrait of their President Koh Tsu Koon and stepped on it in front of national television audience... how low can you go Gerakan?

I am not having any Nasi Kandar in any of these Mamak shops for a long time....

They are angry at the CM for the Jazz music because they wanna some flip flop music. Gerakan youth demonstrated by step by step stomping, too? Must be a new flip flop dance they are trying hard to promote = Umno Gerak Tango.

Introduce a new Jazz tempo called the flip flop? Should catch on quickly.

That was why Najib was in the Washington last week. :D
While Mooheendin was singing Tatanegara, Najib was launching Flip Flop.

The demonstration was in front of the State Assembly which was in session... most of the demonstration members were mamaks supposedly belonging to UMNO Youth and of course Gerakan Youth as well...

This same group of UMNO Youth members did the same thing to the photo of the ex-CM Koh Tsu Koon during the height of the "Ahmad Ismail Pendatang Case". And now Gerakan Youth joined them and did this to YB Lim Guan Eng. How low can you go man, Gerakan Youth? Maybe Gerakan Youth believe in "an enemy of my enemy is my friend" and willing to sleep with the devil. And in the speech, they even got the cheek to say, "We speak on behalf of ALL Penangites..." Sorrylah Gerakan Youth, you do not speak on our behalf, we do not sleep with the devils...
