Over 3 days, there have been 3 break-ins cases in USJ that I have learnt happened to people that I know! One that happened to my own house. Another to a friend. The last one is to my neighbour.
My friend in USJ3/4 found that his house was broken in when he arrives home on Sun near midnite, after being away on vacation for 2 weeks. The thief came in from the back window. The grill was removed and also stolen. Took away 2 laptops, watch, jewellery and cash. He couldn't start his car that has not been driven for 2 weeks. When he called the police to come over his house to lodge a report, the police refused and suggested that he come over the next day.
The thief seems to know that the house owner is not in. I believe this is the modus operandi used now. Because the same incident happened to my house where the thief breaks in when we were away back in hometown and my neighbour was out for lunch, at the same time it was during heavy downpour. No one will hear the noise made by the thief especially when they break the lock of the door.
A neighbour in USJ2/2L house was break in yesterday (Monday, 2 Nov 2009) about 1pm when he went out to send his child to school. He returned home and saw a white Honda parked outside his house with a man in it. He even came face-to-face with the thief (a Chinese man) who was carrying a 'parang' and stolen goods on his way out from his gate. This neighbour was wise. He didn't confront them. He acted as though he was a passer-by and calmly passed by.
So, dear residents of SJ & USJ, please be on alert and always assume that your house may be broken in by thieves ~ as such you will take more preventive measures. Hide your valuables (documents, jewellery, watches, cash) properly so that when the thief came, they won't have much to steal. I have a good lesson learnt from the recent break-in into my house 2 days ago. I assume that a thief will not be interested in my house. And I have taken sufficient prevention. But I was wrong! :( Therefore, I am sharing this so that you can learn from my mistake.
