Hi,
I wish to get some inputs and help. I have a toddler whom is exactly three years old but he do not speak much words. Is there any one to one kindergarten whom can give him single one to one attention. We have been to speech therapist but the best suggested idea is to have kindergarten whom can give one to one attention. The current kindergarten is also suggested by a speech therapist.
Anyone got any DVD such as teach me to talk from US that is specialised for helping my toddler?
Thanks everyone..

Tryagain,
What I am about to write here is not to scare you but to approach this matter systematically:
1) First make sure, it is not a medical problem - bring him to see a pediatrician for checkup - rule out any possible speech organ disformations etc etc and also to rule out autism ... go see a good child specialist.
2) If it is as a result of lack of children interaction, then get him to join a nursery with plenty of kids for him to interact and talk with - children responds better to other children talking , chatting, playing etc than special one-on-one kindergarden, you don't want to scare your boy into thinking something is wrong with him - may be he is just a slow developer in the chatterbox aspect - ref: I have a nephew with same problem around same age - now ok, in nursery , took a while to adjust but more of case, only child, so not enough peer playing, chatting ....
BUT most important is to RULE OUT ANY MEDICAL PROBLEM and AUTISM
Hope this helps - don't worry :)

Spend more time with your kid and tell him/her a few story a day. Talk to him/her all the time.
Try funstation in court 10.
My neighbour had same problem. Husband quiet guy and work till late. Wife talkative but spend most time on mlm or on phone. Work day time and she would go out when husband return and only return at midnite. Now she have to quit job and takecare of the kid full time plus therapy.... kid also had a bad temper.... :(

Is there something to worry about? As a parent, I understand your concerns.
However, did you know that Albert Einstein (http://physics.about.com/od/alberteinstein/p/einsteinpro.htm) did not start talking until he was 4 years old ! I am sure his parents thought that he had some medical problem ... but of course, they would not have forseen that Albert would grow up to be known as one of the most brilliant man in the world.
Was he born a genius? Or was it because of his exposure to knowledge (http://www.lucidcafe.com/library/96mar/einstein.html) ?

I agree with currymee. Rule out No.1 first. Then the simple fact is your child needs interaction with other kids. I presume your child grew up at home with no other kids around? My son is taken care by a babysitter who has 3-4 other kids in her house. His speech (and my niece) picked up very well. My babysitter also has a grand-daughter who does not talk but understands speech. She also grew up alone at home. Now she goes there daily and is starting to speak more words. So once No 1 is ruled out, bring your kid out to play and interact more with other kids.

Agree with currymee. I experienced all these. My eldest son did not speak much when he was 3 years old++. I brought him to a child neurologist to confirm there was due to any medical problem. After checking which confirm everything alright, I went to a realiable speech therapist. The result just that he is only slow to pick up speaking. Now, he is 5 years old. He is fine and sometimes I need to ask him quiet because non-stop talking.
