With the new Euro 2 grade diesel available here and the slowly increasing choice of diesel engined choices, would you buy a diesel car as opposed to the petrol car version?..

yes

In the past, it was prudent to go diesel if you travel a lot since you get savings due to the cheaper fuel. However, I believe diesel price does not have that large difference from petrol now ... so how to justify using diesel? Furthermore, the road-tax is higher, am I right?

Add to it the common rattle of a diesel engine, I would still go for the quieter petrol car.

Some people say diesel engines do not pollute as much as petrol ... is that true? So I guess the diesel users ought to educate the rest WHY you think it is better ... asking to choose A or B isn't enough

PETROL 4 me... simply because the tax is much higher & not much fuel price difference to choose DIESEL! :(

for diesels, its the engines which make the difference..they are more efficient, much more kilometers than petrol..the engines generally have longer service lives and are more powerful..

the govt should do more to promote diesels from reduction in tax and increase fuel subsidies

There used to be an incentive for diesel until some sleepy-head PM woke up from a slumber and increased the price to be same as petrol.

In Europe diesel is slightly more expensive than petrol yet more than 50% of passenger cars sold there are diesel-powered.

The disadvantage of diesel cars in Malaysia:
Higher price
Higher road tax
Poor resale value
Very limited choice of affordable saloon cars.

In Msia I only see Petrol as the viable choice....elsewhere...I would have chosen Diesel.

Diesel is much better. But the problem is diesel quality in Malaysia.

NGV anyone? Due to the limited (1 & only) station in USJ & Subang Jaya. Too bad.

I was looking at a Rav4-D4(diesel) and quite interested too.

Diesels are getting more popular in BL (boleh land)...unfortunately the government does not feel that the introduction of euro 4 compliant diesel is important right away...

There are several excellent cars in the market but an outstanding candidate for mention is the bmw 320d...good car, strong performance n very efficient but let down by BL's fuel quality..test drove it..it gives almost the same performance as my much larger engined petrol version from the same manufacturer..

At least DIesel is available anywhere unlike NGV.

Are there any NGV station in sj?

Dont mind diesel or petrol if road tax and car price is the same.
