There was rather a good turn out at the USJ2 Residents Meet today. Despite the light drizzle, residents turned out to give their support.

A meeting for volunteers have been set up at 2pm tomorrow, Sunday, 11 Oct at the Hall near to the mosque.

Thanks to the organizer, Alan Chuah and Patricia, who conducted the meeting this morning!

Hi Superz, We have tried our best to distribute flyers for entire USJ2, unfortunately we have left out some roads due to limited people in the beginning. We have tried our best to pass the words around within the last 6 7 days before the 1st meeting. You are most welcome to our next meeting on Wednesday 14-Oct at 8PM near RT cabin in USJ 2 park. :)

It will be the entire USJ2 to be guarded and gated in order to improve the security in our area. I think it is due to shortage of resources that the flyer didn't reach you. May I suggest that you also sign up for SJ Alert SMS & EMS (E-mail Message Service) where residents are being alerted of such community activities? It's really beneficial to me, in my humble opinion. You can register here: http://www.sjalert.com.my/. Those who attended yesterday and today's meeting were also encouraged to sign up. It's the electronic way of communicating ~ fast & free.

Dear Residents,
The USJ 2 protem committee will be making house to house calls soon to ensure that the residents are aware of the benefits and values of GnG. We need minimum 70% of residents to support this project so that it can be approved by MPSJ. There are about 2700 houses in USJ, so we need at least 1900 house owners to support.
This is a very big effort that the committee will need to archived. USJ 2 is
the largest community in terms of houses and size. This is a very big challenge for committee members. We believe that we can do it with voluntary hardwork,
determination to succeed and of course all residents corporation & support!

Dear Residents,
The first committee meeting for the G & G Project was held on the night of 14 th Oct and it was indeed frightening to note from the briefing that according to the polis statistics that the USJ 2 area had about the highest crime rate in the whole of Subang Jaya. This is not surprising as the bad guys are now turning their attention to those unguarded and ungated areas like ours for their activities. We will hang up banners at strategic locations,
distribute GnG questionnaires and the Road Representatives will go from hoouse to house to brief and get the necessary support from all residents in USJ 2 to support this project. This is one of the biggest GnG project and it will not be easy to cover about 2600 houses but we are determined to do our best to ensure the project will be successful. We will need at least 70% support to get it off the ground.
Over the next few weeks, you will find Road Representatives knocking at your door to seek your support. Costs are not known at this moment but obviously numbers will surely connt to keep the costs to minimum since this will be managed by nominated committee by residents.
We urge all of you to sign up to keep the crime rate in our area to a minimal
level so that we and our families can live safely and peacefully.
For a start it would be important to sign up in the forwarded message or if
not send your details to USJ2GnG@gmail.com or Christie88@gmail.com. The details required will be your name, address and contact no. Todate we have about 250 names signed up and this was before canvassing even started.
Please spread the news to your friends and neighbors in USJ 2. :) :) :)

Dear Residents,
Just to update everyone that the protem committee members are still working hard on the GnG project. There are many action items to be taken before the GnG project can start. The action items are:

Setup security & GnG awareness banners asap

Start house-to-house feedbacks on GnG project

Register GnG with ROS

These are some of the activities listed. We need more volunteers from USJ 2 to come forward to be part of the committee. USJ 2 is the largest prescinct and I am sure we have the most capable people live here. Please contact us via usj2gng@gmail.com, christie88@gmail.com or alanchuah@gmail.com :)

Of course we do. I believe you will receive the official invitation from the Pro-tem Committee Team.

This is just an early notification to our USJ2 Forummers so they can block that morning in their calendar for this event. It's not easy to reach out to all residents in this big area. Thus early unofficial notification is crucial. We hope many can make it to support the launch.

Thanks for dropping by here, Rajiv.

USJ 2 just started the GnG this month and already a few new break in cases happening  (Was told by my neighbour) The latest one happened on Wednesday abt 10-11am at USJ2/4?(the row behind those in front of the SK).The opposite neighbour saw 2 chinese man, one went in the hse & another stay in the Honda car parked a few door away and quickly called the police. Police came, open 5 gun shots towards the one in the car but he managed to escape  The police managed to catch the one who went in the house. Some of my neighbours did hear the gun shots sound.
Please don't be complacent with the GnG & think that it's sure safe here. You & your immediate neighbours are still the most important person to safeguard your own house. Better still, don't keep valuable things at home.

I have moved the arguements to the Moderation forum. Please refrain from further fights or else the next step will be getting banned from the Forum.

One point is to agree that there will be another person with an opposite view. The other point to note is to avoid the urge to put in the last word. That is how arguements continue.

Please do not keep nagging and harping on the same story ... I am getting impatient with these nagging commentaries and counter commentaries.

Err buddies...Orchi has certainly missed out on a lot of things going on...
in USJ these days...especially so in USJ2...

Between much of traveling n heavier work duties...
Orchi finds the several occupied pondok pengawal - guard posts...
n painted oil drums n what haves...here n there...
around USJ2...since like early this year...
or was it like from late last year...?

Of late in the past couple of weeks...
Orchi was informed by close neighbours...
that few robbery n break-ins cases...
occurred to fellow neighbours...close to Orchi's home...
which prompted a call to erect iron fencing...
to deter further attempts of break-ins from the back alley...

Even earlier this evening...
A close neighbour notified of another break-in...
which happened today...
in the rainy afternoon around 15:00 - 16:00hr or so...

Orchi was told that 2 robbers...
pulled up on a bike at a close neighbour's home...
along the same row of residential houses...with Orchi's...
just moments after the neighbour left the house unoccupied...

They broke into the unoccupied house...
n carted away with some valuables...

It so happened the next door neighbour witnessed
the incident...called the police....
n taken down the registration nos. of the bike...
just as the robbers were fleeing...

Apparently...this incident happened...
at a house located within about 100m or so...
in either way...
from NOT one...
BUT TWO of the occupied MAIN Pondok Pengawal - Guard Posts...
deployed closest to USJ2/4M...

Orchi has moved into USJ2 since 2002 or so...
These regular spats of robbery cases n break-in attempts...
has since only recently been happening...
closer to Orchi's home...at DAY time...

Perhaps it's about time...
Orchi goes on patrolling the close neighbourhood again...
whenever possible...

orchipalar
28-04-2010, 11:26 PM
Err buddies...hmmmm...it has been so quite in here Orchi can almost hear...
a pin drops...

Just recently...Orchi noticed that there has been regular rounds of patrolling...
carried out by some guys riding on bikes accompanied by the pillion riders...
around the vicinity closer to Orchi's home...

These guys must have been employed as "security guards" by the relevant appointed security firm...
to carry out "patrolling n surveillance" exercises...
in the concerned USJ2 neighbourhood...

The bikes they were riding on have been fitted with so called "revolving"...
or "rotating" beacon...

The guys were seen to be wearing the additional reflective vests...
equipped with walkie-talkie sets...hanging on the back pockets...
whilst carrying out their rounds of patrolling in the USJ2 vicinity...

They were also seen riding their bikes WITHOUT putting on the so called...
"safety" crash helmets...which ought to be strictly enforced...
under one of the Road Traffic Ordinance/Act...or something like that...

Keeping in mind for the personal safety issue of the guards involved...
the failure to adhere to the relevant regulation is a traffic offense...
punishable by Law...

On top of that...the guys were seen riding with...without proper footwear...
Several of them were wearing slippers...

What are the Standard Operating Procedures being exercised by these...
so called Gated or Guarded community "security guards"...
employed by the appointed n licensed "security" services firms...?

Has there been a tighter scrutiny to check...
n screen the backgrounds n credentials of the so called "security guards"...
or the appointed employer "security firm"...?

Having asked the above...
Orchi is often told...
that for someone to do any good or to serve for others...
one needs to begin doing right with himself...first.

Otherwise...Orchi fears that it might just be...
a drip from the fireman's extinguisher hose...
so to speak...

Just last night...little Orchis were asking their Mama...
how "bad people" would look like...should they come across any.

Mama got a shock when our family maid said...
she is more afraid to look at the so called "security guards" on bikes...
who would pass by lately...

Should they not at least have proper uniform...name tags...n attire?

Err buddies...hopes this is not sounding like Orchi is starting...
to write a Dairy or something like that...in here.

Past couple of days...
Orchi has seen the guards being stationed at the Pondok Pengawal...
on USJ2/1 East Side...n those patrolling on bicycles were quite well attired...
with proper Uniform/cap/shoes etc...

BUT those riding on bikes are still seen without wearing the crash helmets...
n uniform...

Are these "security guards" on bikes employed by a separate security guard firm...or not...?

Imagine in an event of accident...
like one of them falls of the bike...
n hit against a lamp post...or a road curb...or some tree...
the guard would risk getting serious head injury...

Higher risks = Higher Insurance tariffs...= Higher running cost = Higher security service fee...

Oh have the guards been properly insured...?

The USJ2 GnG Group distributed flyers a couple of weeks ago, stating that since the setting up of guardhouses and the patrolling of the area by their guards, the crime rate had dropped.

Sorry (not really) to rain on your parade, GnG People, but I dont think it was because of the patrolling of your guards that kept these criminals out of our neighbourhood. Really, so sorry.

According to a NST Report found here, http://www.nst.com.my/Current_News/NST/articles/20100506150415/Article/index_html, it would seem that the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT is taking all the credit for the drop in crime IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY! You guys didnt do anything. Was it a waste of money?

Haha! You two JOKERS fight it out as to who actually did the work.

Joe Blow

I would suggest that the GNG or any other party interested in a more meaningful analysis of crime rates to plot year-on-year graphs instead of simply showing the last few months crime rates. It is meaningless otherwise.

Err buddies...early this morning when just about to get into the cardi to drive it off to work...
Orchi discovered a 6 footer DEEEP scratch across the RH side of the cardi...

That DEEEP scratch was NOT there when Orchi left the cardi parked outside of home since last night...

It was NOT even blocking any traffic or anyone's way...

It NEVER happened to Orchi's entire life that anyone would do such a thing...
to ALL of Orchi's or Wifey's previous cardi(s)...in decades...

NOT even in decades when the cardi(s) were parked elsewhere...NEVER.

To those that know Orchi personally...
Orchi has only gotten the BRAND Spanking NEW cardi in just days before...

You buddies can imagine...the shock n disappointment...

Oh btw...Wifey did mention that in past couple of months...
whilst Orchi was away abroad...
little Orchis' fairly NEW shoes were stolen from home...

This NEVER happened before either...NEVER.

Err buddies...more often than not in the past...
Orchi n the neighbours would spot Policemen patrolling in Police cars or bikes...
in the vicinity of USJ2...

Nowadays they don't patrol the neighbourhood streets anymore...

or rather...
these days they would "drop by" often...
only after more regular reports of crime are filed...
happening in Orchi's neighbourhood closeby...

True....very true of your observation ....

Err buddies...earlier this evening...
a group of residents(Pro GnG) dropped by...
to garner more support from fellow neighbours...

The effort of this group of residents is very much welcomed...
especially so when they are willing to listen n take certain suggestions...
up for consideration...

Here are what Orchi gathers from one of the group members...
n some small suggestions from Orchi to the GnG community...

1. The present Security firm was appointed on tender basis.(after the initial one was not doing a good job)

2. The Security firm has not been checked on their backgrounds...
other than the claim that this appointed "Security firm is licensed..."

3. NO personal identity details or records(NO photo IC) of the Guards...
were given to the resident GnG community group...for reference.

4. NO records of the employed guards were referred to the Police...
to check whether any of the guards might have any criminal records...
or something like that...

Security guards having Unpaid traffic offense is not included as criminal records...

Any guards found to have any criminal record...previous conviction...
or being prior suspect to theft/any malice(like cheating)...
or robbery(pending due legal process)...
should NOT be allowed to work as "security" guards...

5. "Security" guards on patrol on motorbikes are required to wear the crash helmet...as required by the law...

This has not been enforced yet.

6. Security guards on duty should be armed with the basic baton(or Rotan)...
as a tool of self defense purpose...

Guards assigned with proper Whistle...Flash light...
Pepper spray would be an added advantage...

At present the Walkie-Talkie is fine.
Cell phone is a must...

7. Security guards on duty must be in proper attire(like with uniform n safety shoes)...
Reflective vest must be worn at all times...
Guards have TO BE SEEN...
for traffic safety concern...or possibly act as a deterrent of criminal intent.

8. The Security Firm n guards must be insured properly n adequately...
with at the least...
Public Liability insurance(PL)
or Comprehensive General Liability insurance(CGL) - CBT included.
Personal accident insurance.

9. Putting up CCTV is likely going to be NOT cost effective...
or another joke...
n definitely a waste of contributor's fund...

Having to pay for more security guards to do more frequent...
n closely knitted patrols(say 2 pax on each HOURLY or half hourly rounds)...
is a MUCH better alternative...worth considering.

10. 90% thieves or robbers(outsiders)...are NOT prowling on foot.
The other 10% of thieves or robbers(live close to the victims' homes)...

So putting up the fencing with limited INITIAL funding is going to be a near impossible task or unpractical at these times...

11. To obtain 85% consensus + monthly contribution from total 1800 household residents is near impossible at the present juncture...
as many residents still have no confidence on the capability of the Security Guards...n facilities.

To obtain 85% consensus only is possible.

12. The Security Guards MUST wear their personal ID name tags...clearly.

13. The contact nos. to the nearest Police...Emergency n Fire Departments...
MUST be clearly pasted on ALL guard posts...

14. The Security firm + resident reps should have EXCELLENT rapport with the nearby Police...
to do joint patrol...

15. More proper speed retardant road bumps...should be set up...
next to the Guard Posts...
(as vehicles slow down over the bumps...
the guards get more time to take down the registration nos.)

IF any good-for-nothing outsiders decide to do crime in USJ2...
but they see that the registration nos. of their vehicles are being taken down...
n recorded by the guards at the guard posts...

They would think 3 Times before committing crime in USJ2...GnG.

This would also serve to curb speeding vehicles in residential roads...too.

2 birds with one stone...

16. A poor fisherman set up small traps to catch fishes...in small stream.

With small harvest...the fisherman buys a small net...to catch better in bigger stream.

With better catch...the fisherman buys a bigger net...to catch even better...
with his friends...in a river.

ONLY with better harvest...would the fisherman be able to buy a fishing trawler...to catch more fishes in broader sea...

With small means...start small...

Err buddies...this suggestion is worth considering...

Suitable species of BAMBOO plants should be planted sparingly along the perimeters...
as opposed to planting the ugly looking n high maintenance steel wire-mesh fencing.

1. Planting Suitable Bamboo plants should be encouraged by each households...
living along the perimeters of USJ2 GnG...

2. Affordable...easy n fast growing Bamboo plants...
grown to good heights would serve as excellent wind breaker...

The current pine trees planted are useless...
the pine trees branches break too easily in rain storms...

3. The hardy Bamboo plants beautify the community surroundings...
n soothe the environment...

4. The Bamboo plant is GOOD Feng-Shui...

5. Better to start doing this as the 1st Community in USJ/SJ...
to have the Beautiful Bamboo plants planted as fencing...
to beautify the surroundings...
before the other communities get wind of this suggestion...

Few birds with one stone...

The area is an open concept... it design and build in that way... wouldn't want any other way... wouldn't want any fencing... be it fencing with good fengsui plants... golden chalice pagar (probably will be tear down stolen in a very short time :p)...

You either incinerate your death or bury it...
In which case...you either live on trees(don't built your house on earth)...
or eat your food raw(don't use heat for cooking)...

The deceased is well dressed...like wearing a suit...
n put on a tie...to look handsome...for men that is.
In which case...you should consider not to wear any...

yes anyone can tear down the fencing... fencing is in their property... they can do whatever they want...

area where fencing around the house belong to the owner... area where fencing around USJ2 (or any area) belong to the PUBLIC...

Lets not go into this argument...

There are so many USJ2 GnG THreads, pretty confused which one to post to. Moderator, can you kindly copy this posting to all other USJ2 GnG threads ??
I am not for nor against USJ2 GnG as I don't live there.

But I am travelling in/out the roads there at least 4 times a day as my kids are schooling there.

Yesterday, a triangular-shaped divider was built right smack in the middle of the entry road from Jalan Tujuan to USJ2. Is this MPSJ approved ? May I ask the RA what purpose does this divider serve in terms of security of your GnG initiative ?

During peak period, ie after school hours and with those coming home from work in the evening, what used to be a flexible 2 lane going out from this road was reduced to one lane merged from 3 lanes of cars trying to squeeze out of USJ2 to Jalan Tujuan. And with the sharp angles from the dividers, it obstructs traffic more than anything else, and makes manouvering the corners with so little room very difficult.

Today, after a heavy downpour, the insides of the triangular shaped divider became storage of rainwater.

Please do whatever you wish to improve security but pls do not cause jam as a result. Do you have the right to build such a divider on public road ?

Today, some workers were seen revamping the obviously ill-placed triangular divider that lasted 2 days.
For a while I thought some sense came down and had it removed. Instead, it was downgraded into a straight line divider, and of a lower height than the previous super-reinforced curb concrete.

So GnG has decided to also include roadworks in its portfolio. What's next ?

What we can do is to report this to our councilor Rajiv on this matter...
http://www.usj.com.my/bulletin/upload/showthread.php?t=29552

Take a picture on the mentioned divider and report it...

The divider is build on public road... pretty sure it need approval not just from MPSJ, it need approval from JKR as well...

Hello every1. I'm a resident in USJ2 . Just an hour ago, I was at Ehsan Restaurant having a drink with my cousin, an incident occurred in front of our eyes. A car driver arrived was fuelling up in Petronas. All of a sudden I was told by my cousin that two people were fighting . I saw a guy with helmet on & another man (car driver) fighting. I assumed that it was an argument between them, then I realized that he was being attacked & robbed. He was attacked by two of them and he ran towards & away from his vehicle heading towards the shop. One guy with helmet on chased him and at the other side of the station (near the exit/entrance) there were about 4 bikes waiting. All happen in spilt seconds, the attacker ran back towards his friends and all went off!! Why isn't there a security check 'pondok' at the entrance near both bus stops ! ! Even this shows the security guards/officers are NOT AWARE of suspicious vehicles & people. Isn't it odd that a group of bikes which hardly comes into USJ2 area all of a sudden at about 4.00am - 4.30am riding in ??? These security personnel’s are supposed to be having EAGLE EYES meaning knowing what's going on & who are to be categorized in the suspicious list. I'm a trained & qualified Private Security Officer ( with license) & I know what's the real deal once we're on duty & in our uniform. These kind of groups at this hours are supposed to be monitored. The check point officers should have aired on his walkie talkie to the patrol officer who is on duty at that zone or near that zone. Ordering him to keep an eye & monitor these bikers. This officers have all the rights to do so. It's their duty in the whole USJ2 area. I feel it's not safe at all. After returning back from Singapore as an Private Security Officer seeing this change whereby all this check points and guards around i felt safe. Especially for my mother who is staying alone at home. Although I've had a short period of experience as an Officer I've learnt many things to use it to maintain and keep the security of others & the respective area a safe place to be in. What if the driver was stabbed? What if students who study at SEGi college here living far away from family decide to walk to the shops at hours past midnight get attacked? Many matters are to be discussed & strategies to be bloomed to create a safer place & gaining the confidence of the residents of USJ2 . With or without the fencing ! ! It's not about the fence anymore. It's about the proper ways to tackle the coming dangers & being prepared.
I've decided to speak & meet those who are involved in the USJ2 security department soon.
Thank you & have a pleasant day.
